Very well done game. Great story, great art, great music, great puzzles. My only complaint is that sometimes they have hidden object scenes where there is only one thing at a time, which becomes tedious and time-consuming.

a nicely made HOG game that is worth playing. you do not need to play the first one for the story as it is a new story. pros. nice story good voice acting some challenging puzzles a bonus story with new locations decent game play time (2 hours 20 mins for the main story and 1 hour 10 for the bonus story) cons. rushed ending to be honest i liked the first one a bit more. but still i recommend playing this game. the developers put more efforts into this one :) i give it 6/10
Where Angels Cry is a routine mobile ported hidden object casual puzzle/adventure game with a historical/mystery theme. Solving various puzzles and hidden object minigames progresses the plot and unravels the mystery. As with most mobile ported HOGs, there's a simplistic interface, locked/unchangeable screen resolution, next to no customisability, and somewhat low resolution graphical assets. All of this puts this game below minimum standards for a contemporary PC game. It is nice that this game features some 3D animated components, but the locked screen resolution is still a killer. Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $10 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer both acknowledges that this is a mobile app (confirming that fact of my review without doubt), but seems upset about me pointing that out to gamers. See, it doesn't matter what order the developer launched this mobile app on which platform, the fact is that it's a mobile app, has all the qualities of a mobile app, was designed for the lowest common denominator of gaming platforms, and thus compares poorly to games designed for PC. This is useful for gamers to know, which is why I include this important information in my reviews whenever I catch a developer dumping mobile trash on Steam. But we must ask why the developer is so upset about being confronted with facts they themselves confirm. Guilty conscience perhaps? Here's a confronting admission... the developer admits to predatory pricing for mobile gamers with bloated, pointless DLC and clickbait marketing... now, I'm an advocate for PC gamers and I've already explained why the developers disgusting and insulting pricing isn't acceptable on PC. But the admission they also try to screw over mobile gamers just cements the position here, you can see who we're dealing with. When confronted with this gamer hostile attitude from mobile app developers like this, it's absolutely clear why nobody should waste their money on their shoddy mobile apps on PC. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this mobile app to anyone.
I do not play point-and-click games very often. But when I play them, I sometimes encounter difficult and - to me - unlogical solutions that a novice player can not find without a walkthrough. That was not the case in this game. So maybe this game is too easy for experienced players of this genre. But I was happy to finally finish such a game without external help. I rarely used the hint system too. So for novices of the genre: a go. For experience players: a maybe. Some remarks: - during some of the hidden object puzzles, I found also very modern looking objects too. In a 13th century settings, this surprised me a little. - overall the graphical style was not always consistent. But I liked the game after all.
Good game, story is decent and it has nice mechanics and puzzles.
