About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

Decent effort. Definitely playable but can do with more polishing. Difficulty at the easiest level is still quite difficult. Hopefully there will be mods in the future to make it even better.
Its unashamedly an xcom 2 clone, but thats no bad thing in the absence of xcom 3. Enjoying the game very much. I would like the base building to be a bit more flexible like xcom 2. Would also like to be able to skip tutorial levels. But well done, highly recommend this game.

I wasn't expecting to like the story. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. What I actually enjoy is the atmosphere between missions and the core gameplay itself - especially like drones and how you can blow them up when there is enemies crowd nearby So good so far
a great game x-com fans will love it and any other's to
Haven't played long but the overall graphics look absolutely gorgeous, though the base management screen is a bit confusing to navigate right now
Warhounds obviously borrows the language of the genre, but there are some genuinely interesting ideas here. Fun to play.
The AI can be a little special sometimes, other than that - I keep playing and getting some fun.

I’m going to be honest: the presentation almost made me quit before I really got into it. The character voice acting and some of the animations are rough, and the whole thing has a very “indie project” look to it. Then I started playing... The actual combat is much better than the visuals suggest. Shooting feels impactful, cover is easy to understand and positioning matters. I also really like the individual bullet calculations, even if the amount of scratch damage feels a little excessive right now.
I’m pleasantly surprised. Is it rough? Absolutely. Is it derivative? Very much so. Did I enjoy playing it? Also absolutely. I’d rather have a game that borrows proven ideas and executes them well than something “innovative” that isn’t fun. There’s a solid tactical game here, and I’m curious to see where it will go with updates.
