I was extreemly impressed with the program as a whole. I found unlike almost every other VR 'game' I own there were no noticable glitches. Everything from the begging on through the tutorials on to sailing was smoth, responsive. You can tell that alot of heart went into this game. I considerate more of a educational program because you learn the skill of sailing. That being said, it's not FPS and if your looking to learn and actulluy fill if you are sailing which can be very calming and stress relieving you will really be glad you purchased this game.
Picked this up in a sale and i'm not regretting it. For me trying to rank up is challenging but there is progress (my times to finish a race are getting nearer the required objectives, it is just a matter of practice). You can also play freely, just chilling on the water (in the small or bigger boat) and learning a few things about sailing.I play on an oculus rift s and it runs smooth with decent sound and graphics (had to crank them up in the settings because default was on lowest).See this as a title i'll regularly come back to for ranking up or just relaxation.Happy with it.
Love it, really great game. The videos and sample photos on Steam match the game perfectly. Watching a beautiful sunset ripple on the water as I sail takes my breath away every time. I find the game incredibly relaxing, and often find myself simply hanging over the side of the boat watching the water slowly ripple by. You can also do racing when you're looking to up the excitement. I paid full price ($42.95 AUD) a week or so before it came out on special and I have no regrets whatsoever. The current asking price of around $13 AUD is an absolute steal! I usually play on the living room floor, in case I want to move around a bit. I love the immersion when the small boat (dinghy) reacts to your movement which mean you can rock the boat and/or swap sides if you're racing. I've only sailed a handful of times IRL, that was on dinghy's when I was younger in Scouts. If you have any interest in sailing, this game shouldn't disappoint. In case it helps anyone, I'm using a Quest 2, via AirLink. I'm on 5.4GHz wifi, about 10m from my router, and the signal is beaming through 2 walls. Graphics, audio, and controller interaction is perfect, with no noticeable lag.
I'll be honest I don't know anything about sailing or really like it that much, but if you do you'd probably like this game.
I got this on sale. I've gone sailing a couple times, but didn't operate the boat much. I love that this gives me a very hands-on educational experience for learning how to steer a sail boat against the wind. It's somewhat immersive, since I sit on the living room floor to play, and I'm leaning around to put shift my weight around the boat. It's the only VR game where I'm sitting on the floor -- I like this actually, since it's kinda novel. That said, the graphics are sub-par. This feels like it was made by seasoned sailors, but not seasoned game developers. It definitely doesn't stack up to flight-simulator games (like Project Wingman) in terms of graphics. But I feel like this is the type of game where you put on a good podcast, and it's relaxing and laid back. And also, it's a very unique thing. Because there are plenty of flight simulators, racing simulators, etc. But not many sailing simulators. Overall, I would recommend getting this on sale.

VR Regatta - The Sailing Game is a thoughtfully designed virtual reality experience that focuses on translating the calm precision and physicality of sailing into an immersive digital form. Developed and published by MarineVerse, the game is less about spectacle and more about presence, inviting players to slow down, observe the wind, and interact directly with a sailboat as if they were standing on its deck. From the first moments on the water, the emphasis is clear: this is a VR title built around tactile engagement, spatial awareness, and the quiet satisfaction of mastering a real-world skill in a virtual space. The game’s setting, the Akalana Islands, provides a warm and inviting backdrop that reinforces the sense of escape. The archipelago is composed of open seas, sheltered bays, and scenic coastlines that encourage both purposeful sailing and relaxed exploration. Dynamic lighting and time-of-day transitions subtly change the mood, whether you are gliding across sunlit waters or navigating under softer evening skies. These environmental touches do more than enhance visual appeal; they contribute to immersion by making the world feel responsive and alive, helping players forget they are standing in a room with a headset on. Interaction is where VR Regatta truly distinguishes itself. Instead of relying on abstract inputs, the game uses motion-tracked VR controllers to simulate real sailing actions. Steering the rudder, adjusting the sails, and managing direction all involve natural hand movements that quickly become intuitive. After a short adjustment period, these interactions begin to feel surprisingly authentic, encouraging players to think in terms of wind direction and boat orientation rather than buttons and menus. The included sailing lessons serve as a gentle introduction, teaching fundamental concepts without overwhelming newcomers, while still respecting the intelligence of players who may already be familiar with sailing principles. Gameplay structure balances freedom with optional challenge. Players can choose to sail casually, drifting through the islands at their own pace, or engage in more structured activities such as races and time-based challenges. Competitive sailing introduces an extra layer of focus, requiring efficient sail handling and awareness of wind shifts to gain an advantage. Multiplayer functionality expands the experience further, allowing friends or other players to share the waters, either cooperatively or competitively. This social component adds longevity and variety, turning VR Regatta into both a personal retreat and a shared VR playground. What makes the experience particularly appealing is how it accommodates different types of players. For those new to sailing, the game acts as a low-pressure introduction to concepts that might otherwise seem intimidating in real life. For experienced sailors, the mechanics and environmental feedback offer a familiar rhythm that echoes real-world techniques, even if the simulation is not exhaustively technical. The result is a title that sits comfortably between relaxation and learning, offering a sense of accomplishment without demanding constant intensity. Visually and aurally, the game favors subtlety over excess. The water reacts convincingly to motion, the boats feel solid and readable, and the overall art direction supports clarity and immersion rather than visual overload. Sound design reinforces this restraint, with gentle ambient audio and environmental effects that enhance presence without distracting from gameplay. Together, these elements create a calming atmosphere that encourages longer sessions without fatigue, a quality that is especially valuable in VR. While VR Regatta may not offer the complexity or breadth of a hardcore sailing simulator, it succeeds by focusing on what virtual reality does best: embodied interaction and sensory immersion. Some players may eventually wish for deeper systems or more varied challenges, but for many, the appeal lies precisely in the game’s measured pace and accessible design. It is a title that invites players to breathe, observe, and engage with a virtual environment in a mindful way. In the end, VR Regatta - The Sailing Game stands as a strong example of experiential VR design. It captures the essence of sailing not through overwhelming detail, but through intuitive controls, atmospheric environments, and a respect for the physicality of the activity it represents. Whether approached as a relaxing escape, a light educational tool, or a competitive sailing experience, it offers a satisfying and immersive journey across virtual waters, making it a standout choice for VR players interested in simulation, exploration, and calm, skill-based interaction. I rarely write reviews, but if the game stops launching I have to warn potential buyers of crap paddle.
