A relaxing cooking game with beautiful art and “puzzles” just light enough to stir your brain a bit, the story of Venba is probably relatable to a lot of kids who grew up with immigrant parents, and will surely make you call your mom after and tell her that you love her. As a second-generation immigrant, my parents also gave up everything to give me what they thought was a better life in Canada. The challenges that Kavin faces while growing up, and his desire to stray away from his Tamil identity is a story that I am familiar with. While I actually had the opposite problem growing up (refusing to speak English, my parents wanting to assimilate me into Canadian culture, not giving me a Chinese name on purpose etc), Kavin’s story is one I’ve heard many times from others, in particular with the generation after mine (Gen-Z), and one that I’ve seen in my younger cousins. It’s a bit short, but to all my second-gen Canadians out there, this game is for us. Embrace both your Canadian and foreign identities - that’s what living in Canada is all about.

very beautiful game, huge depth in story... felt deeply relating as an immigrant myself. however not exactly recommended if ur searching for a cooking simulator, game is very short and only has a few cooking to do. would be lovely if there is more recipes to make like surely theres more in grandma's cooking book right.
This is an incredibly emotional game that I think someone who's family immigrated can really only understand. I see a lot of myself in the main characters child and it lead me to think on my own culture and how I strayed away from it when moving to the UK as to not be seen as different. It is a beautiful narrative game
I love this game so much. The cooking is so heckin therapeutic and it's such a pretty game to look at. The food in this game looks insanely good. Loved the story as well.
小而精的一款游戏，美术风格，音乐和叙事都很棒。里面的特色食谱挺有意思的。 但与温馨画风不同的是，这个游戏讲述的是一个彻头彻尾的悲剧，女性主角，但完完全全的男性向叙事。讲的是南印度移民的故事，但能看到很多东亚家庭的影子。披着温馨的外衣讲着致郁的故事。 还有一点是整个游戏没有任何剧情跳过和快进的手段，导致二周目刷全成就的时候非常坐牢！ 这点真的非常难受，本身体量就很小，多周目重复性太高，拼进全力无法战胜，遂放弃全成就。 不过总体来说还是值得推荐的，好评给到美术和音乐
For such a short game, it was emotionally captivating. Such a beautiful story full of absolutely gorgeous and delicious foods! Shocked to find a recipe book and track list included to revisit. This game is so unbelievably rich. Excited for Game 2!
Very touching and relatable. Nothing I write here will be unique, everyone's already praising the points I wanted to. I guess I'll just leave a suggestion to localize this into Tamil, Hindi and Marathi maybe? And definitely consider adding Tamil/Tanglish audio if possible in the future. Please make more games! <3
Eine berührende Geschichte über Familie, Liebe und Traditionen. Mit den Rezepten spielt man sich durch die Story und lernt die kleine Auswandererfamilie und die indische Küche besser kennen. Optik und Gameplay sind simpel, aber absolut stimmig. Venba ist schnell durchgespielt, hinterlässt aber Eindruck.
