The main reason I bought this game was Yoko Taro, the creative director. He is, like Hideo Hoshima, a developer who likes trying new stuff, loves writing stories without clear defined good and bad guys; also in Voice of Cards your party is doing good stuff as well as bad stuff. Yoko Taro is famous for his Drakengard and Nier series. So why a thumbs down? Because the whole game design is pretty mediocre at best. If you know Yoko Taros writing style, figuring out the plottwist was way to easy and the character writing also is not bad, but also not good. Voice of Cards plays like a JRPG but the interactions with NPCs and your team members are short and mostly simple. It also doesn't matter what dialogue choices u pick, it changes just one, two sentences before the script contunues with the normal route. This game is also very, very easy 90 % of the time, just the showdown can be pretty tricky. Soooo, yeah... I cannot recommend it. There are so many better JRPGs out there and if you aren't a die hard fan of card games, than I don't think this game wilol give you something new and refreshing. But the music is good! That is also something Yoko Taro likes to provide. Great OST!

Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is probably the best installment in the series. First of all, it gives off strong Yoko Taro vibes, as he is the creative director behind all three Voice of Cards games. So be prepared for an emotional and psychologically roller coaster. Now, onto the review. The story is very good and is probably the main thing that kept me going. You get to experience friendship, uncover the truth about the world, and understand why everyone behaves the way they do. Story, in my opinion, is a 10/10. Combat is turn-based TRPG or if you prefer, turn-based RPG with card-style mechanics, which I personally love, and I had a lot of fun with it here as well. I would honestly give it a 10/10, but the gacha-style treasure drops you get after defeating enemies are very random and inconsistent. Sometimes it got so frustrating that I alt+F4’d out of the game. Because of that, I’d rate combat an 8/10. The only thing I really dislike is the Game Parlor vendor and his poker minigame. The AI feels pretty bad there, so I’d give that part a 1/10. However, the fact that you can play multiplayer poker in the Game Parlor is actually pretty cool, so I’d bump it up to a 4/10. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable game, especially for fans of Yoko Taro’s works like NieR and Drakengard.
the story is fine and good. but pretty repetitive another repetitive thing about it is its gameplay it's unbelievably slow and clanking it's the main reason why I don't recommend it
concluding the brief trilogy of voice of cards is beasts of burden. i hope it comes to no shock to anyone reading this that this, fundamentally, is more of the same. if you finished the first game but couldn't stomach the second, i don't think this will change your mind. if you are in the market for more well buddy is beasts of burden for you. this one tries something a little different, namely with the combat : attempting a blue mage-esque approach to combat for everybody. i think it's fairly fun, but to counter balance that, the game also is fairly easy. i can only assume it's to compensate for the fact that skills are a possiblility after battle (from a pick-one-of-three blind chest mini game) so you might just be lacking things to take you forward. as a bit of a downside (relatively speaking) the game is also shorter than previous entries. i wish at times it was ever so slightly longer to explain a bit more the worldbuilding we got but also i will never bemoan a game having a brisker pace allowing you to get through it a bit faster. would also be great to spend a bit more time with the cast because i like them & their designs a whole lot here. as a whole yeah a solid end to the voice of cards trilogy. for most people they won't even consider playing it, which i guess is fine, but i'm glad i played all three of them because they offered me something ever so slightly different in each entry. had a lot of fun with these games! there's probably a bit to nitpick if i wanted to be super picky but oh well! at large though somewhat of a useless review because if someone was interested they would already have picked up the trilogy and played this game regardless.
Cute clever quick, play the aisle dragon roars demo.
Joer... Me pase el juego por si mejoraba... ¡Pero la historia esta tan trillada! El 1 es el mejor, el 2 y este son una peste... ¡Dios! ¿No pude escribir el guion el mismo del 1? ¡Y si lo hizo! ¿Por que son tan malas estas historias? ¡Decepción completa!
