A beautiful and very unique tower defence game. It’s a very family-friendly version of a tower defence game where your towers give coffee to the zombeans and save the economy. Click as fast as possible to farm beans, create coffee, or shoot coffee. Or use the cute little blobistas to speed up the production. After each round you get likes which you can use in the nice and balanced upgrade tech-tree. I absolutely love the game!
This game is a lot of fun. The clicker mechanics in particular ensure that you never get bored, because clicking is essential here to keep your towers working. But don't worry, there are also cute blobs that actively support you and relieve you. The graphics are very cute and the levels are exciting, if you are a Tower Defender fan, you should give it a try :)
Obviously played it while drinking coffee! I beat 1st level and looked away for 1 second to take a bite out of my croissant and when I looked back, the game was nowhere to be seen. It just decided for me I am done and closed itself. I opened it again, and my progress wasn't saved, but thankfully I could skip Barista Academy. Then I went into the serious business and failed xD I think it actually took me a bit of time to realize all the intricacies to plan better (yes even though I watched the streams playing myself is different xD) I'd say it's not very "idle", you have to click a looot. So I played it while listening to youtube and it worked well xD But leaving it on as an idle game while reading a book and just clicking from time to time probably won't work, it's quite intense and requests a lot of attention! Because sometimes I was so concentrated on clicking I had to rewind youtube video to listen to part of it again as I missed everything xD I'd even say it's a "strategic clicker" game. Yes. That's the genre :) Little white blob is my favourite! Music was fun and I like that you added achievements, makes me happy to hear that achievement unlocked sound xD Overall I think gameplay-wise I don't have anything to complain or recommend, I would just polish a bit with UI details, like making the shop screen more textured and interesting and adding grass on the levels ^^ Maybe sell button is dangerously close when I am clicking on buildings. I actually DID accidentally sell a building just now in a rush of clicking. And maybe sometimes when I want to click on the building I accidentally start dragging a blob instead. *Played for about an hour so far, didn't complete the game yet
Blob.
A delightfull mix of tower defence and clicker game filled with quirky personality. I had great fun exploring the upgrade tree and improving my coffee dispensing powers. I'd love to see better click automation earlier into the game and more ways to interact or upgrade the Blobistas during a level. Great work nerds. Cannot wait to see what else you add to the game! <3 I'm in love with the Blobbies.
(I'm writing this review one week after the game was released into early access.) If you like tower defense games, don't hate clicker games and are looking for something that will keep you occupied for about 6-10 hours, look no further. Wake Cup is a very cute and fun game that feels a lot like playing Plants vs Zombies: among the tornado of clicks you're about to do, you also need to discover and optimize what works best and figure out what to spend your accumulated likes on in the metaprogression tree. Originally a jam game, Wake Cup was expanded on and polished for months before early access release, and just a week after that a good amount of bugs were fixed and game performance improved immensely too. I'm not sure what are the developer's plans in terms of additional content, but since the game is priced very fairly, it's already a great bang for your buck. Support your local (or remote) indie devs! :)
Wake Cup is an addictive Tower Defence game. This game is so fun, I'm really looking forward to the final version :)
Wake Cup – The Caffeinated Tower Defense Game You Never Knew You Needed If you’ve ever dreamt of wielding the power of coffee to single-handedly keep the workforce from collapsing into existential despair, Wake Cup is the game for you. This brilliant mash-up of tower defense, clicker mechanics, and rogue-lite progression delivers a hilarious and addictive experience that perfectly captures the chaos of Monday mornings. Gameplay: Coffee or Chaos In Wake Cup, you take on the role of the ultimate barista overlord, tasked with one mission: keeping the masses caffeinated so the economy doesn’t grind to a halt. Waves of exhausted workers shuffle toward their desks, dangerously close to giving up. Your arsenal? A variety of coffee-based weaponry, from espresso cannons to frappuccino mortars, each designed to deliver that crucial caffeine boost. The core loop is an ingenious mix of tower defense strategy and clicker mechanics—passively deploying caffeine dispensers while frantically clicking to unleash high-powered shots when things get desperate. The rogue-lite meta-progression keeps things fresh, allowing you to unlock absurd upgrades like hyper-caffeinated brews, turbo-charged baristas, and the legendary Quadruple Shot Espresso Bazooka. Humor: Satirical and Steaming Hot The game is bursting with personality, poking fun at both corporate culture and coffee addiction in equal measure. Workers drag themselves forward with thousand-yard stares, only to be jolted into hyper-productivity by a well-aimed shot of dark roast. Expect tons of puns, exaggerated caffeine-fueled animations, and corporate satire that hits way too close to home. Would be lovely if they add this: The different worker types are hilarious: • The Overworked Manager – Needs triple shots just to function. • The Intern – Bounces around unpredictably after one sip. • The Freelancer – Only drinks artisanal single-origin espresso, making them harder to satisfy. • The CEO – Ignores all logic, crashes productivity, but guzzles premium brews like there’s no tomorrow. Art & Sound: Aesthetic as Smooth as a Fresh Brew The game’s visuals are bright, quirky, and packed with charm, perfectly capturing the energy (or lack thereof) of a Monday morning. The animations are fantastic—watching exhausted workers transform into turbo-charged productivity machines never gets old. And the soundtrack? A delightful mix of lo-fi coffee shop beats and the frantic chaos of a busy café, keeping the mood both chill and hectic at the same time. Final Verdict: An Espresso Shot of Pure Fun Wake Cup is a fantastic blend of tower defense and clicker madness, offering addictive gameplay, laugh-out-loud humor, and a rogue-lite progression system that keeps you coming back for “just one more cup.” Whether you love coffee, tower defense, or just enjoy seeing a caffeine-fueled workforce descend into organized chaos, this game is a must-play
