About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

Decent effort. Definitely playable but can do with more polishing. Difficulty at the easiest level is still quite difficult. Hopefully there will be mods in the future to make it even better.

I was pretty negative after my first hour. Then I realized I was playing on the default difficulty and hadn't even looked at the modifiers. Turned things up. Much better.
Graphics: 6/10 AI: 6/10 Technical state: needs work Combat: 8/10 “just one more mission”: 11/10 I think that sums it up pretty well.
I like this game very much. However there is a major flaw. To win, at the end, you need to complete a number of missions within the last 15 days. However, no missions pop up at all during these 15 days, so you lose the game without having a chance to complete them. Please urgently fix this
It is the closest think I've come to a true X-Com game in years!
The game definitely has an indie feel. But honestly? I kind of like that. The developers need to keep polishing it, especially AI and balance. If they do, this could age really well.
I think the visual criticism is getting a little ridiculous. it's an indie tactics game. If the choice is “better animations” or “more tactical abilities”, I'm taking the abilities every single time.
