realism
The game recreates battles of First World War as realistically as possible - each unit has a personal inventory and weapons, vehicle damage is calculated by the thickness and inclination of armour, guns differ in calibers and available types of shells.
Authenticity
Our game recreates the atmosphere of the era of the First World War - uniforms and vehicles were made from sketches and drawings of the time of the World War I, game maps are based on real locations of hostilities. Gas attacks, shrapnel shells, horses, involvement of first tanks and flamethrowers, and many other features of the First World War have been implemented in the game.
Tactics
The basis of gameplay of the Battle of Empires is management of your infantry squads, organisation of their cooperation and skillful use of the vehicles provided to you. You will have to solve complex tactical problems with different possible outcomes, that can change the course of the mission.
Game environment can also be used to your advantage - all objects can be destroyed to create a path for infantry or used as a cover from enemy fire.
Co-op
Each story mission is available in cooperative mode - you can fight and complete the missions with three other players (4 including yourself).

В этой игре ты начинаеш ценить каждого солдата, больше больно терять их зная их имена и фомилии. Лучший симулятор ПТСР 100/10 разорваных солдат.
Genuinely some of the worst voice acting for a video game i've ever seen. Like it has kings quest V beat by miles. I don't know what the hell they were thinking with that. Most of the time you are only handling a small squad of men, doesn't really feel like ww1. Very few pitched trench battles and charging no mans land, a lot more stealth missions and open field battles. Could have been amazing, but a pretty big miss.
It's a very cool strategy game about World War I, and it's almost the only one of its kind. I've only played two DLCs so far, and I'm very satisfied with them (I played the Russian Empire). The game captures the atmosphere of World War I very well. glory to russia
Battle of Empires: 1914–1918, developed by Great War Team and published by Best Way Soft, is a real-time tactics game that commits fully to portraying the harsh, methodical nature of World War I combat. Rather than following the fast-paced conventions of traditional real-time strategy games, it adopts a slower, more deliberate approach that emphasizes positioning, resource awareness, and careful planning. Built on mechanics reminiscent of the Men of War series, it places players in control of individual soldiers and squads within highly detailed battlefields, where every decision carries weight and mistakes are often costly. One of the defining features of the game is its granular level of control. Players can issue commands to entire groups or zoom in to directly manage individual soldiers, handling their inventories, weapons, and even ammunition. This system creates a strong sense of immersion, as units are not abstract representations but tangible entities with specific capabilities and limitations. The ability to scavenge equipment from fallen soldiers or reposition heavy weapons adds another layer of tactical depth, encouraging players to think creatively in the middle of combat. Vehicles and artillery are treated with similar attention to detail, with realistic damage models that require players to consider angles, armor, and weapon types rather than relying on simple hit-point systems. The pacing of battles reflects the historical context the game aims to portray. Engagements are rarely about rapid advances or overwhelming force; instead, progress is often incremental, with players carefully pushing forward through trenches, fortifications, and heavily defended positions. The presence of elements such as barbed wire, gas attacks, and early armored vehicles reinforces the sense of fighting in a war defined by attrition. Terrain and environmental interaction play a crucial role, as cover, line of sight, and destructible structures can significantly influence the outcome of a confrontation. This creates a battlefield that feels dynamic, even within the slower tempo of the gameplay. The campaign offers a variety of missions that range from large-scale offensives to more focused operations, helping to break up what could otherwise become a repetitive loop. Each scenario presents its own tactical challenges, requiring players to adapt their approach based on available resources and objectives. Cooperative gameplay adds another dimension, allowing players to coordinate strategies in shared missions, while multiplayer modes provide competitive opportunities across different factions. There is a solid amount of content available, particularly for those willing to explore multiple campaigns and scenarios. Despite its strengths, the game’s complexity can also be one of its biggest hurdles. The interface is not particularly intuitive, and the sheer number of mechanics can feel overwhelming, especially for newcomers. Managing multiple units with detailed inventories and positioning requirements during intense engagements can quickly become demanding. In larger battles, maintaining control over the situation requires constant attention, which may be exhausting for players who prefer a more streamlined experience. Additionally, the structure of content—particularly the presence of separate campaigns and expansions—can make the overall package feel somewhat fragmented. Visually, the game delivers a mixed experience. There is a clear effort to maintain historical authenticity, with detailed models for soldiers, weapons, and vehicles that reflect the era accurately. However, the overall graphical presentation feels dated, with stiff animations and environments that lack the polish seen in more modern strategy titles. Even so, the visual design succeeds in conveying the grim atmosphere of World War I, with muddy trenches, ruined landscapes, and chaotic firefights contributing to a sense of immersion that aligns with the game’s themes. What ultimately defines Battle of Empires: 1914–1918 is its commitment to realism and tactical depth. It does not attempt to simplify its systems for broader appeal, instead focusing on delivering a detailed and methodical interpretation of warfare during one of history’s most brutal conflicts. This approach makes it highly rewarding for players who enjoy careful planning and micromanagement, but it may alienate those looking for a more accessible or fast-paced strategy experience. In the end, the game stands as a niche but ambitious title that offers a distinctive take on real-time tactics within a World War I setting. Its strengths lie in its depth, authenticity, and the level of control it gives players, while its weaknesses stem from its complexity, dated presentation, and demanding gameplay. For those willing to invest the time to understand its systems, it provides a challenging and immersive experience that captures the slow, grinding nature of trench warfare. Rating: 7/10
I really dislike their approach to sell a mod by pieces. You should know that by buying the base-game you may have 20 hours of playtime in the singleplayer campaigns. The rest of the campaigns are sold as countrypacks dlcs inlcuding the corresponding campaings and missions of those countries. In other words, I would not recommend it money-wise and if you don't want to support such practices. I only found that out after I have played 20 hours.
It is too much micromanagement to be real fun. And most commands have no hotkey so its a constant clicking through too small buttons
