Mystery Masterpiece: The Moonstone is a classic HOG originally released back in 2009 and it been one of the fun detective games back then. Playing it again after ten years, I still enjoy the classical music soundtracks as well as the suspect board and its information for each character. This game's story is based on a novel with the same title 'The Moonstone' and it is about a young lady, Rachel, who's inherited an indian diamond from her uncle who actually stole it from India when he used to be in the army, this diamond is extremely valuable and has a religious significance. On Rachel's 18 Birthday she received the moonstone and was stolen from her on the same night. Next morning, Franklin Blake, Rachel's childhood friend summoned an investigator who will solve this mystery by questioning each person who was in the house on the night of the incident. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1792564498 The gameplay is like most of classic Hidden Objects games, you get a list of items to find, but in this game, you are free to roam in four rooms for each suspect. You'll find mystery items that need further interaction to know more about it by finding another key item to use from another room. But the artwork of the scenes are really good, I liked everything about this game except the artwork of the characters. Надо допросить каждого жителя и осмотреть все помещения. За каждым персонажем открывается 4 локации с поисками предметов по спискам. В некоторых комнатах один из предметов может содержать простенькую мини-игру, требующую использования предмета из другой комнаты. Всю игру выискиваем определенные предметы в куче хлама. Поиски усложняет низкое разрешение картинки (1024x768) и то, что многие предметы очень мелкие и блеклые, их трудно разглядеть. Да и щелкать на крохотные объекты надо очень аккуратно - ровно по середине (на миллиметр в сторону, и игра не засчитывает находку). Хорошо, что не штрафуют за случайные клики, и можно воспользоваться подсказкой, но накапливается она довольно долго. Mystery Masterpiece: The Moonstone - и еще одна старенькая судя по виду ищуха, с механикой как оно было в 00-е. Походу из всех ищух издателя, этот тип самый неинтересный. Обзоры на подобное от этого разраба\издателя будут частично повторять друг друга. Английские войска украли у бедных индийцев драгоценный камень. Потом кто-то спер камень уже из семьи знатных бриттов. Ну а мы как заправский Пуаро, будем обыскивать теперь комнаты подозреваемых, дабы найти несчастных минерал. Геймплей здесь олдскульный и это не комплимент. Насколько мне нравятся многие современные представители жанра с качественным сюжетом, видами и обилием головоломок, настолько я не люблю старый казуальный вариант когда надо надр@чивать одно и тоже по многу раз. У нас есть 9 подозреваемых чьи комнаты мы методично обходим одну за другой, выискивая предметы из списка. Иногда это перемежается редкими пазлами. Но вся суть в бесконечном поиске. Все это усугубляется тем что настроек графики нормальных нет, а разрешение опционально по ощущениям на уровне то ли 800×600, то ли 1024x768 максимум. То есть все мелко и плохо видно. Есть в игре небольшой раздел с бонусами (музыка, арты, обои, руководство с прохождением) который кидает нас в папку с ними, причем через командную строку. Олдскул как он есть, мдя. Как итог: казуалка как они были в начале 00-х. Тогда я такого не переваривал. Сейчас тоже. Только любителям жанра как он был, остальным же советую подобрать себе ищуху поновее, здесь все слишком скучно и печально. This is a [I]very[/I] challenging pure hidden-object game. Unfortunately, it's difficult mostly because many of the objects are very, very small, and require extremely pixel-perfect clicking to register the find. Casual gamers would surely find this frustrating. But persistent hardcore hidden-object game fans might rise to the challenge and feel satisfied by completing it. That said, it seems that many scenes have at least one object that's hidden using pure evil. It might be an object just a pixel wide (the resolution is less than 1024x768), or in a color that is almost identical to its background, or it might be mostly obscured by another object. Don't be ashamed of hitting the "hint" button. Because, when it comes down to it, this kind of object hiding is simply unfair. It discriminates against people who might have cheap, blurry monitors, clumsy mouse skills, etc. It might sound like I'm joking, but I'm seriously annoyed that finishing some of these puzzles honestly is out of reach. There is no significant story to this game, and it's definitely not an "adventure". However, the premise is that you are detective looking for clues, and that fits quite well with this genre's gameplay. The little story there is works well enough... as long as you understand that the game consists entirely of hidden-object scenes. All in all, I enjoyed it despite some of the frustrations about unfairness. I love hidden-object games and appreciate the challenge. It felt like quite an achievement to complete the game!

The story of investigation is generally good and there is a lot of HOG and some minigames. But it is all. The game is quite old and it could be rather good in that time. It is hard to compare with modern games. HO screens are blurred (maybe result of enlargement of the resolution), items are usually small and it requires precise clicking. Easy to say I did not enjoy it and even did not finish it. As for me the problem was not the story or the general connecting of the places (it was quite good for such age of the game) but the HO screens and clicking mechanics. And it was the main part of the game. Only for HOG enthusiasts.

Versteckte Objekte mit programmiertechnischer Minimalleistung über dünnste Story verknüpft. "Minispiele" nur dumme Fleißaufgaben. Versteckte Objekte teilweise nicht erkennbar, es hilft aber auf nicht identifizierbare Kleckse zu klicken. Klickzone manchmal nur minimal und nicht einmal das ganze (erkannte oder nicht erkannte) Objekt gehört zu Klickzone. Auch im Sonderangebot überflüssig.

a short old ok HOG where you play as a detective look after the moonstone thief. the game was originally released in 2009. Pros. ok story ok voice acting very well hidden HOs cons. annoying music sadly no animation short. a bit less than 2 and half hours no bonus story overall for its considering the game's age i recommend it. tho only under heavy discount. i know it is cheap already. but still. i give it 5/10
