Very good design and graphics. Works on GNU/Linux.
You have to cure a desease and for that you need to break DNA chain. You pilot a drone that can shoot enemy cell and grab DNA piece. The gameplay is a mix of a shoot'em up and a match3. The switch between the shoot'em up and the match3 let you altern between action and reflexion. When you grab a piece of DNA your invicible for the match3. As soon as you release your piece of DNA, you need to shoot at enemy that fire at you. There is a lot of variety in the level. Sometimes there is a boss hiding the DNA chain and firering at you energy bullet. Sometims you have a laser that fire intermittent. Good story with good voiceover that gave a little something to this mix. And I really like the gorgeous FX! The music is relaxing, and put your brain in the "zone" like you should be in this kind of game. cons: I don't always understand where is my shield level. From what I understand, when I grab something, the shield replinish. I think this GUI info should be on the ship and not on the bottom right of the screen (maybe there is, but I don't see it). PS: I'm also a game Dev and I like game mixed genre :)
One of the best machup ever made. - Great graphics (put your sunglasses on please!) - Nice mach3 system, combine with a great shooter - Voice acting! - The best of Zuma and Geometry Wars combined! What else?
Very pleasantly surprised by this. Why is it that games from 3-person teams so often surpass blockbuster releases when it comes to writing and voice acting?
I'm so glad this is back on Steam. It doesn't take away from the fact the developers lost a lot of money they will never take it back, but at least their wonderful project will (hopefully) finally reach a brand new audience. They managed to take that already addictive Zuma formula to a whole new level of complexity and fun, adding a lot of map-contextual challenges and mechanics, along with a nice variety of guns and upgrades. Aesthetics are great - visuals are crisp and cohesive to the DNA-tech premise and the soundtrack is quite atmospheric and chilling as well. On top of they went out of their way to add a story (with voice overs!) that actually justifies what you're doing gameplay wise, which is mind boggling considering the game would already be very fun just as a arcade-like "here's a bunch of levels, just beat them" experience. If you like a game that will test your shooting dexterity with quite a bit of strategic decisions along the way please give this game a go, the developers truly deserve it - specially after all the drama they've endured for the past few years. Thoroughly recommended.
It's back! It took almost 4 years of legal disputes, but it's back! Gotta put in a good word here, this game is fun and deserves more recognition. If you like twin stick shooters/puzzle games, definitely pick this up.
A solid, satisfying combination of twin-stick shooter and match-3 puzzle gameplay, Transcripted is definitiely worth a try for fans of both genres.
I think I got this game from a bundle (it might even be that Groupees bundle that sold the keys without legal consent of the developers), and I've been feeling bad about not buying this back in that daily deal in 2012 December. It just wasn't available anymore for purchase... The memory still haunts me, because this is one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played! You're essentially twin-stick-shooting and dodging stuff while you're setting up combos in the "DNA chain". It's intense! PROS: + Great soundtrack + Great gameplay + Enough story to make you want to go on + Upgrade system + Setting up combos + Awesome and versatile boss fights CONS: - I don't remember anything negative. I played 6-8 hours which was the complete game depending on how much I sucked, but this is not my first time playing it. Definitely worth it. In fact, to make up for having this game via Topware's illegally sold key, I'll just have to buy it again for a friend!
Nice game, shame about the difficulty curve.
Transcripted. Launched in 2012, stuck on a limbo for 4 years now back again to the store shelves.
Question: did the game age well? I'd say yes. Transcripted is a: - single player - twin stick shooter - puzzle game (very similar to Zuma and Luxor) That also features: - an amazing soundtrack that becomes better the more you play the game - actual plot and voice acting - varied levels of difficulty: for both the puzzle and shooter part of the game - an upgrade system with unlocks relevant to the progression of the story I have played this back in 2012 and once more today in 2016 and the game still feels good, both with a gamepad and mouse and keyboard controls. Like any twin stick shooter it has a decent enemy variety to keep you on your toes and the puzzle part feels extremely satisfying instead of feeling like a chore. Mind you, I am a fan of games that mix both so its possible that my bias is showing. Nevertheless, a worthy entry on the genre. Not a perfect game by all means, but very well made and the effort put into the game really shows. For the price you are looking at about 3 or 4 hours of fun gameplay on the normal difficulty at the very least if you are decent at this kind of game.
