Definitely one of the best stories I have experienced this year. Not for the faint of heart, it does not pull any punches.
I'm not very used to writing review, I was writing as a self-note and figured I might as well post this as a review here. I'm very conflicted whether to recommend this or not. The premise was interesting and it started great, combining Vtubers, AI, and post-apocalyptic theme together. With great art from Bang Dream's artist and a few vocal songs with vtuber-like MV style. Ai is cute. The plot, however, quickly expanded to be far too big for its own good. With direction so unclear I think most people would not understand most of the plot anymore after about halfway point. The writing required far too much suspension of disbelief to drive the plot forward. And also a bit too long, with some of its runtime spent repeating something that was already explored. But it also gave time to flesh out the side characters, giving them more depth. It didn't go all that far in any particular direction either, romance was lacking, Ai's Vstar activity was limited to her Just Chatting streams, sci-fi part didn't really rely on logic and instead tell you to just "Trust me bro" and very often I'm left confused as to what the plot was actually about at that moment, only to figure it out after a few scenes when I was like "Oh so we're doing this now?" including at the very end. Speaking of the very end, without going into details, it was... very lackluster, probably one of the most unsatisfying ending I've seen. The whole game was underutilized as a setup for this moment, pretty much nothing was resolved. The localization... left quite a bit to be desired. It's not that bad, it's just very inconsistent and filled with various smaller issues. There are multiple instances of unclear wording, odd word choices, a little bit of typos, and different localization choices. there were apparently multiple translators that worked on this project, and it felt like none of them communicated with each other and only had an editor to keep the game readable and proper nouns consistent, but did not check for accuracy with the JP. The TL was absolutely human-made, though. And had adequate effort put in it, most of the issues I saw with it was impossible to have been done by AI. Overall I'm quite disappointed with the game, as it had a promising start but it slowly went downhill from there. It's certainly not a bad game, I wouldn't have continued otherwise. But it's quite undercooked, or overcooked, depending on how you look at it. I did enjoy most of my time in it due to the charming characters. Finished in about 13 hours. I'll give it a... 7/10
to be honest, i lost the plot like 3/4ths of the way through despite that though, for $30 dollarydoos, it was a good kinetic VN to read through in a day, had me gripped for the most part and everything about its production was well done
