Steam really needs a neutral to recommendations. I can't either recommended and not recommend it. I have friends who enjoy such cozy games, and some of them would enjoy it and the rest would drop it after the first few in game days. But i will "don't recomened it" because else the comment will be lost in the possitive ones who offer no info, just "good and fun game", and I know people always check the Negative Ones for info. SO My gameplay: I played the Demo first, I liked it and I bought it on a discount, around 5.30 (?) euros. I personally enjoyed it, but i got bored by the end of it. I am an achievement junkie, so I had to grind to get them all. Thus, my time contains the time I spent to get all the achievements (which took lots of hours as some speicific ones had to really be grinded!!). I finished all the game i believe. I have gotten all the achievments (in/out of game), maxed all the NPCs, bought everything upgradable, tools etc, I am at 14 of merge shell, reached day 138, I have over 20k money and 214 fair tickets. All of that in 2 weeks and around 24h. Let me also add that the price is pretty good for the gametime it offers. It's a good 16-20hour game. But i got it discounted so you can ignore my opinion on that. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Recommened: I Recommend the game to very casual gamers who are not in a hurry, they have very limited time and they don't play anything else after work and don't care about many things the game may go wrong with. It is a very cute game that helps you really relax and enjoy it and doesn't force you to follow its mechanics if you don't feel like it. It's a good game to waste your time away. And the possitives of the game can attract such gamers: Possitive Things: - beatiful art and NPCs (gorgeous actually - but no romance which i dont mind at all) - It has some story behind it and you can see the relationship between the NPCs via their dialogs - nice and a good variety of mechanics with the tools it has and the fair games - nice to pass your time and unwind, especially when you are not in a hurry. Like if you just like to pass your time doing nothing but picking and selling. - you open maps while you progress (which gives you something to look for) - you open new tools as you progress to make gameplay more intersting. Not having them all doesn't hinder your gameplay either. - it makes you work for your money (which i loved) - it has some clear goals for the game = = = = = = = = = = = = = = No Recommented: - I can't recomment it because the end game is lacking or even missing. The game has an obvious end goal, but it doesn't change anything in gameplay when you reach it. - It is really repeativive, like other games obviously. But based in the possitives i mentioned above, and the way It is set up to move around between different buildings in the island to do your thing and to talk with NPCs in the island's square to gain their favor, it feels like they want to make the game more alive, but ends in a repeative gameplay cycle. I feel like this game wants to offer more than just repeat the same things again and again. Thus I still can't recomment it. -This game is not for players who like cozy games but like to also do achievements and be a little challenged by the game. They will get bored really fast and will continue to play because they want to get all the achievments. Negative/Bothersome Things The following section also highlights the problems I found in the game that bothered me and I know others will find bothersome as well, thus make the whole experience a little lacking. 1. Unfortunately the whole gameplay becomes too repeatitive after some time. You just dig items, clean them, recycle them or sell them, maybe talk to the NPCs, play some fair games and repeat. Again and again and again and again. For days on end. I know this is the whole point (for now) but after playing the game all the time because you like it so much, you get burned out and move on to another game. I can see many players dropping the game after some time and not coming back. 2. Nothing changes during the pass of the days. No event happens to maybe spice up the day. I reached day 138 to get the sewing Achievement. Nothing. 3. You maximizing the hearts of the NPCs doesn't change anything essential in the game. 4. Maximizing the NPCs is not challenging at all. 5. Some of the tools you unlock or the upgrades you do, don't add to the gameplay. =A. Like the metal detector. At the beginning it wasn't doing anything. They patched it to undig metal items. But it doesn't find all the metal items either, as many of the items it doesn't find it can be recycled in the metal section XD =B. The shovel, which is the most importnat tool, doesn't change its speed of digging that much. I maxed it and I still felt like it was either too slow or nothing had changed. It was only going faster for a very specific item. The rest of the items needed the exact same shoves. 6. Some tools and mechanics can be better: =A. The price checker used to work nice, like it had 3 options and then they patched it to have 2. I though that it would actually show you the price because of the description, but it just shows you some faces. XD. You could also drag items on it to check the "price" but they also patched it to not work like that. Which is a drag for me. It was more practical to drag the item on the tool and then decide when you store it. =B. You have the option to "negotiate" for the item prices when you sell them, but you just ask for more money and they either give it to you or leave. Kind of dissapointing tbh. =C. The merge game it leads nowhere. Like no goal at all there. Or any achievement to indicate there is a goal. =D. One of the maps accomodations was never accessible (hotel). Even after the end of the game. It was just there. And even if it was and i missed it somehow, it didn't have any impact to the gameplay or the achievements. 7. The game if it plans on having an achievment for every move in it, they better have all the moves in achievments XD They could add some more creative ones. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Results: Buy it on your own disgretion and based on how you want to spend you time. It's a good game that is still new and i believe that the devs will be able to find more ideas to integrade into it as time passes.
Treasure Beach looks cute, but it’s incredibly shallow. There’s no real challenge or meaningful progression, and it becomes repetitive fast, so grinding to unlock new islands isn’t fun—it feels like a waste of time.
While I love the art style and the concept, I do have to agree with many of the other negative reviews. It is quite repetative and shallow. Interacting with the townspeople doesn't add much to the game. You get two options of dialogue and it is very clear what the 'correct' option is and even if you don't pick the right option the game doesn't give you any consequences for pissing someone off. The only consequence is not gaining a friendship heart. The gameplay just kind of feels like the free play after finishing the main story in a game, except the free play is the entire game. For me I would have liked to maybe seen some missions or reasons to repair the cheaper items, like a local thrift store placing an order for clothes (which seem to be items with not a lot of value) Overall this is a game that is fine to play while on a call with a friend, listening to a podcast or a video essay. Maybe with some tweaks this could be a great game as I do really like the concept, the execution just fell a little bit short.
Bought it in a sale bundle, not really worth the money. Very early 2000's flash game energy.
I love this sort of cute, repetitive, mind-numbing sort of incremental game, but even for me, this was disappointing. This game feels heartless, like no actual humans were involved in making it. It is so repetitive and shallow and unchanging. I genuinely think they made this game by asking AI to create a game based on their other games and then had AI create it. I liked the other games from this studio and didn't mind that the drawn objects were reused between games because the last games felt like their own cute, satisfying experiences. In this game, the characters are shallow, obnoxious, and I wouldn't be surprised if their dialogue was written by AI. There is no point of interacting with them and they serve no role in completing achievements. There is no reason for them to exist. The gameplay does not change one bit as you level up. The amount of new items is slim and the amount of items reused (in a game that is literally about the items themselves) is too many. The minigames usually require only one click, that's how nothing they are. That said, it did apparently take 7 hours of gameplay for me to come to this conclusion. So maybe you should buy this game on sale for like $1 so you can have 7 hours of a-tiny-bit-satisfying-but-beyond-frustrating game and see why I am so sad.
It's a fun game but it becomes repetitive after a while. I unlocked the 3rd location and worked there but it's becoming boring. I think the grind for unlocking the next location is simply too long. I never know when to close the game because the "Save and Quit" doesn't work properly and seems to kind of send me back 1 day earlier but not really at the same time. Some things are saved, others aren't. It's a bit annoying but not game breaking. I had fun with the demo but I didn't expect it would be this repetitive, at least for me. And I'm someone who grew up on JRPG and grinded for hours on end in MH and Souls games.
I love this game! It's a perfect low stakes, brain off but still engaging and cozy game. As other comments have said, it's a little grindy and repetitive, but I like that about it! The gameplay loop of discovering new items and unlocking new ways to restore keeps me engaged and wanting "just one more day". I also love learning which items are worth the most money and worth my time to restore versus recycle. I like the upgrade system, it feels balanced. It's not too difficult to upgrade but it does take some planning of saving for certain high priced items. This is definitely a simple game but to me that adds to the charm. And there are many little aspects of this game that are very satisfying like the merge game and the beach fair tickets. I've seen some comments that say unlocking new tools for restoration doesn't increase the price of the restored item. That is not my experience! Especially the jewelry machine and oyster thing really increase the price. Even if some of the restoration tools only increase it a little, I really enjoy all the mini games and it's more fun to have a variety of ways to restore items so it's still worth it to me.
This game is another hit from Rogue Duck! It is the same format as their other job simulator games, but thats what I like about them. I like seeing the same items across all their games, and this game has its own unique items and mechanics. I really enjoyed the day to day tasks, and the advancements in the ability to repair stuff is cool. I just wish the homeless man would show up more so I can get the last achievement lol
cute, easy to learn mechanics, mildly repetitive but still fun
