I have been a fan of the Tron franchise ever since I first saw the original movie as a child, but that love grew even further with the release of Tron: Legacy. I bought Tron: Identity in order to experience more of this world in my spare time and, with the release of Tron: Ares just two months ago, I had to revisit the Grid once again. Tron: Identity isn't much of a game, it is actually a visual novel with little to no gameplay. The gameplay that you do have, mainly the defragging minigames, is fun and engaging; albeit quite easy. By the end of my first playthrough, I have to say that I even grew tired of the minigame, but I was very much invested into the story and how it'll pan out. Your choices actually do make a change and none of the characters are actually safe. I was surprised by the end of my first playthrough when only two out of the six characters actually made it through (not counting Query). So, on my second playthrough, I wanted to really save as many as possible. This makes the game fun and engaging, but the replay value is hardly there other than for that. I think that Tron: Identity is a phenomenal experience for a fan of the Tron franchise, but it's an experience which lasts just as long as any of them movies, a good, standalone story which reminds you just how much potential the Grid always held. When it's done, you might remember it fondly and return to it in a few years, when you forget about it, but it burrows its way into the Tron canon quite successfully.
Would i recommend this game to a Tron fan? As much as i want to, NO. SO definitely wouldn't recommend for people who aren't Tron fans. The 'game' part of it is far too repetitive, put that with dialogue and tutorials that you can't skip you have a recipe for a game that gets completely stale at the end of your first play through - which would be fine if all the story lines and character interaction were good and well thought out - which I am sorry , they just aren't. The annoying thing is the achievement actively encourage multiple play-throughs. The art style, music and sounds are cool but apart from that everything else is disappointing.
Unfortunately, as a Tron fan, I cannot recommend this game. For the price, there are plenty of better games you could get, with much more replay value. This is a visual novel style game, and yet, I had some weird lag problems. I have a decent PC, and haven't had issues with other games, so this must be related to the game itself. As a fan of games with a strong narrative focus, I felt very frustrated with how the game handled its story. The core of the story is fine, I suppose, but because of the several branching choices, there were a few times toward the end of the game where characters knew information that I did not tell them, and there was no way they could have known. This really frustrated me, as it lessened the impact of my choices. If you're also a huge fan of Tron: Legacy or Tron: Uprising, you will be disappointed to find out that this story does not take place in the same Grid as those stories. I understand why the creative team made this decision, but it makes me care less about the world of the story, especially because the player gets to see so little of it. I don't really understand who this game is for, and how it has such a high score. It does not succeed as a detective game, as a naritive game, or as a Tron game. I'd rate this game 2/5.
Cute little graphical novell in the TRON Universe with a few and very easy Disc Puzzles. Took me around 2,5 hours for the main run incl. reading texts and being inside the story. Finishing the other achievements took around 20 minutes in a few turbo pushes. Story is quite okay. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad either. The scenes are nice designed inside the tron universe, but could have more depth into it, like unblurred background city. *edit - And the soundtrack could be a bit more bassheavy, like in Tron Legacy by Daft Punk. The soundtrack was quite weak* In my opinion not worth the 15 bucks, but if you grab it in a sale for 5-6 bucks it's a good catch.
A fun little visual novel game in the TRON world. It's a bit short, but it's a pretty good ride if you're a sicko for this series like i am
For what it is, it's an interesting visual novel that certainly follows the mythos of Tron quite well, and despite the game ultimately feeling irrelevant in the overall franchise's narrative, the story contained within is decently interesting and the art is gorgeous, matching the aesthetics of Tron Legacy to a tee. The puzzles are simple and boring, but don't drag the game down too much. Def worth the play you're big into Tron but otherwise, there are better options out there.
IP粉丝向游戏,流程极短故事就讲了个开头
As someone who only just recently watched the first two Tron films and enjoyed them, I was excited to see what Mike Bithell had to show when given the reigns in the universe, and it's pretty good for what it is. I'm not a huge visual novel fan, but Mike's writing is top notch and I'm excited to see what he can do in this space going forward. Animations are nice, the hacking mini game is fine if not very straight forward, and choices do seem branching. It's just a little short but like I said it's a nice taste of what might come next.
Nice visual detective novel with a classic whodunnit story. The puzzles are okay and do the job to add a little bit extra gameplay. I always enjoy more Tron. 8/10
