I gaze at my deck, behold, the final card. A blue 1, I look between each of my opponents and think "Pssssh, I'm going to win this, it's on blue". Boy was I foolish. It seems like I was in between the devil and the devils right hand man, the guy on my right, he clearly knew I needed this win. He laughed. He put down a plus 4, I think "clearly he's just putting this down to make me lose." Mistake number 1. I foolishly challenged his card. Oh how wrong I was. Plus 6 cards in my deck. 7 cards is easy to get rid of with jump in, I had no doubt in my mind that I would win. The devil on my left put a plus 2 down, the devil in front of me put a plus 2 down, and the devil to my right did too. Plus 6 cards. 13 cards in my deck. I think, as long as these devils don't change the colour to yellow I'll be fine. Mistake number 2, the colour got switched to yellow. If there's a god out there he blessed everyone else with yellows but me, I am sitting, nervously waiting for them to place a matching number down. Mistake number 3. Believing that I had a chance still. These devils kept on placing numbers and colours I did not have, if I could just place my beloved blue 1 down then I would be able to have a chance, fate had other plans. Go after go I wasn't given a yellow card until I accumulated over 20 cards. I ponder if I should just accept defeat and leave, but mama didn't raise no quitter so I continued on, eventually they changed the colour to red, which I had a plentiful amount of, I place down a red 6, I jumped in. This continued until I was down to my last 2 cards. Everyone was. It was a standoff, and I was determined to win. Final mistake. The devil on my right had to pick up cards from the pile, on and on, until he finally acquired a blue 4. I think this match is going to be over soon, me and my trusty blue 1 still together, I place my blue one down and foolishly forget to call uno. Blast, I'm back at 3 cards. I cry a little inside, how am I supposed to win now? The devil in front of me has called uno, the devil on my left has 2 cards. That's when a tear rolled down my eye, the devil on my left places a plus 4 down, in which the devil in front of me challenged and failed. Am I back into the game? I hope quietly. My remaining cards are a red 8 and a yellow 1. My chances of winning with 2 different colours and numbers are slim, but at least my chances aren't 0. It gets back to my go, thankfully the devil on my right places down a green 8. I place down my red 8 and call uno this time, learning from my past mistakes. I look at the people surrounding me, all but one has a chance of winning, I blinked. The devil on my left placed a yellow 8, I just about jump out of my seat in excitement. And then it happened. The devil in front of me placed a yellow 1 down. I jump in AND SECURE THE VICTORY. Never have I ever sweat that hard at an uno game, never have I ever needed a win so bad. Never will I ever play a game like that again. Never back down, even when winning seems impossible.
