There’s some satisfaction to be had here but overall I cant recommend it. The upgrades have really poor pacing. At 4 hours in I had all the upgrades possible with only like 4700/10,000 trees cut. So 0 change in gameplay for the remainder of the game. Problem. The drone is too slow to have any significant impact and by that time you’re maxed out anyway so it’s even more redundant. The fog is nice for the aesthetic but becomes annoying when you can’t see ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because all the trees are cut. Only good I can say is the early game. Starts out nice with good upgrade flow/pacing, and a sense of what’s out there beyond the trees? That’s the peak and it all just goes down from there. Middle-end game is ♥♥♥♥. Not worth, and it has two endings so to 100% you’d have to play it twice lol.
It hurts me to not recoomend this game, it started out just fine until like a couple of hours in and then the map is insaley huge, it has no maps that you can use to see where you are, the drone is WAYYYYY too slow even with some uprgades and as some other folks mentioned, you just keep running and running with no automation and nothing to hasten the progress. This is one game I literally gave up in the middle of and I don't give up that easy because of all the running back and forth and no meaningful upgrades. The aestethic of the game is good tho, It has decent graphics and eye candy, the environment and the design is just really good but it lacks a good progression, it just gets so mind numbing and boring and FRUSTRATING after a while that made me personally rage quit and I don't give up on games that easy, I'm persistent but when it gets frustrating like this, it's a no go for me. Hope they bring something to spice things up and hasten the progress, make the game feel smooth and more satisfying. *I also forgot to mention that the field of view in this game is horrible after a while, like the guy carries logs on his hands and it blocks the view, makes it even more frustrating. Give people the option to remove that on the screen too.. EDIT: I swear Steam has to bring a neutral review button instead of a positive or a negative only. This is a VERY hard game to review. Although it has decent graphics, very good atmosphere, OK gameplay it is flawed by not having meaningful upgrades, slow pacing, multiple endings that you have to start ALL over again, useless drone, no automation, so much running back and forth, The light/dark cycle being way too fast AND NO MAP, the no map is a HUGE flaw in my opinion. Overall this game had so much potential but It's NOT a bad game, It's just not for me. I had the courage again to play it because as I said, I don't give up that easy on games and I finished it, at the end of the game you get an upgrade that makes everything so much faster and easier but still, this game lacks the motivation to keep you engaged after a while. I had to use the speedhack to speed up the process otherwise I woulda been bored to death. God speed to all of you who decide to play this game without one..
Update: So turns out the devs are just churning out game after game( Their new baseball pin game and whatever the new one is, without even actually fixing their bugs or optimizing their games they've already made! ( I bought lumber jacked HOPING for patches/updates NEITHER are coming). WATCH OUT FOLKS!, THESE DEVS/PUBLISHERS (same people) are JUST FLIPPING their own HALF ARSED games they make, then moving onto the next "Project". Just look at there recent events and news. AVOID THIS COMPANY %500!!! As someone who has almost completed all achievements, I beat the game in 3ish hours. Devs talked about a 2.0 update WAY back in July at like 7PM CST time. I asked today about the supposed Update and was told " We did a huge halloween update but now are working on a "new" project".... whatever the F that means. As I mention in their discord before i got kicked/banned, because people are self projecting/being super emotional/karens at me all because I asked a simple question of "when is the update coming out". Their community is full of super sensitive emotional/self projecting people. Basically i blocked the people and couldnt be bothered to deal with stupid people. W/e, Either way folks %100 AVOID this game. Devs havent updated this game in 8 months, have also during that same time frame have been %500 radio silent and then when questioned, they avoid the question completely! Going to ask steam for a refund. Boring game NOT worth the normal $5 or on sale price of $4. This game is worth $2 AT MOST.
Lumberjacked is a very well-made game that can easily pull you in for hours without you even noticing. It has a simple but satisfying gameplay loop, and that is exactly what makes it so enjoyable. It is the kind of game you launch to relax for a while, and before you know it, a big part of your evening is gone. I have already finished the game and completed both endings. Reaching 100% completion took me around 14 hours, although that should always be taken with some reserve because playtime depends a lot on personal playstyle. Overall, the game is just a lot of fun and works really well as a relaxing experience. You do not need to overthink anything — you simply run around the map, chop down trees, and enjoy the flow of the game. Sometimes that straightforward approach is exactly what makes a game so good. As a whole, I had a great time with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something casual, engaging, and easy to unwind with. Rating: 9/10
Lumberjacked is a decent game at its core, but there are a few things that stop me from recommending it. The main issue is navigating the world with no map, and borderline useless compass. Trying to remember where you've been and how to get back to an area you want to revisit is painful unless you are someone with great mental mapping abilities. There are few landmarks and everything looks the same except for the different types of trees. And collecting everything (or chopping all the trees) is just tedious with the way the game is now. A secondary issue is the lack of a few quality of life upgrades that would go a long way: auto-throw, expand log pickup radius, and auto-pick mushrooms would be simple upgrades that could be unlocked to east the spam clicking and roomba maneuvers that you need to do during the course of the game. The one main existing QoL feature, the drone, is mostly worthless since it is so slow and requires you to manually gather tons of mushrooms to level up. By the time you get those mushrooms you will likely already be past the limit of needing money.
Meine Bewertung: Daumen Rauf !!
There are too many other games that are very similar and do this much better. With a bunch of QoL updates, this might be worth the time, but the last half of the game is incredibly tedious. The last 10% is just aimlessly wandering around looking for the random trees you may have missed, and the fog is so thick that exploring is super inefficient.
This game is short enough to finish in one sitting… but somehow still managed to ruin my sleep schedule. 10/10 tiny little masterpiece.

It's mad to not recommend after 9.2 hours, but sunk cost kept me going, hoping there'd be a pay off to the grind - I got the most went-for ending and man was it underwhelming. If there was any amount of meaningful payoff I'd maybe be recommending it for what it is, a simple cutesy grindy time-waster that scratches an itch, despite it's terrible upgrade pacing and the near useless drone (as pointed out in other negative reviews). But it really is just a time-waster, and there's defo better ones than this. If you only play games that require 0 effort while you listen to YouTube, this is one of them I guess, but you've probably got better ones already.
