Trackastrophe!

Petit jeu que je suivais depuis un moment, après avoir testé une des premières démos, je savais que j'en arriverais là. Eh bah pas déçue ! Trackastrophe! est un petit jeu de puzzle où le but est de faire passer un tchou-tchou à travers un tableau. Plutôt simple, non ? Au début, oui et puis ça se corse. Malgré ça, le jeu est plutôt accessible. Chaque niveau augmente la difficulté sans que ça soit trop abrupte et on nous invite à penser différemment pour évoluer à travers ceux-ci. C'est intelligent et bien construit. Bon, les niveaux bonus c'était clairement trop grocervo pour moi qui ne suis pas habituée des jeux de puzzles. Mais ça va parce qu'il est possible de gratter des indices pour nous aider si, par malheur, on se retrouve bloqué·e. J'aime bien la DA un peu vieux cartoon. On peut personnaliser le train et c'est cool. La musique est vraiment très sympa. Il y a plusieurs biômes avec chacun leurs nouvelles mécaniques. Le décor est interactif. Bref, p'tit jeu indé comme on les aime. Et pas hyper cher, en prime. La team de dev est à surveiller et j'ai hâte de voir ce qu'iel nous réservent pour la suite !

I first played this last year, back when they released the first demo, and i'm just so happy to see how this game has grown ❤️ It's a lovely little gem of a puzzle game. Perfect if you like pathfinding puzzles like Railbound (or trains!). Get a nice beverage, sit back and take a chill moment with some train puzzles (that's what I did and i loved it).

Jeu chill et douillet, je suis nulle en puzzle mais je m'amuse bien malgré tout (en espérant que d'ici quelques dizaines d'heures en plus j'aurai enfin un peu avancé 🤡) Blague à part, trop cool et on peut colorer son train comme on veut, BANGER.

Trackastrophe is a pathfinding train puzzle game that brings a lot more tactical strategy to the table than its casual aesthetic lets on. The core loop is built around a fun cartoon art style where you draft directional rails on a grid map to safely guide your engine to its destination node. One of the strongest pros of the experience is how well it handles the ramping of its puzzle mechanics. It transitions smoothly from introductory, easy layouts into genuinely tough brain-teasers, and it even offers extra bonus levels for players who want to test their spatial planning. The game gives you a decent hint system if you get stuck, and finally pulling the throttle lever to watch your solution play out feels incredibly smart and rewarding. Plus, you get a neat little custom menu where you can change up your train with different colors and goofy hat unlocks. But here is where the bad stuff comes in. The biggest potential con is the overall length, as seasoned puzzle players might find that the campaign runs a bit on the shorter side if you just sprint straight through it. On top of that, the level design leans heavily on a one puzzle solution structure for each stage. Having only one definitive correct path to clear a map means there is not much room for creative sandbox layout building, which might not appeal to everyone who wants to engineer wild, complex track loops. My final verdict is that it is honestly not a bad puzzle game at all. The price tag sits at $8.99, which feels somewhat fair for the quality of the handcrafted maps and the charm of the presentation. It is a solid, cozy little title to pick up if you want to test your brain over a couple of game sessions.
