Another game abandoned by these worthless devs. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GIVE THESE GUYS A SINGLE CENT. Time and time again they'll release a game, put in a bunch of in-game purchases, and if it doesn't strike big then they'll abandon it entirely in favor of an entirely new game. Hell, their latest game: Deadzone Rogue isn't even a year old and they're already dropping that to push out a sequel. Do not trust anything from these cash grabbing scumbags, spend your money elsewhere.
Within the first week of this games release the hackers were so prevalent that any REAL competition went right out the window and the general consensus (from the hackers) was "Get over it, it's a tribes game". Game was dead on arrival.
Abandoned. I miss Tribes.
This title was my first exposure to the TRIBES series, having never heard of it before. Signed up for a playtest, and it was so much fun... genuinely had a blast. However, there were a lot of concerns being voiced way too soon, so after the playtest, I decided to not purchase the game just yet, hoping to see if the sentiment would change down the line. Sadly, it got so much worse than I thought it would. I eventually forgot about the game and remembered about it a year later. Feeling the need to scratch the itch for the movement I enjoyed so much, I purchased the game just to see if the gameplay felt the same as it did the first time I tried it... nope, the one thing that felt so good was gone. Refunded it immediately. What a shame.
Tribes Finally Returned, Just Not for Long
The skiing, the jetpacks, the chaotic mid-air duels, all of it came together in a way that felt surprisingly sharp for an early access build. You could see the potential lining up. It wasn’t perfect, but the core gameplay had that old spark that fans had been missing for years. It felt like the classic series was starting to wake up. Unfortunately, after just a few months the game was abandoned while development shifted to "Ultra Strikers", which was also quickly abandoned. So you’re left with this weird mix of appreciation and disappointment. Tribes 3 was fun while it lasted, and it showed what a real revival could look like. Instead, it got frozen in place rather than growing into the game it could have been.
DONT BUY. DEVELOPER IS NO LONGER SUPPORTING THIS GAME. if you still want to play, use the discord link on the home screen of the of the game to join the Tribes 3 Discord then navigate to the #community-servers section and add to the Tribes 3 Competitive Discord. This will ensure you are in both communities and able to meet people to play with.
It's a disgrace to the gaming community that Prophecy (former Hi-Rez) holds the rights to this franchise. This is a down right scam, and they've done it over and over. Never give this company of filth a single penny.
Look, I like Tribes-but I'm gonna come out and say this is a HEAVILY dumbed down version-no inventory stations, one deployable-that being a turret and vehicles aren't around either. The movement's solid though as is the shooting. Look-you want a movement shooter-you certainly could do worse-you want a solid Tribes experience? Go play the first two games...or Vengeance if you're desperate. I'm still going to recommend it-if in just some vain hope that a sudden influx of players might convince the devs to pick it back up but I'm not holding my breath.
Game is pretty fun, got review bombed due to shady business tactics used by the company and old farts being old farts and shutting down anything new (those dang-nabit 'puter phones gna take ovar d world!!). So the game by itself is fine, only problem is that no one plays it and all of their lobbies are filled with bots.
