VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- is a stylized action brawler developed by Meteorise in collaboration with HONEY∞PARADE GAMES and published by Marvelous, presenting a bold blend of high-speed combat, character-focused storytelling, and anime-inspired spectacle. Set within the larger Valkyrie Drive universe, the game takes place on Bhikkhuni Island, a quarantined training ground for girls affected by a mysterious virus that manifests extraordinary combat abilities. From the outset, the title makes its intentions clear: it is an unapologetically flashy, personality-driven experience that prioritizes kinetic action and stylized presentation over grounded realism, positioning itself firmly within a specific niche of Japanese action games. The narrative framework centers on a duality between characters known as Liberators and Extars, whose unique relationship defines both the lore and the mechanics of the game. The story unfolds through visual novel-style segments that introduce the island, its rules, and a colorful cast of characters, gradually revealing interpersonal tensions and the underlying mysteries of the Valkyrie system. While the overarching plot is relatively straightforward, it serves primarily as connective tissue between combat encounters, focusing more on character interactions and thematic flavor than on complex world-building. This approach gives the game a rhythm that alternates between story-heavy downtime and intense bursts of action, mirroring the structure of an episodic anime series. At its core, VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- is built around fast-paced, arena-style combat that emphasizes momentum and crowd control. Players engage waves of enemies using fluid combo chains, launchers, and evasive maneuvers that keep battles dynamic and visually expressive. The controls are responsive and forgiving, making the game accessible to newcomers, while still offering depth through timing, positioning, and combo optimization. Combat encounters are designed to feel energetic rather than punishing, encouraging aggressive play and rewarding players who maintain offensive pressure rather than retreating into defensive patterns. A defining gameplay feature is the Drive system, which allows characters to enter heightened combat states by synchronizing with their partners. This mechanic not only amplifies damage output but also alters attack properties and visual effects, turning routine encounters into explosive showcases of power. Managing these transformations adds a light layer of strategy, as players must decide when to activate them for maximum impact, especially during tougher enemy waves or boss fights. While the overall mechanical depth is moderate compared to hardcore character-action games, the Drive system gives combat a distinctive identity and reinforces the game’s thematic emphasis on partnership and synergy. Between missions, players can explore hub areas on Bhikkhuni Island, interact with other characters, and engage in bonding events that deepen relationships and unlock additional content. These segments slow the pace deliberately, offering customization options such as outfits and stat-affecting accessories, as well as narrative scenes that flesh out personalities and rivalries. This loop of action, downtime, and progression helps maintain variety throughout the campaign, even when mission objectives themselves follow familiar patterns. Visually, VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- leans heavily into its anime roots, featuring bright color palettes, expressive character models, and exaggerated effects that heighten the sense of spectacle. The PC version benefits from improved resolution and performance over its original handheld release, making combat clearer and smoother during hectic encounters. While environments are relatively compact and reused across missions, the focus on character animation and combat effects ensures that battles remain visually engaging. Sound design complements this style with energetic music tracks and impactful audio cues that reinforce the game’s arcade-like feel. Reception among players has largely reflected an appreciation for what the game sets out to do. Fans of anime-styled action titles often praise its fluid combat, character variety, and confident presentation, while critics tend to note repetition in mission structure and a narrative that favors tone and style over depth. The inclusion of additional modes and multiplayer options extends replayability, particularly for players who enjoy refining combat performance or experimenting with different character pairings. Ultimately, VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- succeeds by fully committing to its identity. It does not attempt to broaden its appeal through restraint or realism, instead delivering a focused experience built around fast action, expressive characters, and a distinctive thematic hook. For players who enjoy energetic brawlers with anime aesthetics and a strong emphasis on character dynamics, it offers a cohesive and entertaining journey that prioritizes fun and spectacle above all else. Rating: 8/10
Senran Kagura without the charm. The girls are cute though.
Games is hack and slash, similar to Senran Kagura. If you play really good hack-and-slash games, this is not that good, but for a casual player it is good. The main pull of the game is fan service, and man it is packed in that regard...
还真有点好玩 收集品藏得有点小阴

There are many problems with this game. Firstly, it hung in the loading menu three times in one day. There’s a beta that did appear to fix this, but it is wild a game that is 8 years old still hasn’t had this problem fixed in the full release version. Secondly, the combat is shallow and there’s a ton of busy work to try and disguise this. There are three different collectibles and two time-wasting ranking systems. I didn’t even bother with the challenges or survival modes. Finally, the boss fights are just awful. They are not challenge; they are tedious. I’m a completionist and I can’t be bothered to go back and try and 100% this game. I got the true ending; I’m done.
si bien me gustó el juego, la verdad es qué tiene unos controles un poco raros, creo que rígidos seria la mejor manera de describirlos
Garbage dynasty warriors combat.
