Visually a really nice Environment. Just be aware if you're buying it for Multiplayer that there are more Servers than Players and you only have lots of people playing when it's in featured in the main channel. Most people hate it for how the car controls on wood but tbh the whole trick is know where you want you want to turn, as changing directions to quickly will cause you to slither. Also the sand sections arent really made to fullspeed as its easy to crash into some little stones or water. Whats meant to fullspeed imo are Streets and Rollercoasterrails as the car controls are really responsive. I liked to play lagoon over the other environments because i really like the colors, it reminds me of TM United Island. Also i basically just hate the new soundtrack for Stadium which sounds so much more synthetic than the one fore Nations Forever, and im not a fan of Canyons drift based gameplay. However Valley i would recommend which you can get for 3,99€ from a thirdparty Keystore, as it also has nice graphics that can make you forget its weird car controls ;-D. (Valley car has the slowest steering out of all car models in TM2) For Multiplayer Playerbase is basically: Trackmania 2020 = really high (but some prepaid subscription ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ so only get it if youre interested in the Map of the Day community maps) Nations Forever = High (i've seen servers with 20+ people in them) (If you upgrade to United still only Stadium Nations Forever Servers will have a lot of Players) TM2 Stadium = High TM2 Stadium Chase = None exept when its featured in Main Channel but i really like the gamemode TM2 Canyon = High TM2 Valley = low but there (you will mostly find a server with 3 people on it) TM2 Lagoon " = if its not currently featured in main channel none TM2 Multienvironment = None exept for events like Kekl and Builders cup Shootmania = None even when its in channels TM3 Turbo = Couldn't find a single one playing Multiplayer while trying the demo so i deleted it
Trackmania 2 Lagoon is in this weird spot of the Trackmania franchise, where the compilation of all Trackmania 2 environments was already released through Trackmania Turbo, but the dedicated Lagoon game came out a year later. To clarify, I haven't played Turbo yet, so I fully focus on what Lagoon does as its own expansion/game. So, was this an oddly ceremonious ending to this era of the franchise? The most appealing part is, without a doubt, the environment itself. The Trackmania 2 games already looked great, but this island setting is especially appealing, because you can place a lot of decoration to make it look natural, while the other games occasionally suffer as a result of very obvious block-like-looking track elements. This isn't to say there aren't any track elements that don't look blocky, but in comparison to other games, it focuses much more on decoration. Now, you'd assume that a good-looking game would make you remember many parts of the new tracks, since they're so pretty, but disappointingly, that isn't the case. In comparison to previous games, I at least retained a handful of tracks since they were that good, but in Lagoon, man, I can remember like three tracks at most. Not that I have Alzheimer's, but these are some of the most generic courses made, they barely go all out theming- and layout-wise and instead settle for doing the bare minimum. The only two really fun features are the magnetic blocks that let your car do spirals or drive upside-down, leading to awesome potential design ideas, and the different house decoration blocks that allow you to drive on them and use them as ramps. Besides that, many tracks are either just a random assortment of blocks or you are simply speeding through the beaches and jungles dozens of times. There is no real variety compared to the other entries, where you had narrow roads and canyons, stadiums with lots of ramps and varying surfaces, or small towns and lakes with rally trails. Unfortunately, the driving itself fares no better. If we ignore the Nintendo DS Trackmania games, then this is the most inconsistent-feeling Trackmania ever made. I don't necessarily have a problem with very responsive handling cars; heck, I love the snow car for that exact reason; however, if you pair the responsiveness with inconsistent surfaces, then it's just irritating for no valid reason. One second you speed through a beach with lacking grip due to the dirt, the next, the car recognizes a small, barely noticeable building block as asphalt, instantly regains grip, and you steer into a tree. This happens so many times, it ain't even funny. Whereas other Trackmania games have very clear textures to signal their surface type, Trackmania Lagoon doesn't. You also don't know when the grip changes while driving through water, sometimes you keep the dirt physics, other times you'll be submerged thanks to a sudden grip change. Even the drift-like wood blocks are sometimes not wood because some dev forgot to give the turbo wood block the properties of a wood surface. Every time you even remotely drive on a dirt surface, you just pray that some random asset doesn't ruin your run. As you can tell, these issues don't make for a great replayable game where time trials and self-improvement are everything. Additionally, there is not much car tech here to understand The stadium car has different levels of speed, with gear changes, different levels of drift, and so on to shave off milliseconds. The canyon car is drift-focused, leading to some insane tricks you can pull off. The valley car is rather hard to control, meaning you can't just ball with it, you need to understand it. The Lagoon car at most gives you the option to take really tight corners that aren't nearly as satisfying to drive. The last problem I have is a Trackmania 2 issue in general. When you jump, the camera, for some reason, won't move up to ensure you see at the very least where you're jumping to, instead, it zooms in on the car's dump truck in the middle of the screen. This is especially bad, cause look at the car...it takes up 1/3rd of the screen. The Trackmania 2 tetralogy had some amazing fun environments and ideas, but Lagoon is an unceremonious ending. It does everything worse and then some. Out of all the games, it's also a ghost town if you'd like to play online. I ain't exaggerating when I say this is the worst Trackmania game you can get on PC. 5/10.
me when rollercoaster level 😎 me when sand level 😠
A somewhat poor port of the Lagoon environment into Trackmania 2. Solo campaign is generally low effort, and the magnets on the tracks may fail to hold your car to the surface because the developers increased acceleration on magnetic surface in an update. The way car drives may not be to everyone's liking either, switching from insane grip on roads and magnets to poor grip on wood and offroad. Also generally not a very active environment. Only buy if you want to complete TM2 collection and unlock environment mixing and united cars.
im a real lagooner i love lagooning
Las críticas negativas por el launcher me parecen cuestionables. Sí, tiene un launcher, lo lanzas, el juego se descarga, y listo. A mí me dio 0 problemas.
reading the reviews of this game is really funny some people have no clue how maniaplanet works
Could have been a nice game, but the horrible grip of the car and inconsistency of the handling is outliving the pros. The environment is pleasant, a decent change of pace from the stadium/valley environment, but for some reason the level editor's building pieces feel scarce, unlike, for example, the ones present in TM2 Valley. I gave it an honest try, from white tracks to blue tracks in the solo campaign, and it was a disappointment. The car does NOT grip to the magnetic tracks as it's supposed to, go a bit too fast and the car is abruptly hurled off the track into oblivion. In addition, the handling on wooden platforms is incredibly dumb, they give off the vibe that the car is sliding on ice, not to mention that on sand or grass the car glides with little grip. What's more funny is that the handling of the car on asphalt pieces is incredible, you can take sharp turns with almost maximum speed. Could be worth it if purchased on a heavy discount or if the problems I mentioned above get fixed in a future update.

Like the game. I think its awesome Hate the vehicle handling though, especially when off road. The car just seems too unstable to me I'd say if you want to try it, wait for a sale
