Nowadays it seems like it's only the games that noone's heard about that can still surprise you or disappoint you like the rest of the gaming industry in recent years. This title is the former and it deserves it's name by all accounts. Valor is a very enjoyable and well put together game that holds more surprises than this years christmas tree. If ur like me before the purchase you probably have never heard of the game, seen the game or thought much of it if you happened to scroll through the store. But make no mistake, what you purchase for little money will give you more bang for your buck than most other games even if the game is not on sale. For me it was 7.99 for a nice ARPG like, Arena-Survival game with roguelike gamemodes and grind possibilitys to refine your Characterbuilds. What defines your Character in this game, that you choose from 5 Gladiators will depend on what runes you equip. The runes can be hit or miss but leave for some very interesting builds for different scenarios and purposes for each character. You will start out weak, unlock the skilltree gradually have more stats to push more statrequirement content and will feel the strength of your character and enemies go up gradually. The best mods will come from higher tier runes which will affect top and bottom end rolls so you'll always want to keep trying to get exactly what you want for each character and purpose. Luckily farming them isn't all too difficult and gives you something to do over multiple hours in the game you purchased to spend time playing. Lucky you huh. The Characters are voice acted, are all unique in their gameplaystyles and can be finetuned to how you wish to play the game with the only limitation being your time, effort and understanding. The Campaign doesn't take very long to finish on the pleb and gladiator difficultys but when you're done with those the roguelike modifiers can be activated for better loot and a fresh and new gameplay experience where you do not start from 0 but always leave with more than you had before. Temporary bonuses are temporary but you'll always get something for your time, so you'll never feel robbed. Albeit not every mode will grant rewards on failure when you bite off more than you can chew. The gameplay is smooth, graphics are alright, attacks and abilitys of you and your enemies are easy to understand and the solution to your problem in here only require you and your brain. lovely. There is incentive to grind, have fun and find new approaches here. With 5 Characters most people should atleast find one they enjoy and with the devs actively listening to feedback and suggestions and already proving more capable than inflated ego AAA devs i highly recommend this game to anyone that could see themselves having fun with this underappreciated Gem of a game. It's fun, it's cheap, life's short so play some games.
Game is quite fun, polished and constantly being updated. It is nothing massive, but it's a nice little indie game by a single developer and I enjoy it greatly. Also try Outpost, a free game made by the developer too; it will give you a taste of his style.
It is pretty fun if a little grindy. I wish the environments were dangerous to the enemies as well. The gameplay mostly consists of circle strafing the baddies, using a mixture of basic attacks and your three main abilities. There is definitely some potential here. I like the upgrade system and the achievements providing actual advancement. https://youtu.be/octMUkUWAEs
I like the concept of the game very much. The ability to progress through the levels and return to earlier ones to unlock certain stuff you couldn't before is always a progression mechanic that I love. The various unlocks you can get are awesome and make you progress further and further. The mechanics of the different zones are also really good and simple enough to start the game with. It gives a good intro to what is expected of the player in order to beat certain levels more easily. (main example would be the flowers levels, where you have to jump on the spawning saplings to destroy them and prevent them from spawning). Naturally i ran into some bugs but none that really brake the game, i always had a smooth ride along the levels and always had a finished game state at the end. My feedback has been passed to the developers and I suggest you all do that too. A lot of potential here. -Maybe you could even add more build paths for each class to change things up and make certain equipment favor certain builds. A lot of scalability here.
Valor is a hack’n’slash set on different environments and arenas when you fight horde of enemy with you’re character. Graphics (7 / 10) : The graphics are nice, the 3 atmospheres are quite unique, differents types of foes and boss. Gameplay (5.5 / 10) : The battle gameplay is well done, 3 characters to control (Warrior, Mage, Archer), each of them have a basic attack, 3 special skills and a passive hability, and you can easely combo some of you’re attack. Some foes have some special technique and each boss have a unique patern and a way to kill them. Unfortunately, the game have a lack of character progression, you just win some minor stats upgrade at level up, and can level up you’re skill, and use some runes for minor boost; but there no loot system (weapon, armor … / for get extra boost on stats) and in general attack boost and really too low and foes have more and more health. Also you will get gold during each level but I don’t have see use for it, a future add from the developper ? There no true gamepad support (at last for moving and skills). Price (6 / 10) : The game have 15 levels set in 3 arenas, that will take around 2+ hours for finish the game on lower difficulty (The game is also not easy in this difficulty), and even more if you go for higher difficulty. The game will often ask you for level-up for progress, mainly for boss fight, but the farm system is quite repetitive and no way for exemple to play the previous level with higher level up for winning more experience. The game cost around 4 euros, that pretty ok with what the game have to offer actually. Story/Music/Optimisation (6/10) : No story The Music and sound design are ok, music are quite calm for concentrate into the battle. Nothing to say for optimisation, fluid and no problem with freeze (played on a i5, 2Go VRAM and 8Go RAM). Final Note (6.1 / 10) : Valor is a arena hack’n’slash with a good battle system, high difficulty but a little lack of character progress, for the little price is a simple pleasant game that may become really good with the future update. + : - Battle gameplay. - 3 Characters with differents way to play them. - Many types of enemy and strategy for the boss. - 3 Arenas with all differents atmospheres. - : - No gamepad control. - Really high difficulty. - Lack of character progress.
Surprisingly enjoyable and playable arena brawler on easy difficulty; anything higher involves obligatory brutal grind. You can choose from three gladiators, with the fourth gladiator being purchased with in-game gold. Because you can just go around the arena and shoot at adversaries, the archer is the easiest pick. You fight your way through four worlds, with a boss at the end. Each planet has five levels, usually with one of three goals: eliminate all foes, stay alive, or entertain the crowd (kill enemies with special attacks). Combat is simple. You have three unique skills that recharge quickly and a basic attack. I'm missing some sort of audible cue that indicates when the ability is ready. Now you’re required to keep an eye on the bottom of the screen where you can find a health bar and three special ability icons. I find the placement a bit problematic because it’s hard to see or target enemies coming from the bottom. Difficulty changes the number of affixes, which is just a fancy word for traps and modifiers. These are random and different every time you play a stage. Some of them are saws flying across the arena and stronger foes. The good news is that purchasing gadgets with coins can make things a little easier. The bad news is that they are extremely expensive and must first be unlocked by finishing a world. Combat earns you cash and experience points, which you can spend to upgrade your special skills and basic attack. Leveling up is quick; in the first world, you can already upgrade about half of the skill tree. Another item you can use is runes (max. 2). They are obtained by defeating a boss, and the quality of them is determined on the difficulty level. In Valor, achievements are very important. You can get permanent perks like faster attack or more health by completing them. You can grind each of them because they have multiple levels. I was playing on the warrior (medium) difficulty and had no problems until the second stage's boss. The issue is the ever-increasing number of spitting flowers that cannot be eradicated fast enough. Because you don't deal enough damage, they flood the arena before you can defeat the boss. You're now forced to choose between lowering the difficulty and grinding. But even that won't help you because enemies can one-shot you on higher difficulties, are faster, with more health, etc. And you're stuck with the skills you already maxed...
Small but well thought out game. good selection of playstyles in both charachters and adversaries. paired with slightly whacky themes makes for an extremely solid one-man-build game.
Its alright. Gameplay Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTkEoKW9oSU&list=PLIhWkZM76kX2r3jKGtnNF-P7f01rMS3_O&ab_channel=Sorrowh
Playthrough here: https://youtu.be/2DDFu2CpMTM This game is a blast to play I love that it has a leaderboard which gives it a ton of replayability the attacks look a bit wonky, but I love the customization that's allowed with the runes and the characters all play vastly different. It's got a ton of game modes and a pretty interesting story/world definitely recommend it.
