While working at their dead-end job and dreaming of what could’ve been, Demian Zhao discovers a flesh-eating parasite who promises to help them finally live free. Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

When life becomes a monotonous cycle, it's not hard to grasp how someone could be pushed to the brink of violence, all in the name of feeling free. It becomes even more understandable if that person never even began to live, before being shoved out of the nest. With no gentle way out, the only chance to start anew is to snap chains and splatter organs.
Putting it that way, it was only a matter of time until Demian gave in. We can't prevent a tragedy, but we can cause their descent.

Take control of Demian Zhao, a 22 year old living on the razor-thin edge between murder and mental break. After moving to Kingsfield Beach in hopes of finding a place to call home, all of their motivation to get out and live a better life has been sapped away. Now, they survive paycheck-to-paycheck, working their miserable job at the Restful Night Motel as a cleaner.
As they become host to an ancient flower god, though, Demian will soon learn that not all is hopeless with their life; they just need to set themself free. If you let them, their humanity will slip away in exchange for their freedom.
The story revolves around Demian's own dreams, fears, desires, and bloodthirsty hatred. Every choice a player can make is a thought running through their mind at that exact moment; no action is out of character.
Will you help them pluck the worms of cruelty from their brain, or indulge in their most violent fantasies?
Taking place in the fictional city of Kingsfield Beach, Nevada, Veins Like Tapeworms will present a chilling world for readers to immerse themselves in. Kingsfield is a concrete paradise, where dreams die under gaudy casinos and neon signs. Poor little Demian’s already been swallowed whole by the city, but that doesn’t mean they can’t crawl out of its festering underbelly. All they need is a little push.
Even with a slow-burn narrative told in 8 chapters and 100,000 words, readers will be begging for more by the time the story is over.
The story of Veins Like Tapeworms is heavily dependent on choices made through a playthrough. The way Demian perceives the words and actions of those around them are influenced by the thoughts a player has allowed into their head - a heartwarming conversation in one path can become a harrowing monologue of bloodlust in another.
With 2 early endings and 4 full endings, the way Veins Like Tapeworms comes to a close is sure to shock or unnerve a player. Can you save Demian from their own violent desires, or will you let them finally give in to the rage that's boiled in their heart for years?

Curious about the damage left in your wake? 5/6 endings come with a Bonus Scene to read after the credits roll, taken from another's perspective of the aftermath! Each Bonus Scene is 100% optional, of course - though they can be accessed from the title screen at any time, they're not necessary to get the full picture.
Written, programmed and drawn entirely by one person, Veins Like Tapeworms has over 250 full-screen illustrations for a player to discover. A gallery in the title screen ensures players can revisit any piece they may have enjoyed, or see what images they haven't unlocked yet.
Tired of visual novels that simply loop one song on repeat, with no regard for sound effects to coordinate with in-game events? Look no further with Veins Like Tapeworms; the game's ambience has been meticulously crafted for utmost immersion, and practically begs for headphones.

A VN that has positively flattened my veins like no other. The story explores inhumanity at a delicious crux of intersections found in the character of Demian Zhao- dealing with the dissonance of gender dysphoria, festering generational trauma, and the long, daily degradation of self in labor and poverty. The story moves forward in fascinating ways from here, driven by Demian's history and the new upheaval of living with the horror that now blooms inside them. Veins Like Tapeworms is made with a passion, sincerity, and guttural emotional resonance that comes when its pulled from the very guts of its maker. Every CG and line, every character and how their histories and humanities are warped by Demian's festered rage, and every choice has been crafted with care for a story and a vision that resonate with any who have felt the sludge of the world eating one away from without and within. A VN that's well worth its value to experience- every rotting, blooming step.
I really love the way this game does body horror, excellent work

Nice story about (among other things!) how... transformative... it is to lash out at those who hurt you. Really nice how even within the three main paths (kind, normal, cruel) paths there is space for choice, and I didn't even get every visual apparently! (only like 99% or something) Nice UI (to my surprise, made in RPGMaker). The auto mode could be a bit faster, but that's probably just me being impatient.
This game tells a story about social isolation, resentment and being chained by an awful past that taught you all the wrong lessons. If you've ever been stuck in an awful, stressfull job where you hated your boss and all of your coworkers while barely keeping it together, this game might be for you. The way Veins Like Tapeworms uses its body horror to make its points feels so natural, as if this is what horror was always meant to be. Genuinely touching and incredibly heartfelt. If you can relate to the main character at all, I promise you will get something out of it.
Was absolutely floored by how well put together this VN is, especially for the engine it was made in. Visually and audibly intuitive with superb sound design especially towards the end, and boasts a story that's more than gripping enough to make you want to see Demian to the end no matter what path you send them on.
Bought this on a whim and enjoying it so far.
Veins Like Tapeworms is a simple and interesting Visual Novel I wasn't expecting to like as much as I was. Back in October of 2024 I was playing through the demoes of several games since I was in a game exploring mood. I tried the demo of this game on a whim and to my surprise it was my favorite game of the demoes I played. A Visual Novel needs two things in order to really click, a good and unique art style (with good art direction to match) and good writing. I am happy to say this game has both. You play as a traumatized AFAB enby named Damien who is stuck in a ♥♥♥♥ job and is being coerced to doing more labor then they are being paid for. The writing reflects the ugly reality of how trauma and the brutal demands of the system twists you up extremely well, so much so that when I showed screenshots of this game to my wife (whom has endured her share of the worst of the world) her exact words were "What game is this and who's been reading my mind?" Real recognizes real and the writing came from a very real place. Another quote from somebody I showed this game to sums up the experience the early parts of this game captures. "Bleak, disgusting, and terrifyingly real. Reminds me exactly what it was like being homeless." The core plot premise outside the setting is that early in the game you find a symbiotic organism that promises to fix the ways the world broke you, and to have the strength to get sweet revenge on those who have hurt you. From there the game proceeds with Damien dealing with their trauma while negotiating the nature of their relationship with this creature, having to figure out where they are with the few social bonds they have in a world that has broken them so badly they can only assume the worst in people. However despite this, the protagonist is still sympathetic and likeable. Other games sometimes go too far and make a victim of trauma a...to keep this review family friendly (even though this game isn't), let's call them a turbo-jerk (see also why I stopped really caring about the MC in Mojika). However, AwesomeTrinket managed to make Damien sympathetic in a very real way while still being flawed, all in a way far too many people who were hurt by the various cruel vicissitudes of life can relate to. The game is far from perfect, but most of the imperfections appear to spawn from limitations of time, money, and scope. Anyway, the bottom line is that if you are looking for a simple indie VN about trauma, grief, and pain that feels very real; as well as the complex challenges of navigating, this is definitely a choice I would recommend. Short and somewhat limited in scope, but it will make you feel things.
waow
This game is an absolute banger. I don't have anything deep to say about it, but Demien is the type of character I absolutely adore~! Gods, I put these sorts of vibes into quite a few of my characters. Not all of them at once, but scattered bits and pieces. They hit close to home in that regard, seeing reflections of my own creations in them. Seeing this character develop along the different routes was quite fun! I will say I have my preferences on the routes, buuuut... I won't spoil which ones I like the most! Play the game yourself! I wanna put this game in my profile showcase! It's a good one!
From what little I've played of this game so far i am really enjoying it,this visual novel depictions of self loathing and gender dysphoria is well done. The visuals are striking and eye catching and the music and ambience set the scenes well,i look forward to seeing how this plays out.
