About

Vagrus is an award-winning roleplaying game with a narrative focus, open-world exploration, and strong elements of strategy. The player takes the role of a vagrus - a caravan leader who strives to survive in a strange and perilous dark fantasy world by leading a traveling company on all kinds of ventures.

A vast realm is yours to explore, filled with unique locations, strange factions, and a colorful cast of characters. In order to punish the Empire for its sins, the Elder Gods unleashed their power a thousand years ago that resulted in the devastation of the realms. The continent is now a wasteland, riddled with arcane anomalies, swarming with twisted monsters, and haunted by roaming undead even after long centuries of rebuilding.

A large selection of stories make up the game’s narrative in the form of events, encounters, and quests. The choices you make in these often affect your companions as well as the world around you. Pick your background from trader, mercenary, or explorer; work for factions, pursue rumors and trading opportunities; acquire wealth, gain fame, and discover hidden knowledge.

Engage in turn-based, tactical combat that involves your companions and a large variety of enemies, both humanoid and monstrous. Use a wide range of character skills as well as your own leadership-related abilities to succeed. Positioning and support skills are of paramount importance in these challenging engagements.

Journeys have to be planned and prepared for carefully, lest they end in disaster. Manage your supplies, morale, and your crew’s vigor effectively to survive. Haul cargo and valuables across the wasteland or take it from others. Your crew of workers, fighters, scouts, and slaves have to be supervised closely to optimize their effectiveness.

A wide variety of companions can work for you in versatile caravan roles, such as scoutmaster, guard captain, treasure hunter, or beast handler. Each companion comes with unique combat skills, background stories, and personal quest lines that can upgrade them further when you complete them.

Ally yourself with mighty factions that shape the Riven Realms with their influence on commerce, brutal wars, and their constant intrigue. From prosperous Trading Houses to criminal syndicates and religious organizations, these groups offer powerful rewards and boons to those loyal to their cause. But take heed - befriending a faction will more than likely antagonize some of the others.

I'm still green in this world of harsh adventure, but I'm loving the writing and overall gameplay on Vagrus. This is a game of much reading which I normally shy away from but with Vagrus I always want to read the next paragraph, great world building and story telling!
Ok, im not gonna lie when I first played Vagrus I was thinking "Na, I dont need to do the prologue or anything ill be fine". Boy was I wrong. Over the last 60 hours that I have played I have had to learn the hard way this game is brutal but oh so fun, I have had moments in discord streaming this game to friends who are interested going and doing small quests here there and everywhere and what caught all of us was how cool the scale of it all was. I have found Vagrus a compelling and interesting game because it really dives into the view of you not being a hero but just a random person who in the right place at the right time can cause all the difference. I have enjoyed my time with the game sofar and I am looking forward to trying the DLC in the future. The game to date has kept me very enthralled in the details of the stories and of the factions more so then other games of this style and genre. To all those out there that was a more hardcore merchant managment game with some really cool set pieces and brutal combat I would highly recommend this game to any and all.
The best caravan simulator ever made. Immerse yourself in a rich, fascinating, and truly unique post-apocalyptic fantasy world. Plan your routes carefully, fight for survival, manage your supplies wisely, and calculate every profit and loss. Build your reputation step by step through experience, learning from both your mistakes and your observations. This is the kind of game that never gets old - once it hooks you, it's impossible to put down.
An absolute master class in narration and story telling.
Excellent game, clearly a labor of love
Great Game! I really look forward to dying in my first solo game and starting over with what I learned. Feels like a rogue-lite FTL in a fantasy world with a very detailed universe. Lots of reading. I wish there were more unique events and companions.
Very fun and underrated game. Great game for fans of Darksun, it has a lot of the same vibes and it works well as a sandbox rpg.
I really love the main story and world building!
An absolutely incredible game. If you have the patience for basically an entire novels worth of reading and difficult resource management, this game is a must buy. Post-Apocalyptic fantasy is an underused genre and they use it so well
