У 2-10% игроков может возникнуть проблема с запуском. Игра стартует и тут же закрывается (на пару секунд появляется черный экран, а потом вас возвращает на рабочий стол). Режимы совместимости эту проблему не исправляют. Лично мне помогла банальная перезагрузка компьютера после установки игры.[/code] Мини игры легкие, а поиски предметов по спискам не напрягают глаза – все предметы заметные, крупные и яркие. Курсор меняет форму на местах взаимодействия и вещах, которые можно подобрать. Позабавило, что в поисках по спискам курсор начинает порхать как бабочка, если вы несколько раз подряд щелкаете не на искомые предметы. Есть карта, журнал и подсказка, которая накапливается настолько медленно, что ее использовать толку нет. В поисках предметов по спискам подсказка работает нормально, а вот на локациях может указывать на очередную мини игру даже тогда, когда у вас не найдено все необходимое для ее выполнения. A story-rich Hidden Objects game based on the 1860 novel by Wilkie Collins, A mystery story with a Victorian theme. The story starts off with the art teacher Walter Hartright making his way to Fairlie estate, on his way he meets a mysterious woman who is dressed in white. He couldn't shake the thought of who is she, especially that she looked unwell. Later he will meet the girls, Marian and Laura, who he is going to teach them art and to his surprise he found himself forming some feeling to the youngest sister, Laura, alas the girl is already engaged but against her well to one of the Noblemen. There are few puzzles in the game but all of them are easy to solve. The only thing that I can mention as a real con is the sounds effects. Игра короткая, и легко проходится часа за два. Пазлы простые, сцены поиска чуть тяжелее, тем более из-за того что подсказка перезаряжается долго. Из минусов - карта декоративная, и толку от неё нет. Подсказка - любит указывать на место где можно что-то сделать с предметом... которого у нас еще нет. С другой стороны при заходе на сцену, где все дела уже сделаны, об этом напишут, что облегчает дело. Игра, конечно, не новая, и, хотя ей уже 9 лет, но выглядит она на все 30. Сюжет игры заимствован из одноимённого романа. Разрешение роликов, видимо, подбиралось для просмотре на экранчике калькулятора, Разрешение самой игры тоже слабенькое. Этим характеризуются все игры этого разработчика в этом жанре. Русской локализации в игре нет. Это тоже характерно для данного разработчика, так что, сложно надеяться, что она вообще появится. Хотя, собственно, перевод текста и названий предметов для поиска стоит копейки, даже если платить за это профессионалам. Но, видимо, тратить их что-то не позволяет. Впрочем, если обратиться к сообществу, всё это можно получить и вовсе даром, но и этот шаг что-то не позволяет сделать. Видимо разработчик не хочет денег, иначе не объяснить. Карты перемещений нет. Подсказка в игре вообще бесполезная везде кроме поля для поиска. Но и там она умудряется показывать либо на место где лежал давно найденный предмет, либо сильно промахивается. Откат же у ней адски долгий даже на легком уровне. При попытке перейти альтабом в браузер, что бы посмотреть в гугле что означает слово для поиска игра глючит (даже если вы сносно владеете бытовым английским, вы всё равно почти наверняка не знаете значения части слов, используемых на картинке предметов), что не наблюдалось в других играх этого разработчика. Я вообще-то люблю этот жанр игр, но, к сожалению, приходится признать, что поделки этого разработчика отстойны и к покупке не интересны. В Стиме полным полно других, более удачных игр, выполненных в более современном ключе.

While this game may have been released on Steam in 2019, the game itself was actually first released in 2010 and it has not been updated or improved in any way. Even approaching this review in the knowledge the game is 11 years old, there is no hiding the fact that it is an unpleasant experience. I have two main complaints, the first of which is that the game looks terrible, I'm not sure what the resolution is, maybe 720p, possibly lower. Couple that with a 30FPS cap and mouse acceleration and it just looks and feels unpleasant, and thus has a detrimental effect on gameplay in general. Puzzles look interesting, but turn out to be simple, hidden object scenes are frustrating, voice acting exists, but fails to add anything to a bunch of characters that can only be described as wooden. Couple that with near constant CTD when trying to start the game with neither file verification or compatibility modes finding a fix, and if you check the discussion boards for the game, you'll see I am not alone with this problem and while the dev is aware, they are not interested in fixing. With no achievements, either in game or on Steam and gameplay that ultimately feels like a chore, I would pass on this hidden object game, even if it were at a heavy discount.

[h1]Impressions of Victorian Mysteries: Woman in White[/h1] Playing this Hidden Object Game will be familiar for regular players of this genre as it begins with the custom FMV introduction then places you, as the Art teacher Walter Hartright, at the grounds of Mr Fairlie to teach his niece Laura & Laura's half-sister Marian Halcombe. The opening puzzles that you have to solve to get into the Manor are a combination of item collecting, object hunting and exploring the screen area with your mouse to seek out any further interactable areas with the aim of finding a key to unlock the door. This theme continues once inside where your main aim is to find keys to unlock the doors within the Manor while also collecting any usable items that are used to solve puzzles to advance. These items will often be usable elsewhere in the Manor and can include items such as a hammer but will also involve collecting items to use in mini-games. The artwork is appealing and reflects the Victorian era very well especially within the hidden objects as well as the mini-games. The characters are voiced that aids character immersion and the one minor downfall is the repetitive music used during the object hunting though there are options to mute. There is also an auto-save function so, when you quit the game, it will resume again where you left off. The mini-games, specifically the fishing, can be challenging as it involves timing and aim while another mini-game involves collecting & mixing paints to restore a painting for Mr Fairlie which was vague to begin with but once you figure out what is needed to be done it can be done quickly. The story slowly advances as you expect with HOGs with characters used efficiently to maintain mystery and a mix of locations to visit for the puzzles and items. As you play you will have a journal filled in as you meet the characters/plots unravel that are a useful addition to the story providing progress to the mystery & lighting up to make you aware of updates. Beneficial features include a banner alert telling you when the puzzles are completed in each area, the obligatory hint system that sends a flash of light to the area where the hidden object is (though the refill time is slow!) but when it comes to the puzzles the hints are very minimal often 1 or 2 words!! [h1]Conclusion[/h1] Being a fan of Victorian Gothic mysteries I enjoyed the tribute to this ground-breaking genre of its time and I like how the Victorian Mysteries tag is used to feature firsts like Woman In White. The second Victorian Mysteries: Yellow Room also is ground-breaking for the genre in it being the first 'murder in a locked room' novel. HOG regulars to this genre won't find any mechanics that hadn't been used in other HOGs though I did like the mini-games I feel overall there is nothing new being shown in this but, again, I feel the Devs were more showcasing past Victorian era novels that developed a legacy for genres that still fascinate to this day rather than wanting to add new features to an already well established gaming genre. If you are fans of HOGs and admirers of classic Victorian Mysteries it will satisfy your HOG fix as the plot is faithful to the novel and the puzzles aren't too challenging outside of your typical HOG adventure.

I didn't get far enough into this game to review the story. Seemed like it might be interesting. but I couldn't get through enough of it because of the extremely clunky interface: - The action buttons appear to the side of the cursor, which is offputting. Makes it seem like there's an issue, but it's actually designed that way. - The mouse sensitivity is extremely high, and there is no way to change it. - Every action has the same sound effect. It gets really annoying really fast. - Volume issues in cutscenes - music is super loud, can barely hear speech. - There's no way to skip the startup cutscene, and it's pretty long. If you do play this, do it in one sitting. I'm an avid fan of HOGs and have played and enjoyed a lot that had mediocre interfaces. This one is pretty bad. I'll just go read the book it's based on instead for the story.
