Mew mew, this game is 10/10. The whole experience is incredibly enthralling and I love all the little creatures and random stuff that pops out. The puzzles are also very fun and not too difficult. I missed some cheevs so I am going to have to play it again, mew mew, that's no problem! Very excited to see the sequel to this!! Please release faster devs! Love this game!
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my full review here: https://youtu.be/U9eP9RQ0bck This is one of those under the radar VR classics that every PCVR veteran should play. It's a cozy, fantastical, magical adventure. The puzzles are casual level difficulty and this game would be perfect for those new to puzzle games or those new to VR. My biggest complaint about the game, is also the highest compliment that I can give it: it's too darn short! Yes, I wanted more of this game. It ended too quickly. The game is only about 90 minutes long (maybe 2 hours if you're taking your time). I would have loved more spells and more scenes in giving a bit more depth to the gameplay and story. However, despite this, it's still a wonderful, immersive, magical experience. The high production values here really bring it all together though: the music, the animations, the VOs, the 3D models & environments are all excellent. The story is well-paced and well-told. You're totally immersed in this magical world and you just don't want to leave. The puzzles are pretty simple and simply toying around you can solve most of them. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. I did not experience any issues at all. This game is nodal teleportation only and there is no smooth or snap turning. Normally, that would be a negative. However, it works great in this game as everything happens 180 degrees in front of you (although you can turn 360 to see the detail in the environment). You can play comfortably seated. Rate 7.5/10.
I bought this game!
weird mechanic but reasonably magical
Enchanting and charming. The puzzles are mild and it's point to point on rails. But the entire experience was thoroughly enjoyable and beautiful to behold. Going to keep my eye on this developer after this game and Form.
Graphics are ok, as you can tell from the screenshots, especially for when the game was made. I think the developers' goal with this game was just to introduce people to looking at stuff in VR and basic interaction with your VR controllers with items in the world. There there is no real locomotion of the kind where you can choose where to go next - there's just a teleport between fixed nodes on a one-way path as you solve "puzzles". I think this game might be suitable for children or just to introduce your non-VR-gaming friends to the novelty of VR. If the game had been billed that way, I would have given it a thumbs up, or more likely, just not bought it. However, I feel like I was led to believe it be more. After all the Steam page description says "Explore a gorgeous and vibrant world". I feel the word "explore" here is deceptive advertising, given that you are on a very rigid fixed linear path of nodes in the world. As far as any immersive or explorative experience, the game is sorely lacking due this. However. what kills it for me are the very boring and simple puzzles. Based on the achievements I got in my 1.2 hours of gameplay, I think I was one or two puzzles from the end, when my controller batteries ran out and I had to quit. After taking off my headset, and thinking about it for a moment, I realized the only reason I would go back into the game would be for the mental satisfaction of completing something I started, and not because I was eager to explore or solve puzzles in this world based on what exploration and puzzle solving I had already experienced. I decided my time would be better spent articulating how I felt and warning other people off by writing a steam review.
A bit dated, but still enjoyable 1.5 hour long Asia-themed VR entertainment with a few light puzzles.
If it was 2016 when I first got my headset, this would be great. VR has just come too far for this. Back in the day, this could have been a great game to throw in the mix when demoing VR to new users, but at least with Index controllers, certain things felt kinda janky. Tracing the paths didn't work well half the time, and I had to use both hands, one after the other, to catch it after it lost tracking. The puzzles are all really simple and basic, which is fine. The environments are huge, which made me feel really disconnected from the game. I'm not sure how I found out about this game, or why it was even on my wishlist, but it was on a huge sale, so I bought it. I remember playing FORM a long time ago, probably 2017 when it came out, and I remember it was great. I'd have to go back and compare it today to really be fair, but from memory, this game isn't as good. Lots of older games, flat and VR, stand the test of time, but I don't think this one does.
Absolut empfehlenswert. Highly Recommended. A very very nice game with nice graphics and a nice story, a bit playful. The puzzles are not difficult. Unfortunately it's a bit short with 140 minutes playing time. I look forward to more of this. Tip: buy on special offer together with FORM, which also comes from the same publisher.
