About
You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. You will explore the city through his eyes as well as those of the Nomad, as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that is threatening undead and mortal society alike.
Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.

Blood sustains you and empowers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population at night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on unsuspecting mortals to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Remember, you are not the only creature that goes bump in the night.
Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on your choice of vampire clan. Will you engage in close combat with supernatural strength, attack from a distance with blood sorcery, or silently thin the herd like the apex predator you are? Your clan choice will support these playstyles and more.

Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rail against it. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions, not to mention the mortals at stake in the clash of powers beyond their knowing. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.

A hollow shell of a game. The only reason I did not get a refund was I bought when I was sick and passed out while playing taking me over the refund time window. Nothing but fetch quests, shallow interactions, and poor character development. At no point did it ever feel like I was actually making a choice.
I preordered this since it was FIRST on the Steam store. I went through many ups and down, only to get a game that doesn't feel like what I expect in a Bloodlines game. This shouldn't even have Bloodlines in it's title. It should have something unrelated in my personal opinion. It's fine for what it is, but it's not a bloodlines game, and I lost interest at the very beginning. I went to see what the game is like later on, which made me lose interest even more. I cannot recommend this title, as it's NOT a Bloodlines title, it's not a sequel, it's another franchise stripped of it's RPG aspects to the point you are whom the story wants you to be.
If you approach it as a linear action experience in the veins of a dishonored it's a really good game and doesn't deserve the hate it gets. It moslty gets hated for what it isn't instead of what it is.
BUY IF:

- you want a good story that keeps you guessing

- you don't mind approaching it as a linear experience doing only main quests
side quests are USELESS and are ALL just fetch quests, 0 story, ALL THE SAME, just useful to gain points for your build, DON'T BOTHER WITH THEM.
- you are not bothered of the duality of the gameplay
the gameplay has detective sections where you'll spend time only moving from location to location and talking to people/interacting (for me it was interesting because i was invested in the story, but some pepole might find them boring) 🟩PROS: + Story + Characters (especially Fabien) + Gameplay 🟥CONS: - Side quests useless fetch quests with 0 story - traversal through the city feels a slog I was expecting the game to incentivize me to get on rooftoops and glide around the city to get faster to locations, in reality there just isn't enough buildings and it's usually a waste of time trying to find a way up, you'll take less time running to the mark. This doesn't make sense.
VTM Bloodlines 2 gets announced (Hell Yeah!) Half-way through production Paradox cancels the game for 2 whole years. Then proceeds to give it another game dev that completely changes everything. Wait for another 4 years It finally comes out. Stutters and freezes at random. Clans are stuck behind paywalls. RPG is little to none. A ♥♥♥♥ ton of bugs. Gameplay is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 95% Its a fetch quest. Writing is obnoxious. Game is called Bloodlines 2 but has nothing to do with Bloodline. Waited for 6 long years just to get another slop game.
(Français, lire plus bas) EN 🔷🔷🔷In Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 you are an Elder, one of the most powerful vampires. Except, not quite. For some unknown reason, you awaken weakened, and you must play the dog for the Prince of Seattle, trying to understand your condition and find a cure. Alongside this, you'll encounter Fabien, a Malkavian detective. ---> It's a "relaxing RPG with action" set in the World of Darkness universe. 🟨The RPG elements aren't very prominent. There are 6 possible endings, but the game is linear, and your choices and relationships have NO impact on the main storyline. BUT they will influence the very end of your playthrough. When I say "end," I mean: THE LAST MINUTE shown right after the final boss and just before the credits. What a shame. In terms of RPG gameplay, there are no skill points (strength, intelligence, etc. – they don't exist here), just a small talent tree with 4 abilities specific to your clan, and you can also unlock those of other clans. There's no inventory either. 🟩Customization is okay: male or female, 5 hairstyles and colors, face accessories, and plenty of eyes. Everything is unisex, even the outfits. Your clothing, which unlocks along with your abilities, influences how NPCs perceive you, but it's practically useless. 🟩Combat is dynamic: abilities, melee and ranged weapons, kicks, blocks… it's impressive. Each clan has a different combat animation for the MC, a small detail I appreciated. Rooftop movement is excellent: a feeling of speed and freedom. 🟨The Masquerade is run much like GTA or Cyberpunk 2077: if you're seen using a vampire power, cops arrive as if you've committed a terrorist act (lol), but you can simply climb onto the rooftops to hide and wait. 🔴The environment is boring; for an open world, it's ridiculous. No buildings to explore, nothing to discover. As for the city, there are no vehicles on the move, a few pedestrians, a lot of police, but otherwise it's empty since you can't enter any buildings except those with NPCs for "side quests," and if you attack, you have to immediately hide on the rooftops. 🟩The plot is interesting: Why are you awake and weak? What is the past of Detective Fabien? The side quests are always the same: kill an enemy, find an item... It's awful, there's NOTHING besides the main story, except for earning bonus relationship points (which might influence the ending). 🔴No romance. 🟩The graphics are nice. Our main character is handsome. The important NPCs are well-designed, but the others are ugly. There are some good staging ideas during the action cutscenes and arenas, with beautiful colors and lighting, but the dialogue shots are basic. The textures are sometimes ugly. 🟩Great atmosphere: tense when it needs to be, calm at the right time, etc. The voice acting is really good. 🟨Bugs. ⭐️⭐️⭐️I finished the game plus side quests (35 hours, but now it's more like 25h), and I felt like a servant to everyone, when I'm supposed to be an Elder, a well-known legend. It was frustrating, I have to admit. Luckily, I enjoyed the main story! Overall, the immersion is average for an RPG, mainly due to the seemingly lifeless "open world" environment and the scarcity of NPCs and side quests. The sections with Fabien break the rhythm and are repetitive, but they're not bad. I grew attached to this Malkavian. In the end, I enjoyed playing and I'm satisfied with the ending I got. Despite all the negative points I found, I like it. 🔷PS: Yes, I played VTM Bloodlines 1, which I finished 3 times, and I'm a huge fan. I won't compare them because they're different in their gameplay and what they have to offer.
This isn't a sequel to Bloodlines. Forget the same vein, this isn't even in the same circulatory system as Bloodlines. The true sequel to Bloodlines died ages ago, its soul lost to deepest harrowing, banished to the darkest realms beyond Stygia where the dreaded Malfeans dwell. Only the Hierarchy can claim to know its fate deep in the Abyss, and they speak not of the matter. No, this is a dread amalgam cobbled together from the leftover viscera of three different projects made by three different companies, many long gone and forgotten, coerced into dread unlife by foul Tzimisce "artists" and the creeping servants of the Wyrm that run Paradox Interactive. The bones in here lay a solid foundation, as awkward and mismatched as they are. The story and narrative are, actually, rather good. The combat and stealth are serviceable. The world, while soulless and empty, is beautiful in a strange and haunting way, a fitting visage for a creature of the night. The investigation elements may be lacking in execution, but the concept is sound. The foul ritual to raise this behemoth was enacted by the Technomancers with the best of intentions, but there is something to be said about what the road paved with such intentions leads to. The execution is simply lacking. The serviceable parts never come together to be something greater than their sum. The open world is pointless and derivative. Collectables and side quests exist only to waste your time. Experience is given freely, but unlocks require droll and tedium that would drive even the most obsessive of Fishmalks back to sober rationality. Your character, your clan, and your choices mean little in service of the greater narrative at play. There will be no "role-playing" here. The Storyteller will not hear your pleas. The disparate elements lack focus, like a brand-new creature of the darkness, throwing two or three dice into every single skill to the point of late-campaign uselessness, crippled with the aggravated damage accrued from the death of two development companies, one publisher, and what remains of its sire, the White Wolf. Perhaps it is fortunate that it outlasted its creators, for they could not be present to bask in the shame and turpitude evoked by their errant childe. I did not hate my time with Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, but I did not enjoy it either. It is an open-world action-stealth RPG given to a developer that had zero experience in the corporate buzzwords that their masters within the Black Labyrinth demanded. It was neither bad, nor good, merely fine, serviceable, adequate. But it is also incredibly expensive for a game that is merely "fine" even on sale, and it released during a year positively festooned with Game of the Year contenders. As such, there is very little reason to purchase or play this game. It is better consigned to Oblivion, where it should have rested before, secure in the inviolate palace of memory and nostalgia, rather than resurrected in this dark mockery of life. Also, Phyre is a stupid name.
It was an alright game, I liked it. The boss fights are probably my favorite part, which isn't exactly what I was looking for in a VTMB sequel. It had some cool set-pieces, the combat was kind of fun, the detective in your head dynamic was neat, but this game fails as a successor to VTMB. The endings aren't remarkably varied. The side quests have no character and are basically pointless but for experience points, they may as well have not been included. The clans and dialogue options barely make a difference. The romance systems with the Primogen seem tacked on and ultimately don't add much. Messing with character builds doesn't really do anything outside of combat. They patched in sneaking past enemies and the ability to use weapons but the game clearly wasn't designed with these systems in mind so they kind of just feel like 3rd party content. I was hoping the VTMB sequel would stay closer to the original, introduce you to fun characters in side quests, allow you more ways to solve your problems, and offer clan options that significantly change how you approach the game, but it ended up being a kind of decent action game. I like it. I'm a sucker for vampire stuff. It's a fun game, but it was disingenuous to market it as a sequel to Bloodlines 1. Paradox had to get ROI from their botched handling of this franchise somehow I guess.
