As a 48 year old guy who played Zelda in the 80's this game somehow revived the magic I had as a child. Some thing get you annoyed because are hard to find, but this game "new age" atmosphere in contrast with darker moments is so well balanced... I had some goosebumps in some parts of it. The graphics are great and I just love isometric ones since I played Zaxxon on Colecovision. Mechanics are comfortable to deal with but sometimes left botton interferes in a decesive moment. I hope they release a TUNIC 2. If you havent played it, give it a try, you won´t regret it.
I feel mixed about Tunic, is it cute? Yes. Does it feature some of the worst gamedesign I've seen in a game ever? Also yes. My biggest problems with the game come from the last two bosses. One of them shows how this game does not work as a "soulslike" and the other shows one of the most abyssmal forms of padding I've seen in any game. The Scavenger boss just doesn't work, almost everything with the fight has a major problem. His attacks are poorly telegraphed with both sound and movement, the environment and attacks can blend in quite easily making it hard to distinguish what's happening, the camera is in a weird top down angle whilst also spinning around constantly trying to keep the boss in the center of the screen, the arena has some barrels in it blocking the player which only makes the fight even more awkward than it already was and so much more. And then there's the final boss, after gathering the three thingamajigs the game removes all of your upgrades such as health, damage, stamina and more. This wouldn't be too bad the player's stats are restored once you complete the final story objective before the final boss but oh no. I don't think I've ever seen a more aggregious form of padding in a game, you don't get your stats back, and the only way to get them back is to find 5 statues located throughout the world, the only thing is there's no way to know where they are. So either you fight the boss with two phases that can kill you in two attacks whilst dealing a lot less damage then you should or you run aimlessly around the map for a few hours trying to regain your stats. This actually just made me put the game down, It really felt as if the game just gave me the finger. I'm not having fun doing this, I know I could've just looked up the locations but at that point why should I even bother. I really didn't expect to leave a negative review but I seriously just wouldn't recommend this, if you're interested in Tunic then I suggest getting it at a very steep sale. I really wanted to like it, but if you want to make a difficult game then you better make sure it can handle the preassure of scrutiny, and Tunic unfortunately crumbles completely.

This game is incredible, if you like zelda like games this is a very fun play, if you like puzzle games it is als a very fun play. If you like both? My man, buy this. The puzzles feel amazing to solve being actually pretty doable and the combat and exploration is also pretty damn good. Opening that damn mountain door was a hell of a good puzzle man Closing remarks and being very spoiler-free, if you ever think you know everything this game has in store, no you don't.
peak
