Game is great, scratches something deep inside my dormant brain. Deserves WAY for attention than it's getting. Solo dev who included an offline mode and custom server api on release. Love this game.
Great game apparently made by just a single dev, you can tell it's a passion project. Pretty decent community but sadly for now I have to give it a negative I wish there was a neutral option. I do recommend the game in it's current form but sadly I'm leaving a negative till something is done with the auction house. Pages and pages of single listings of items people will probably never want anyway. It's literally impossible to just look through the auction house without clicking a bunch of category filters. I know the dev more than likely won't see this as they don't seem to come to Steam at all but I don't have discord installed and haven't used it in years and not going to start. Anyway when this game starts feeling like a job just because of the auction house searching then something is wrong. The game badly needs a way to filter out certain traders by name or something. Once there's something in the game that makes the auction house a better experience then I'll change the review to a positive, maybe this will get the devs attention not everyone wants to be on discord all the time. Your game is one Steam maybe come here once a week and look at the platform that your game is actually on. I have suggestions for the game in the discussions I think would make it better and once again not going on discord.
I'm honestly a big fan of this game but it's unfortunately dead at this point. So the question now is "is single player worth it?" anddd not really? This was probably always going to be the end state, small indie mmos like this don't last for long but when they're active they're enjoyable! I just wish it could've been around for longer.
I’ve not cleared the first dungeon yet, but I’m enjoying this game a ton. I’ve played approximately 2 hours of vanilla WoW so the comparisons are lost on me. I’m a RuneScape oldhead. Trolddom aggressively rewards exploration. The amount of little nooks and crannies to explore make the world feel so much more alive than you would expect from something of its scale. As an example: I popped into a little forest pathway I spotted in a copse of trees. It led to a clearing with an altar to an underworld god. Why is it there? How long has it been there? Is someone sneaking away from town to worship an underworld god in a secluded glade? Who knows. Your guess is as good as mine. There is no quest (that I’ve found yet). There is no reason to be there, unless you want to up your devotion to that god. Nobody told me it was there. I stumbled upon it. This will happen a lot if you just walk around. You’ll find random quest-starting items. You’ll find random altars. Random people. You will find yourself surprised that a kinda grungy 2D pixel world feels more alive and mysterious than most things you’ve played in the last decade. Feels kinda Arthurian. Monmouth, not the prancy French stuff. This game benefits immensely from being new, small, and obscure. No one has figured out optimal quest order. There is no meta build for condemnation priest. No one has figured out how to manipulate game ticks to speed up herbalism training (if you don’t play RuneScape don’t look this up, it will make you sad). Hopefully, this game will continue to grow until those things inevitably happen. It’s a natural consequence of playerbase growth. But in the mean time, you have no choice but to experience the game. The experience is not “new.” It’s not novel. It’s an action bar + tab targeting MMO. If you’re reading this, you’ve already played at least a half dozen of those. Nothing I’ve experience yet is truly groundbreaking. But it FEELS FRESH. Just try it. Try the demo. Or buy the game because it’s $10 and this single developer has done something really cool. Buy it because it’s $10 now and maybe it’ll be the “””WoW Killer””” in a few years. Do whatever mental gymnastics you need to. But try this game.
I really enjoyed the beginning of the game. I got about as far as the goblin quests before I had to stop and refund. The character movement occurs tile-by-tile and was a little jarring to me. I never get motion sick from video games, not even VR, but I'm just not able to handle movement in this game. Something to consider if you suffer from motion sickness. Plays like WoW classic, like some other reviews mentioned. Go kill these things, pick up this item, and I will give you this choice of gear. Casting spells and abilities, looting, and even item drops are very reminiscent of WoW. The talent trees are small but seem to offer more substantial options compared to incremental 0.2/0.4/0.6/0.8/1 options you would see in WoW. If movement was ever smoothed out, I would come back in a heartbeat. I guess I expected something more similar to how movement appears in RPG MO. This game was scratching an old-school MMO itch that I haven't been able to reach for quite some time now.
A lot like classic WoW. It is such a great game. A masterpiece hidden in the over saturated MMORPG genre. Highly recommend checking it out, even if the art style isn't something you are into. If you like classic WoW you will probably enjoy this game.
MMO oldschool que ojalá más gente conociese.
If I had to sum up this game in two words it would have to be: "Deceptively Fun". Do not let the low-poly fool you where this game lacks in the graphic department it makes up for with its multitude of systems. From old school divinity worship with associated buffs to collecting RNG recipes, equipment, mats and if that doesn't wet your appetite all archetypes have three subcategory talent trees that you can put points into at your own leisure and an NPC that allows you to reset at any point if you don't like what you've done setting you up with ease of access to test build theory along with a world of dungeons/bosses to test them on. You cannot level all professions on one character which gives you an incentive to level alts other than just checking out builds, or mules for space. Leveling is just the right amount of grind "for an old school experience" if you are one of those people that thinks you need to be maxed in two days this isn't the game for you.
I don't leave a lot of steam reviews but I am really enjoying this game. A mix of old school d2 exploration with a bit of WoW mixed in, would be great to see more players in the world to run dungeons. Worth the 10 bucks for sure.
A wonderful 2D recreation of the Vanilla WoW experience. Has most features of Vanilla WoW with content being added consistently. The game already has quests, talents, standard professions, dungeons, heroics, an auction house, guilds, mounts, a faith system, end game emblem and reputation vendors, a Gurubashi Arena equivalent, and so much more. It's an absolutely incredible value for the price. if you're on the fence, I highly recommend giving it a go.
