this game needs meta progression
It's on it's way to be a solid NES Zelda cover game. It is hard with perma death with is exactly what I like. Maybe what till late Febrary or March in hopes of different updates but yeah, I'm digging it.
First of all, keep in mind some other reviews are now outdated, as the devs updated the game to solve most issues (ie: respawning enemies, etc) This game is a little gem, as long as you understand what you're getting into. It's what it says on the tin, a hybrid between tower defense, and hands-on combat. You cannot just set down your turrets and expect to win every time, or at least, not without suffering some material losses, which might ultimately mean the end of your run. Once you understand that, and you start strategizing around it, via setting traps to aid you in attacking personally, or helping your turrets finish off weak monsters, or dealing with threats your turrets cannot, you'll get into the flow of things. That is where the game clicks, and with the many perks (some more useful than others) and secrets there are to be found on all the runs, it manages to be a very fun game. Do keep in mind, the rogue-'lite' aspect of the game simply means you start your next run with more money or perks, but only for the run immediately after your last one. So, you can't just simply gather up resources over many runs to win, you have to improve and learn. Besides the main mode, there's also hard mode, and dream mode, both of which are fun, and are obviously intended for after you beat the main game's three levels. The achievements provide for a fun challenge without being obnoxiously difficult, and the devs updated the game over time to make it better and more enjoyable. One last comment, and a tip for any would-be players: Money, keys and glass are your best bet for winning. Other than inmense firepower and hoarding, of course :)
