Tried the game out, liked what I played, supported for Early Access waiting for Multiplayer, been months now.......I see a bunch of forums with no Dev responses...might want to avoid this game, it may have been abandoned. Can’t recommend.
Enjoyable mini games, a few of which build up a fantastic boxing rhythm, placing you in the mood for the action in the ring. The game is well presented, and lacks for nothing graphicaly in the ring. The action is clear and well paced, but does need some work as of writing this. Personaly i was struggling with seperation due to lack of movement and impact of hits both taken and recieved, 80 percent of the time i was fighting in a street brawl. There needs to more of a visual indication when you land punches, perhaps in conjunction with haptic responce from the control. That said, the positive responces from the developer to work on the issues in the ring based on the feedback they've had, and the roadmap going forward, then definitely keep you're eye on boxing league. Lastly i think the soundtrack deserves some props, there's nothing like a good tune to get you in the mood.
So I have virtually every other boxing VR game. This seems poised as a direct competitor to those games in a lot of different ways, but it veers dangerously close to being a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None" since the game design is stretched pretty thin between being a boxing fighter and a minigame experience. The game has a lot of minigames. This is its strength. Then there's the fighting. It reminds me a lot of another Steam game. That's fine, though. Only so much you can do with boxing matches in VR at this stage, and for what it's worth, it feels a bit more lively! However, I do think the game needs to embrace the minigame angle a bit more. The fights are nice, but the unique minigames are where the game has its charm. I think they could improve those and add more. That'd give the game a lot more value to me. The combat is good. Maybe better than other similar titles soon if they keep making improvements and fix minor bugs and collision issues and add a bit of feedback for the hits to let you know they counted. Keep working on the combat, sure, but really marry yourself to the minigames because that is what is going to set you apart and keep me coming back. If I've got a bunch of adrenaline inducing minigames to choose from for a workout all in one app, I'll spend a bunch of time in it. And the fights help a lot, too! They don't have to be brilliant, just competent. A nice way to switch up the action! Thanks, Dev, for a great experience so far!
This game has great potential and it was promised to have an online multiplayer feature. However, there wasn't a single update or news since last summer. It seems deserted by their owner.
This game is severely lacking. Incredibly difficult to avoid punches. No force feedback in the VR controllers. My XBox controller, on the other hand sits on my desk and rumbles away while I play. Boxers don't really react to your punches when you hit them. Seems like you can only do real damage if you swing with all your might over the top. I feel like some of these boxing games get more positive reviews than they deserve because people "get sweaty", but any game where you wave your arms around, dip and duck, etc. you're going to get sweaty. The movement required to get out of the way of punches is way too much if you don't have the real physical space to make such a move. So the whole time you're fighting, the trainer is nagging you to move, but you just can't unless you want to go crashing into walls and furniture. There doesn't seem to be any tutorials or anything that would ramp up a player into getting used to the controls. The height setting seems a bit off as well. After putting in my height, everything is about 3 inches too high to reach. Many features say the game is still in development, but the forums indicate that the game is essentially dead. Not worth $20 in my opinion.
A fine party game
If you're looking for realistic boxing game, I recommend getting that other game. And if that game nearly give you heart attack, cool down your pace here. This game has variety mini game not just fighting in the ring. The main boxing system is - medium - Punching doesn't feel satisfied (May be glove's too big). But when it hit it does. Blocking needs some work. It's in Early Access state and the Dev is active. I was having problem with rotation, they fixd it in a week. I'm able to do 3-4 fights a run so it's slow pace compare to what I fought in the hood. While this game has some good humor. It's nice if you bring friends and have a good time. I find my self pleased when punching a girl in the face.
C.J. Maboo
8/10
Eyes of the tiger??!!
Definitely more arcade-y than Thrill of the Fight(which is my favorite VR titles),but VBL is a lot of fun and definitely worth what the devs are asking for. Pick it up if you love VR punchers. It's one of the best!
This was originally listed as underdevelopment with a multiplayer feature. The devs stopped development for more than a year, then returned, stripped any mention of features they hadn't implemented yet, and then "released" it without much polish from early access of years prior. Stay away from this game and this developer.
Game received for free from the curator program. 6600k OC 2.3 16 GB Ram GTX 1080 Vive OG TPcast The best boxing simulator I have played so far in VR, the opponents look realistic, well as realistic as VR allows right now. It has a good feel when boxing in the ring. There are a series of mini-games as well that are all fun and worth playing in their own right. The locker room bull rush is a real highlight. Gameplay Vid. https://youtu.be/7pbX6_mLV10 Visually: Excellent looks extremely good, the best in this area. Voice acting: Professional and well done, almost a Mickey character as the trainer Gameplay: The boxing is great, the mini games are fun it's all well done. Cons: One glove can lose tracking and get stuck at times, this needs to be fixed as it can be quite annoying. If you're looking for a Boxing simulator then this is the one I'd chosen out of the three I have played so far. As long as the glove problem is fixed.
