About

You've just come into a world already in ruins. You don't know who you are, and there's no one to tell you. Perhaps you are the last of your kind. It’s up to you, and the strength of your voice and fins, to piece together the past. Sing the forgotten songs, and uncover the echoes of a sunken, broken civilization.
Voice of the Ocean is the beginning of a single-player adventure where you will have to sing and swim. You will be a newborn mermaid, diving through ruins and looking for pieces of a long lost mural.
In the game you will:

Use your voice to navigate the depths. Sing the melodies of your lost civilization, brought to life through an original score composed exclusively for the game by Jaime Fenoy Aguilera.
You will have to hit the correct pitch using your voice, to charm fishes, move objects and sing the songs of the mermaids.

Dive into a forgotten world beneath the waves, with a traditional oil painting style brought to 3D. Swim through a vivid, impressionistic seascapes, poisoned by an uncertain past. You will be able to swim through ruins, buildings and areas reclaimed by nature.

Part of the story of your people lies scattered across the deep. Unstructured and half-buried in a world that has forgotten it. Find the audio logs and the lost mural to reconstruct the past.

This game was created over the course of 11 weeks by third-year bachelor students from Howest - Digital Arts & Entertainment, with the invaluable contribution of our original soundtrack composer, Jaime Fenoy Aguilera as well as our animator Maxine Desmet. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our coordinators, Alex Vanden Abeele and Tristan Clarysse, for their support and trust in our vision.

the screen kept flashing red and i couldnt see anything i also couldnt pick which mic the game was using. this was especially a headache.
Voice of the Ocean is a short but beautifully crafted experience that leaves a strong impression. The visuals are absolutely stunning—soft, dreamy underwater environments that feel peaceful, mysterious, and immersive from the moment you start. Every area feels carefully designed, like you’re slowly uncovering a quiet story hidden beneath the waves. The gameplay is simple and accessible, but that works in its favor. It focuses more on atmosphere, exploration, and emotional storytelling rather than complexity, which makes it perfect for a relaxing play session. The sound design and music are especially memorable—they blend seamlessly with the environment and truly make the ocean feel alive. What really stands out is how cohesive everything feels. The art, music, and mechanics all work together to create a calm, almost meditative experience. It may be short, but it knows exactly what it wants to be and executes it well. If you enjoy atmospheric indie games, underwater settings, or games that prioritize mood and storytelling over length, Voice of the Ocean is absolutely worth playing.

Lovely short game, with a great fun concept of song! :) I'm not sure it fully picked up in which key I was singing correctly, but we made it through to the end, so all good XD 👏🏼
A unique and interesting experience! I've never sang to my computer before- I wouldn't mind seeing this game expanded with larger areas, less puffer fish and obstacles or perhaps a melody memory feature, and more story!

Very cute and relaxing game. The artstyle looks great and the soundtrack really stood out to me. Everything ran smooth and i didnt notice any bugs. I had a great time playing.
Honestly pretty cool idea. Visuals and art design are also quite nice style wise. There were some oddities with the mic interactions but not enough to really bother me. I did get a fatal error after completing the second portion of the mural but it was pretty fun. If this developed into a longer full game I'd buy it. I don't think there is any need to show tutorials for things like the puffer fish, it was pretty simple and fun to figure out. Interested to see where this or future projects go.
Would love a full game of this! it was fun, relaxing and lovely art style.

Pun intended!
