The thrid of the Pixel Pulp serfies of visual novels with gorgeous EGA style graphics. I like this one more than Bahnsen Knights but not as much as Mothmen 1966. As usual, I wish there was more story and less frustrating minigames that feel like they're just there to pad things out. Still a fun time though. I hope we get more.
Overall it is an enjoyable, short experience (you can get to the credits in under two hours). I would recommend it, especially when on sale, but there are a couple cons I want to point out: -The controls for the minigames are clunky. Not a huge deal, but there is a rhythm game that's a little annoying because of it. -The writing is overall good with two exceptions. The writer incorporates a lot of tropes seemingly because they think they're "supposed to," and the latter part of the game also feels rushed. Most of the game feels well placed, like they had been unpacking their bag one item at a time to give each room to breathe, but they then all of a sudden dumped the bag on the ground as if to say, "...and then the rest happened." Maybe they ran out of time or they lost motivation to give the remaining effort the game needed.
I loved this coming of age story mixed with a Stand By Me vibe (oh yeah, and vampires!). Beautiful art and choice of colours too. Just wished the soundtrack had been more present.
It's a treat for pixel art, visual novels, and pulp lovers.
Fun visual novella with great pixel art.
