This game is not good. First the game when you get into it says it is a demo but you have to pay for it and no where does it say you are buying a demo.
I really wanted to like this game, not only because of its really nice graphics but also of its Sanctum-like (by a stretch I know, but still, this is the closest comparison that I have) Tower Defence gameplay. Unfortunately, the game is riddled with so much bugs and typos (a personal pet peeve of mine) that I could not honestly recommend the game unless 1. the devs are willing to patch up the game based on player feedback and 2. you are willing to put in the time and effort (and money) to help the devs identify bugs in hopes that the devs will eventually squash them.
Pros
+ The graphics look pretty good + The gameplay looks like it'd be a lot of fun - think Sanctum but with an open world and no tower-building (just upgrading) + Character movement seems smooth. Sprinting works great here. + The shooting aspect of the game works well too. The hit boxes seem fine here.
Cons
- The current game isn't worth the current price. - For some reason, the game I have is a demo? - Plus a whole lot of issues, many of which are explained in the section below.
Bugs Encountered and Suggestions (for the devs)
- After pulling the lever at the Green Tower, my character holstered his handgun and there is apparently no way for me to unholster it. I tried pressing every weapon key indicated in the Controls guide but to no avail. - The game needs a more prominent indicator for character health that's shown permanently on the screen. You can also add in a small inventory section below the health bar so players would know how many Blueprint orbs they have, for instance. - Monsters killed by turrets need to drop loot (specifically ammo for both your guns and your turrets). - The melee combat part needs a revamp. Instead of pressing F to melee, it might be better to just make its "light sword" an equipped weapon - like the guns you can pick up in the game - so that melee combat can be a lot more fluid and fun. This is important because apparently ammo is quite limited in supply in the game so you'll probably be melee-ing the monsters most of the time. - Need clearer instructions and tutorial on how to obtain more ammo and energy (I know I'll need "venom mist" for energy but how do I get these mists?) for the turrets. - I'd recommend getting another AI to voice out the dialogues in the game - choose an AI voice that's not very commonly used. - Make better use of the open world in the game. Maybe you guys can add "treasure chests" in the wild for players to find and these chests can contain one-of-a-kind weapon or armor skins. Plus please fix the typos! I might be willing to do it for free if you reach out.
Overall
Volcan Defend the Tower is most definitely NOT ready for release. It's an early access game at best. I understand that this game is quite the huge undertaking for an indie studio, but releasing an incredibly buggy game is just not the way to go. That said, I really hope the devs will continue updating the game because it does look like it has some potential as a fun third-person TD game. The concept and graphics are both strong, but at the moment there are too many game breaking bugs that seriously hamper the enjoyment. -Game hits the processor hard when accessing the Talent tree causing lag that makes the game unplayable. -Sometimes the game doesn't register you have picked up ammo or resources, rndering you defenceless. - You currently cannot quit to menu from the game, Quit takes you completely out of the game. Your name is Solum, part of elite soldiers that traversed the universe in the search of a new habitable planet. After travelling for centuries and not finding any planets that were habitable, the ark ship returned to earth which had returned to its normal habitable state with the exception of green clouds feeding the flesh eating aliens. Your goal is to defend all volcan towers and kill the boss within a cavern. Capturing a tower will unlock a different defense turrets (minigun, flamer and laser). The enemies keep spawning. There are energy drops that helps you will need to reactivate your turrets when they run out of energy. The small green clouds are energy, the red ones are for health, the yellow ones are voice logs, the purple ones are blue orbs for upgrade and grey ones are for skill points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_saJ8uNToLA The game is alright but unfortunately it is riddle with bugs such as Solum not leveling but i had like 8 purple orbs, sometimes the enemies would dop nothing (no ammo, green or red clouds) so i would eventually run out and die. The combat is alright when you explore the map the enemies start attacking when your close enough kind of like those mmorpg games but this is more like a capture the point type of game with rpg enemies in the third person person view. The environments are nice but combat gets boring and bland eventually. The uses unreal engine and runs fine on my 32gb, pcs amd 1700x with an rx 8gb. Not the best optimized game but passable at best.

Hello, I received this free game with keymailer.co for stream on the platform twitch, I would have liked to show it to all, because I love the concept, but the game is in the beta phase is still too buggy, 3 Once in 4 new game, I had collision bugs, poison areas that disappeared so he was killing my character. The talent tree system I find it good with the concept for a defended tower game. But the game still remains with major bugs that it must be fix. There are also small details like the game is unable to go above 62 FPS, I would love to see it in 144FPS, but the game does not allow for the moment because it is in phase BETA. If not the developers if you really want to show the game in stream to make the game known, it would be important to fix all the bugs of collision, the sounds of late balls, monsters that move too much robotically. Also put a lot of ambient effects, especially explosion or laser effects, because the laser we have to hit, is really not detail, especially with the sound to the star wars when we use it. Otherwise good game concept.
