S U M M A R Y
Vanaris Tactics - Prologue allows you to play the first three battles and view a few cutscenes from Vanaris Tactics (the full game). Overall, I would not recommend the game at its current price (10.00 USD) due to its extremely basic gameplay, its generic story and passable writing with out-of-place dialogue, and lack of basic quality of life options that should be present in a strategy RPG.

R E V I E W

Gameplay
The gameplay is extremely basic - there is no job system, each character has a skill that uses SP (the equivalent of MP), each character can only equip certain types of weapons, and the equipment system is limited to three slots per character. That being said, a prevalent mechanic of the game is the fact that certain weapons can inflict status effects on the enemies they hit. Unfortunately, since the Prologue forces you to play the first three battles instead of showcasing a later battle with more things at your disposal, you really don't get to see the game's true potential. The gameplay is also very slow in general - characters walk very slowly around the battle map.
Graphics
The first thing that catches your attention in the game is the graphics — they might make you think of the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance series; however, the graphics are where the similarities end. The graphics themselves look very good but I find the attack animations to be rushed and very minimal in nature which is disappointing.
Sound
The music is pretty forgettable, so much so that I can't even think of anything to write for this section.
Story
The story seems quite standard from what we get to see in the Prologue but the battles and cutscenes seem to be disconnected. There is also no introductory scene which sets the stage or gives more backstory and context to the game itself, as well as the cutscenes you do get to see, so it doesn't even feel like you're playing a complete game. Hopefully the Prologue isn't a direct copy of what's in the full game otherwise the story doesn't seem like it will really get fleshed out properly. One thing to point out about the story is the dialogue which feels extremely out of place. The characters use terms such as "badass" and "chill" which just feels very out of place to me in a fantasy setting like this. The writing itself is passable but it's obvious that the developer isn't a writer.
Miscellaneous
The game could definitely use a number of quality of life improvements such as being able to display all text immediately, the ability for characters to move faster on the battle map, and being able to wrap the cursor when you're at the top or bottom of a list. The game also has a balance issue wherein speedier character will tend to get more turns than all other characters. Normally this isn't a problem but it's quite exaggerated this early on and if it's this evident in the first three battles then I can only imagine how exacerbated it would be later on in the game.
Conclusion
If you're looking for a strategy RPG to play, I instead recommend looking at Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark which recently went on sale for 7.50 USD and has much more depth. If you're willing to take a chance on a more unknown strategy RPG in the same price range, you can also take a look at Cascade Tactics for 8.00 USD or Fae Tactics which regularly goes on sale for 10.00 USD.
I wouldn't really recommend it, but it is free so no harm in trying it out if you like. Maybe the full version will be better polished. Although it isn't terrible, it doesn't really do anything to stand out and doesn't measure up to the games it borrows from. Most likely you will end up wishing you were playing any other tactics RPG instead. To that end I could recommend the following series instead: Final Fantasy Tactics/Advance, Tactics/Ogre Battle, Fire Emblem, Disgaea, Fell Seal, Druidstone, XCOM, Battletech, Valkyria Chronicles, Fae Tactics, Mercenary Saga. +Art style +Music +Mouse support +Turn-based tactics -Very pixelated -No key rebinding -Facing issues, no zone of control -UI issues, sometimes blocks move/view -No saving -Very short/demo only -Thin story -Balance issues -No exit button -No choices on levelup -No class/job choices
Recomendo.
this game is very basic and i would go neutral because being basic isn't bad for some people but after playing i will not be getting the game but i'm still upvoting this because it could still appeal to others. here you get 2 battles (main game is 15) with all 3 of your characters (an archer and 2 melee). you get abilities to use outside your main attack and status effects that work a bit differently than most game as they are applied only after filling a bar from hits (2-3) from a weapon with said effect. reading the main games forums there are no job systems though i think the game it to short for it anyway. one thing that bothers me is having to use the arrow keys to move around the map. the story is about a rebellion after an invading force took measures to delete the protagonist religion and anyone who still followed it. the game is based off tactics ogre/final fantasy tactics (same devs) and the ogre battle games have always been very political. this story even reminds me of the grapples from ogre battle 64. if i do end up with this game i'll do a better review over there. for indie devs basic is ok if its done well and i can't judge that on only 2 levels.
Vanaris Taktikleri'nin Giriş bölümünü oynayın. Vanaris'in duvarlarının dışında özgürlük arayan bir grup mülteciye liderlik edin ve Vanaris Tactics'in ilk üç savaşını ve hikayesini deneyimleyin.
combat is rly dull, movement is slow, kinda boring, needs polish gameplay wise. there is no visual indication or design that makes the player understand how the mechanics work, such as which are the enemies and allies (since somehow i can attack my own ally thus making me think that it's an enemy), how SPs recharge and when SPs are insufficient for a certain skill, which and how vantage points work. story wise is a bit samey from like generic plots there isn't something that convinces the player how big the stakes are even though this is a prologue. it's not really engaging, least to say, but it is a great attempt by the developer on making a tactics RPG. Despite the great flaws in gameplay, the sprite work i can say is really impressive and visually it's perfectly polished. I can say that this developer is a skilled pixel artist, but he just really needs to study great game design and implement it to make his storytelling effective and not let his hard work in the graphics go to waste just because the core of the game, which is a tactics game, fails to deliver.
