A genuine and wholesome visual novel full of characters that can only be described as angels. Whether it's the tsundere who's too caring for her own good or the airhead with no concept of personal space, every girl is absolutely adorable and destined to give you a severe case of diabetes from sweetness overdose. Pacing is a little inconsistent, it can feel like a whole lot of nothing is going on, or that you skipped over some major developments in a few lines. But when you have cute girls and dogfights hand in hand it's barely a negative. If there's anything to complain about it's that the individual routes don't address every plot thread brought up in the common route, and as a result there are some pretty jarring jumps between each route. Each successive ending will just serve to remind you of all the unresolved issues for the other girls, and the lack of true or harem ending to tie them altogether neatly is quite evident. You notice this most because one of the great mysteries of the novel is the background of one of the girls, but her identity is never explored outside of her route. A secondary complaint is that the dialogue choices are not worth mentioning at all, in fact they were so inconsequential that (assuming the update today was to fix them) despite what choice you picked the dialogue would always loop back on itself after playing the response to your choice and play the response to the final choice. After completing the common route you're just given a prompt to select which heroine you would like to focus on. No need for guides on this one at least! Anyway I'm off to get my degree in aviation history now.
Another interesting visual novel. The story is decent, but the most interesting part is Fairy Fight and WWII aircraft. Not only the storyline and romance with each heroines, but I can learn briefly about unique WWII aircraft. *Kazusa is love <3 *Hikari is live <3
Review in Bahasa:
-𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬- Untuk bagian common routenya menurutku biasa-biasa aja, seperti halnya dengan visual novel slice of life lain. Yup, terlalu banyak dialog. Aku coba skip tiap kali H-scene muncul, dan kurang lebih sekitar 2-5 menit baru selesai. Nilai plusnya.. NO MOSAIC a.k.a Uncesored ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝟳/𝟭𝟬.
Under One Wing sits in an interesting spot among aviation-themed moege. The easiest comparison is that it feels like a blend of If My Heart Had Wings and Aokana, though it doesn’t quite reach the highs of either. While it has a distinct identity and a generally enjoyable cast, it’s ultimately a title I’d only recommend to people specifically looking for more stories in this niche rather than as a must-play.
Solid Fighter Plane Setting and Common Route
At its core, the game’s biggest strength is its cast. Nearly every heroine is likable, with a good balance of humor and personality that keeps the common route engaging throughout its relatively long runtime. The group dynamic works especially well, and the story consistently delivers lighthearted, feel-good moments alongside occasional emotional beats. These elements carry much of the experience, even when the narrative structure begins to show its weaknesses. The setting also deserves credit. The use of real model fighter planes gives Under One Wing a unique flavor that helps distinguish it from other moege. It’s just grounded enough in technical detail to feel different, though this comes with a caveat: the plane-related explanations can occasionally become overly long-winded. While not as overwhelming as more notorious examples in the genre, it may still test the patience of readers who aren’t particularly interested in aviation.
Predictable and Surprisingly Short Heroine Routes
Where the game begins to falter is in its transition from common route to heroine routes. After spending a considerable amount of time building up the cast, each individual route feels surprisingly short and structurally rigid. The progression quickly becomes predictable: the romance starts, a series of slice-of-life and H-scenes follow, then a sudden injection of drama leads into a climactic flight sequence. This formula repeats across all routes, which makes the experience feel less dynamic than it should. This structure also contributes to one of the game’s more noticeable shortcomings: rushed romantic development. While each heroine receives some degree of character focus, the relationships themselves often lack the depth and buildup needed to feel fully satisfying. Ironically, the lengthy H-scenes—while potentially appealing depending on preference—take up space that could have been used to better flesh out emotional progression.
Varied Heroine Execution
Among the heroines, Kazusa stands out as the clear highlight to me. She embodies a more grounded and self-aware take on the tsundere archetype, avoiding many of the more frustrating clichés associated with it. Especially with how she's willing to admit she's at fault related to "accidental pervert' moments. In addition, rather than relying on exaggerated hostility, her characterization leans into subtle insecurity and emotional restraint, which allows for more meaningful development. She comes across as genuinely caring, and her route delivers the most satisfying character arc in the game. What helps is due to an (in)convenient screw-up, she gets the most dialogue with the main character as they share a room in the dorm, making her route's romance feel the most natural in general. If I didn't love Kazusa so much, I'd probably rate this VN quite a bit lower. Hikari is a bit more archetypal, being an endlessly optimistic, slightly airheaded heroine. While she doesn’t break new ground, she remains enjoyable thanks to her goofy humor and her role within the group dynamic. Her presence helps unify the cast, and her influence on others is one of the stronger aspects of her route. However, I personally can't help but see her as a discount version of Aokana’s Asuka, including certain "twists" about how Hikari and MC's relationship. Mimari is a little bit more unique, blending elements of a kuudere with a more approachable personality. Her bluntness provides some of the game’s better comedic moments, and her backstory is arguably the most narratively interesting. That said, her route leans heavily on familiar tropes, particularly the arranged marriage angle, which limits how much her character can grow beyond the initial premise. Nahoko is where the game stumbles the most. Despite being positioned as a central figure within the group, she feels underutilized in the broader narrative, and her route takes her character in a questionable direction. The introduction of a “friends-with-benefits” dynamic undermines both her likability and her development, creating a disconnect between how she is portrayed in the common route versus her own storyline. This is especially unfortunate given that her core conflict—struggling with overwork and a lack of personal direction—has genuine potential that ultimately goes underexplored.
Visual and Audio Nitpicks
Outside of the narrative, there are a few additional elements that may affect individual enjoyment. The art style, while still firmly within anime conventions, has a slightly rough, stencil-like quality that may not appeal to everyone. The game also features minimal player choice, with essentially a single decision point determining the route, which may feel limiting for those who prefer more interactivity. Additionally, some inconsistencies in voice balancing—particularly with Nahoko and Hikari—can be noticeable, though this is a relatively minor issue overall.
Conclusion: Fun Fighter Plane Moege, but Not a High Priority to Read
In the end, Under One Wing succeeds as a light, character-driven experience with a distinct setting, but it falls short of standing out within its genre due to its formulaic structure and uneven route quality. It’s enjoyable, especially if you’re already a fan of aviation-themed visual novels, but it lacks the depth and consistency needed to rank among the best. I’d place it at a 7.5/10, rounding up to an 8.
Under One Wing is a Visual Novel that really reminded me of "If my Heart had Wings", with the same kind of Setting and everything. This one had a few advantages though cause you get a very good Translation and Voice Acting which makes every VN just a lot better. I also really enjoy the Art and if you play with the R18 Patch you really not only get a good amount of Fanservice, but it really improves the Romance Aspect of this Game. They did a great Job with the Personalities and the Relationships with the Girls. I am sure that you will enjoy all the different Girls and that there will be one that you are going to like the most. Back to the Story, you enroll in a School, where everyone flighs with their Planes and have the Luck that the Dorm you stay in only has cute Girls. Together with them you participate in Flight Battles. If you are interested in World War 2 planes, or planes in general this VN will be perfect for you, but even if you arent especially looking for that, but a great Romance Story, then you will also really enjoy this Game. It really just is like "If my Heart had Wings" just that you dont need the Community Patch to make it great. It isnt perfect for sure, but it is really enjoyable and if you have a thing for Romance Stories and cute Girls you will really enjoy it. Overall i would give it a 9/10 since it really does a lot right. Check out my Currator Page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34401214/
No one will believe that I was in bed with all of them. ^^

Good Plot , The Fairy Fights themselves are really nicely detailed and thrilling at times, Also enjoyed reading the titbits of the WW2 planes.. Common route is really nice and adds a nice buildup to the Main routes The characters are lovable, and have unique Art design which i kinda like here.. Scene spacing is what i did not like about this VN, But its a minor complaint... Overall its a great read..
