Currently playing the game and Here is my review! I love the idea of a FPS style Vaporwave maze game i always thought someone out there would make it, Sure enough here it is, Do i recommend this game? Yup! I'm also excited for what this games future will become and it may be Early access but i see this game will have a bright future!
Got this on sale, and I have to start with its cool to see a different genre for Vaporwave games. 𝒫𝑜𝓈𝓉𝒾𝓋𝑒𝓈 +Music is everything I was hoping it was, real easy to vibe into. +𝔸𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕤 are outstanding and colorful, got a alot of good references around the mazes too +Maze Changes every playthrough making for fun replay value +I shouldn't even need to mention this but fun For the most part this game pretty tight, But... 𝓝𝓮𝓰𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓼 -No Multiplayer (this would be really sick to play with 2-4 people) -Despite the Random Map Generations Its not enough change to how it plays -Could use some different styles to each floor to keep it interesting Overall not bad but before I rate this may I suggest: A Map Creator The Ability to add your own media (mp3,ect) as a music choice More Weapons and add achievements and emotes 7.8/10 👌
TLDR: In it's current state this game is a Thumbs down for sure. pay $2 less and buy "Gunfire Reborn" but i have a thumb up because there is a glimmer of hope here...but currently Not Worth it; unless u want to support the dev and the future of this game....because the now is not so hot, but there is potential. This game is Definitely EARLY access as stated though.. Good: game is early in development so there is hope. game has a nice fun look to it. There is strategy needed to progress such as stealth when near certain enemies. Also save your bullets for when you actually need them. If you run out of bullets and you will your offhand weapon is a spring that gives you distance by knocking back enemy but no damage. also not every robot is out to kill you. save bullets for the ones trying to kill you like the level 2 annoying alert snakes. Final good point is game level is a bit of a maze you must find your way through to the hole/tube/portal/whatevertheroundthingisyougointo. oh ya also you are able to upgrade your character permanently for your future runs if you are lucky enough to make it to another level alive with currency. Bad: I cannot change the inputs.... this is THE NUMBER 1 thing needing to be fixed. Why can't I change my bomb button from T? etc etc. buttons are pre bound and you cant really do anything about it. Next bullets for your gun are few and far between so if you run out you have no way to kill anything as you are left with your offhand spring thing that does zero damage. and if you are being chased by more than one enemy it's game over because you cant do anything with a spring and no bullets. also you get bombs which could use some work. and are kind of lack luster. Overall: This game is currently in early access and that's why i thumbed it up. it has promise and some good as well as not so hot ideas. There is promise here but this game needs A Lot of work. I got spoiled playing Gunfire Reborn which is the super polished version of this game that is actually super playable and fun right now... this game isn't fun now but has some promise. There needs to be more ammo drops. more ways to hurt enemies. more everything... but again this is early access. I feel there is hope but this is nowhere near the game you really want called "Gunfire Reborn" in it's current state. Verdict: Buy Gunfire Reborn =be happy Buy Vapormaze =buyers remorse currently but hopeful for future hence the reason for the thumbs up.
Super cool game, I wish more people knew about it!
ive tested the game before being released. developer did nice in game design , UI and game sounds (sound effects and music) btw the game still needs some improvements in physics and mechanics and shooting system.
Fun, yet hard game
Inhale that vapor into your nostrils and feel the sadness of quirky executed game with some neat ideas. Roguelike FPS with vending machines and bad robots trying to annihilate humans. Collect cash and diamonds. Buy weapons, bombs, sentry guns, medkits and ammo. Good way is to place sentry in the middle of room to take care of pesky enemies without losing bullets. 2 guns - one is with infinite ammo but do minor damage, other one require ammo to shoot. Ammo is limited but can be bought at vending machines as well weapons and upgrades. Movement is a bit quirky making player stuck sometimes but nothing game breaking just jumping out of it usually helps. Goal is to survive through 7 mazes, each one gets more complex and difficult. AI leave much to be desired. Some enemies are stuck near walls or underneath something making it difficult to shoot them. Levels are filled with different trash slowing player down and making it a bit troublesome to navigate through. Music sounds like from some old VHS. Hard to recommend. If you like roguelike FPS better to play Tower of Guns or Mothergunship.
boy this is just exactly the sort of thing i needed today. simultaneously chill as hell and hard as balls, beautiful with a killer soundtrack, and fun movement and physics mechanics. i can see how some folks who aren't in the venn diagram of fans of vaporwave, roguelites, and goofy physics games might not get it, but it's genuinely a super creative and entertaining game. i've gotten stuck once and had mobs clip into the walls so it does feel like this needed more time in early access, but considering how i've spent the past week looking for a new roguelite fps to chill out to, but i somehow couldn't find this game until i saw it in the new releases, i can't really fault the dev for releasing early when valve does such a bad job letting me find things but anyway i hope this review made sense, i think this game did something to my brain. buy this if you like it when games do things to your brain!
