For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is unfinished. If you love the series, you can pick it up on sale. Otherwise, Trine 4 or 5 are much better value.

[/olist]
...Maaaan, this makes me sad to have to write down, because there's genuinely a lot of things to love about this game. But I can't really recommend it much as it is. Okay so. Trine 3. Third part of the Trine series, those really fun co-op puzzle platformers, the one that sold a trinillion copies with the second game and made the studio stupid amounts of money. This game was meant to be the series' jump to 3D! It was always 2.5D (i.e. 3D graphics, but played in an entirely 2D perspective, as a classic platformer) And I'm not even here to go "Trine has had a rough transition to 3D", because unlike a lot of other series, they actually nailed the gameplay pretty well for their first time, I think! So, let's get into the gameplay. A lot of your moves are simplified or streamlined in some way, to make it playable in 3D, which is a bit of a bummer but it's also understandable. They also try to do more with what they still have here. For example, you don't draw things with Amadeus to spawn them in, you just press Y/Triangle to spawn a box on top of you and carry it above you. This means you don't have thin platforms you can spawn in anymore. You also can't rotate items, just move them in a 2D axis with the right stick. ON THE OTHER HAND, this also comes with extra uses. You can use X/Square to fling your held item forward, and then use B/Circle to stomp it down on the ground with a ton of force, which both lets you use him in combat more reliably (compared to having to manually fling boxes and try to time them to naturally land on top of a guy's head), AND has many uses for physics puzzles, since you're applying downward force there. Pontius gets his shield hover as a default move (just holding the jump button), and he gets a stomp move of his own, but also loses the hammer in the process. It's a trade of sorts. Zoya loses her different arrow types with different properties (so no ice arrows to freeze water, and no gravity arrows for crazy puzzling potential), but also gains a lot more uses for her grappling hook, since she can now tie her ropes to many items and pull them around, or even tie them around other items to keep something in place. This gets a TON of use throughout. All your moves are available from the start. That is to say, there is no levelling or skill tree. Collecting "trine-angles" (this game's replacement for XP flasks) simply allows you to unlock other levels. You need X amount of those to be able to continue, so you can't just bumrush the game without grabbing anything. Also, before I finish with the gameplay/mechanics... Every character gets a universally-usable wall jump, which is also used here and there for platforming and can also help you in a pinch if you screw up a jump in some places. Ledge-grabbing is also improved, in that instead of a kind-of-janky animation that sometimes happens when you barely miss a jump, you actually have a deliberate state for holding onto a ledge, and can even shimmy along it and climb up whenever you want. So, I want to make this clear. The gameplay has had some sacrifices to adapt it to 3D, but I do genuinely like what they give the player in exchange for those sacrifices. The gameplay actually works pretty well! The graphics are also the most gorgeous the series had been up to this point. The environments are in full 3D now, and they have a stupid amount of detail and props everywhere (many of them interactable/breakable), and there's a ton of genuinely breathtaking setpieces in terms of visuals, like that one they made sure to put in the trailer where you're grappling along floating rocks as Zoya with the sun shining down on you. So, I'd like to repeat myself, this is a game that plays pretty good and looks REALLY really good. So, what happened? What's wrong with it? What's wrong with it is that it's an unfinished game. You can finish it in 3-4 hours if you know what you're doing, and maybe a couple hours more to get the rest of the trine-angles you missed if you're going for 100%. The only reason I have 10 hours is because I did two playthroughs co-oping with different people, so 5-ish hours each on average after 100%ing the second playthrough. You know what happened? They ran out of money. This game, with its big 3D environments, and its super pretty eye-candy visuals, now having to be adapted to full 3D, was so expensive that they burned every last penny they made from Trine 2 on it, and they were still only 1/3 of the way done with it. You fight the first boss, and then it just ENDS. On a cliffhanger. Story completely unresolved. And the story was... fine. It had some interesting ideas, trying to go into more detail about how the Trine itself and the other artifacts work (even if you could say the execution's a bit odd), but then it just stops abruptly. You get ONE more bonus stage, and... it's a bunch of reused assets from the
book
level, all amounting to a dated Portal reference as if to remind you this is a 2015 game. Hell, even FOR 2015 that joke was outdated. I don't think I even need to say what joke it is, you probably know. This game was also a failure both critically and commercially, since people didn't exactly appreciate being sold an unfinished game, and also didn't appreciate all the sacrifices that were made to bring it to 3D in the first place. I do personally like the different take on the gameplay thanks to the new things it adds, but I perfectly understand why others didn't at the time. So, ultimately, this game went out with a wet fart, and never even got any DLC to actually finish the story, because it almost killed Frozenbyte. They had to take a long-ass break from the franchise after this and make other games instead. And by the time Trine 4 came along, they just ignored this game outright to be on the safe side, everything just gets resolved offscreen. So ultimately, this game can be ignored entirely. Which is a shame, again, I do like the things it was going for! But then it's over before it even starts and it was such a gigantic flop that it ended up having zero relevance towards the franchise in the grand scheme of things. So, TLDR: This is a simplified/streamlined 3D take on Trine, with some new mechanics of its own, that is genuinely pretty fun to play, but then it ends 3-4 hours in because it's an unfinished game that never got properly finished. It could be worth playing on sale if you want to see the mechanics and gameplay they were trying here, but ultimately it's really not worth it, as sad as it makes me to say that.

Edit on starting the 4th game... No, Do NOT buy this! Do not play this! It ends on a cliff hanger and the fourth game just pretends this doesn't exist at all. I'm actually angry. It's been 10 years and they've released two other games with DLCs after this, and simply could NOT complete this game? This is an insult and I feel like my money was taken. Original review below of an optimistic person expecting 4 to continue... Forget the art, forget the controls - This is a game that's only 1/3rd finished. It literally has no ending, it ends saying "Let's start the story. We finally got into the story and it just ends... it's insulting, like if Wheel of Time ended after just introducing the characters in the first book and that was it, or Tolkien got halfway through Fellowship's first book and just ended and the next book pretended that the first one didn't exist and all and just continued from the Hobbit with Bilbo. --------------------- Original: Just finished, wanted to review. Very enjoyable game. I played with a friend who was on GOG, we both got it on sale. Full price, I can see issue, but on sale this is definitely a good game (especially with the three pack). I like the new art style and while the planes DO make things harder, it introduces nice little areas to find and search. Caves to find, things to smash, walls to double jump on - mobility was fun. While Zoya took a hit on mobility, and I miss my platforms for Amadeus, it was still good. This clearly was a new attempt for them and the player can see the vast progress from the first one. The music is great, the art is still phenomenal .. I'd LOVE to have some of these scenes for wall paper engine backgrounds. Looking though, you can see the progress. Downsides of course exist: It's short, very short, and I don't like cliff hangers. Zoya got some nerfs, Amadeus got some nerfs, and I misse the special skills (fire arrow, bubble, magnetic boxes), but the skills we did have were good. It was simply harder to cheese things, and that was okay. In exchange the controls were MUCH tighter and less floaty, it was a lot harder to miss jumps. Another 'downside' is that I wanted more control of the camera, but that was mostly to zoom in. The camera work felt very cinematic, we had amazing shots of running down halls, the camera moved gracefully in and out to where I would want it, and it wasn't 'stuck' so it was still acceptable. All in all, it's a VERY minor downside. For $5-$10, this game is worth it for sure. For $22 (or $60 for the three pack), I'd probably skip it but I'm glad for the sale and I'm glad we got it. This was a very enjoyable game with some very good moments, and as always the voice acting, art, music, and overall feel is very nice.
Save your sanity and go play Trine 4 and 5. Avoid this game like a plague. Some pseudo weird to make everything in 3D but puzzles solutions stays in some way majority in 2D view. It’s a good thing developers understood what a mistake they made and will never repeat this again.
despite the negative reviews, the game is quite fun actually. the only problem i can think of is this game being shorter compared to the other trines. overall, i enjoyed it frrr and it was worth playing.
