This is the F-Zero Spiritual Successor Isometric Racer that I never knew I wasnted, until I saw it. Steam Deck works great out the box. Visually appeasing graphics & art style. Great soundtrack. Fun gameplay. Controls feel responsive, and tight. Easy to learn, and not clunky. Local-Coop, and full controller support is great. Mouse Only mode is a great addition. Alot of unlocks with replay value at a good price.
Love the pre-rendered backgrounds and the music is amazing. Isometric controls take time to get used to though.
Galaxy Drift is an arcade-style racing game developed and published by JustusGames that embraces a retro design philosophy while placing the action in a colorful science-fiction setting. Instead of traditional road circuits or realistic vehicles, the game invites players into an interstellar racing league where futuristic ships compete across tracks that twist and loop through space. With its isometric perspective, bright visual style, and emphasis on speed and drifting mechanics, the game clearly draws inspiration from classic arcade racers while attempting to deliver a modern interpretation of the genre. The premise revolves around a galactic racing championship where skilled pilots from across the universe compete to become the ultimate racing champion. Players take control of high-speed vehicles that resemble futuristic spacecraft rather than conventional cars. Although the story remains minimal and largely serves as a backdrop for the gameplay, the idea of racing across the cosmos provides a thematic identity that sets the game apart from standard racing titles. The tracks are framed as part of a competitive league, where racers battle through multiple cups in an attempt to claim the title of the fastest pilot in the galaxy. Gameplay focuses on high-speed races viewed from an isometric perspective. The angled camera places the player above the track, allowing them to see upcoming turns and obstacles while maintaining the nostalgic feeling of classic top-down racers. Because of this perspective, racing in Galaxy Drift requires anticipation and precision rather than simple reaction time. Players must learn to read the track layout and prepare for sharp corners before they appear directly in front of them. The vehicles accelerate quickly, and maintaining control at high speeds becomes one of the most important skills in the game. Drifting mechanics play a central role in how races are won. Instead of slowing down dramatically before every turn, players are encouraged to slide their vehicles through corners while maintaining momentum. Mastering this technique allows racers to maintain speed while navigating complex track layouts. Successfully drifting through tight corners not only looks visually satisfying but also becomes essential for achieving competitive lap times. Players who fail to manage their speed or drift correctly will often find themselves colliding with track barriers or losing valuable seconds during races. The main structure of the game is organized around a championship league consisting of several cups. Each cup contains multiple tracks that must be completed in sequence, with players earning points based on their finishing positions. As players advance through the league, the difficulty gradually increases, introducing faster opponents and more complex track designs. While the number of tracks is relatively modest compared to larger racing titles, the increasing challenge encourages players to refine their skills and learn the nuances of the vehicle handling system. In addition to the main league progression, the game offers alternative modes that expand the racing experience slightly. Single race mode allows players to jump into individual tracks without committing to an entire championship run. Time trial challenges encourage players to focus purely on speed, attempting to complete laps as quickly as possible while shaving seconds off their best performances. Leaderboards add a competitive element by allowing players to compare their times with others, which can motivate repeated attempts to achieve better results. Control customization is another feature designed to accommodate different player preferences. Galaxy Drift offers multiple control schemes, allowing players to choose between traditional orientation-based steering or more modern directional steering methods. This flexibility helps players adapt the controls to their play style, especially those who may not be familiar with the handling of isometric racing games. The game can be played using keyboard controls, gamepads, or even mouse steering, giving players several ways to approach the racing mechanics. The visual style of Galaxy Drift is strongly influenced by retro arcade aesthetics. The tracks are filled with bright colors and futuristic elements such as distant planets, cosmic backgrounds, and glowing track edges. While the graphics are not highly detailed, the stylized presentation helps reinforce the nostalgic feel that the game aims to capture. The isometric perspective also allows players to see large sections of the track at once, which adds to the sense of speed as vehicles race across the screen. Sound design supports the fast-paced gameplay with energetic music that plays during races. The soundtrack features electronic and synth-driven tracks that complement the science-fiction theme while maintaining the adrenaline of high-speed competition. Sound effects such as engine noises, collisions, and drifting feedback help reinforce the action and provide players with immediate responses to their driving inputs. One of the enjoyable aspects of Galaxy Drift is its inclusion of local multiplayer. Two players can compete in split-screen races, which brings back the classic couch-competitive experience that defined many older racing games. Racing against a friend on the same screen adds an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability, making the game more engaging during multiplayer sessions. Despite its strengths, the game does have several limitations that stem from its small scale. The total number of tracks and cups is relatively limited, which means that experienced players may complete the available content fairly quickly. Once the championship races have been finished, the main incentive for continued play lies in improving lap times or competing with friends. Another potential issue is the steep learning curve associated with the game’s handling system. Because the vehicles move at extremely high speeds and the isometric perspective requires anticipation, newcomers may initially find the controls challenging to master. However, players who invest time in understanding the drifting mechanics often discover a satisfying rhythm to the gameplay. Overall, Galaxy Drift is a focused arcade racing experience that pays tribute to the fast-paced racers of earlier gaming generations. Its combination of retro presentation, futuristic theme, and drifting-based gameplay creates a unique racing challenge that rewards practice and precision. Although the limited content and simple structure prevent it from competing with larger racing franchises, the game still offers a fun and nostalgic ride for players who appreciate classic arcade racing design. Rating: 6/10
Beauifull sprite work although I wish the controls or the animation of the turning was smoother. Isometric Wipeout sans weapons. 7/10.
