Toyland is a visually excellent game and just about perfectly captures the art style of Cuphead and the source material of it. However this game does come with its issues as I feel the great execution visually makes people oversight the other parts of this game. At a price tag of 3 dollars, it feels too expensive to just have one boss and needs some more polish. Like previously the game looks great but even that has issues. It can be difficult to differentiate projectiles from the static parts of the level. It is also difficult to tell at what point does a projectile become untouchable when passing through the floor. The dash ability also suffers from blending in making it hard to tell where you are. Hitboxes are confusing for this game as even with the boss you have to just to hit them as you can not stand close using the lock feature because it will just make you run into the boss. It is still difficult to tell what parts of an attack would hurt. The controls in this game are inconsistent and limited. Whether keyboard or controller the game makes it a struggle to play with limited controls and only have two types of controls Classic and Looney. Even with those two options using both types of device or setting still requires you to have your positioning be complex with inputs being in weird locations such as with keyboard if you use WASD you have to use Z to shoot when it is right below A which is used to go left. With either device players will most likely have to use more fingers than expected when playing and they can not change them to anything else. For menus controls are much different as with a typical Xbox controller you have to use B to select but when in game it swaps from what you would expect. I do like some of the mechanics but they are turned into liabilities when trying to use them with how you are forced to play. With the controls being unusual and the unclear implications from the visuals gameplay is greatly impacted but there is still more issues even with the pros. Jumping is confusing as if you start moving left or right while in the air it keeps you going in that directions. The boss attacks are very fun and enjoyable regardless of the faults as the projectiles work nicely together making you have to think whether to act now or wait till later to move from one spot to another or when to jump or use dash. This game may be visually well executed but that does not make up for its lacking in gameplay and design and I believe it is not worth the 3 dollar price tag currently unless major improvements come along.
This game was extremely charming. the boss is fun the music is great the animations are absolutely amazing ! my only complaint is how floaty the character is. but other than that 100% would recommend !
The controls and physics are a bit weird, and there's only one boss, but this game captures the magic of Cuphead almost perfectly. It genuinely feels like the dev lifted a boss straight from Cuphead.
An honestly, nicely done little game. The game is incredibly short as it only has one boss, but has replay value with the tougher difficultly level and ranking. The visuals, music, and style are all great, but I do have a few issues with it. I wish we could map our own controls. The two control schemes we can choose from do not allow for custom button maps. As a hardcore Cuphead player, I'm used to setting R2/RT as my shoot button. There is no progress meter when you die, so you have absolutely no idea how well you were doing before death. The air dash mostly causes you to take take damage, other than preventing it. I found it better to for use it. All in all, this is a really solid and fun effort. For 2 bucks you honestly can't complain, but just know there's not a lot of content here.
Esse jogo é bom, tanto na jogabilidade, na dificuldade e no visual
Very clean visuals and music, good boss design, but controls are unresponsive and too sensitive which makes this game absolutely unplayable
This was peak. The art style is goated, and contrary to popular belief, no, Cuphead does NOT own the beautiful rubberhose style animation of the 30's and I think its wonderful for another game to enter the run n gun/boss fight rubberhose 30's style gaming corner of the world. Also the music was awesome. The hour or so of fun you get from this is well worth the three dollar price tag. Support the dev, they did this all themselves and are headed to college. Some gameplay things, yes the other reviews tell some truth on the floaty feel of the jump andddd being able to change controls would be sick. I would certainly love to play another if thats what to come from the dev. Much love, yes play this game folks
Хороший боссфайт. Впервые вижу такую геймплейную идею: "один босс на всю игру, но он реально крутой"
A very cool Cuphead inspired game.
A really simple, short but very well crafted game! Huge fan of Cuphead so this game is defo worth the price! The artstyle and music are amazing! My only complaint is how wonky it feels to move in the air.
