A good little pair of games! you can tell there was allot of love poured into these games, the sprite work and animation is surprisingly well done, and the gameplay while simple is a throwback to classic scroller adventures. admittedly i like sword better than tower, sword has a more open world layout and NPCs to talk to, but i like the design of tower's succubus better. the linear gameplay of tower, while not my favorite of the two, is still good, and the update to graphics that tower received is excellent. i hope that whoever designed these games gets to making more, I'd like a game like sword with tower's graphics, but i understand that both of these were likely a labor of love. even if you're not here for goonery, if you long for a game not unlike the OG legend of zelda games as well as arcade dungeon crawlers this is a big recommend, mad props to the designer of this gem!
Quite the Curious Bundle of games. I will first talk about Sword of Succubus and then Tower. The Sword of Succubus is clearly an inspired Zelda game, of the first ones at that. The gameplay is nice and fluid, the story is ok, it serevs its purpose of being a device to navigate, and the substories are also decent. The hentai animations and gallery is good and full pixel art, with quite a ton of content. My main problem would be the lack of a good tutorial, you can play the game to 100% but the first hour will be a bit chaotic. And well, the end game boss is a jump in difficulty. The achivements for this game are tedious to obtain, not hard, but tedious, which are not my favourite, luckily (albeit a bit cheap) you can modify your savefile easily, quite useful to get the "complete the game again" achivements, just jumping straight to the final boss, which also is the hardest fight. Then there is Tower of Succubus, I reccomend for narrative to play this one first, but overall I belive it might be inferior to Sword, not 100% sure. The story is non-existant, just a dungeon crowler, but there is a lot and I mean a LOT of pixel, which would be great, if it wasn't easy to bug. I for example could see more than half of the monster h scenes (or so I think) because there are spaces in the ones i have unlocked and after tinkering a bit i was able to gain the "slime" one for example, that was bugged out for me. The fights are ok, but honestly, grinding being mandatory kills a bit of the flow, as if its true that the combat works, it is not the reason you will be playing. Again, a bit cheap but I recommend to just edit your level to 60 and enjoy the good portions of the game (I like the Anna section and the art for the mini bosses is quite nice). The final boss can be easy or an inferno, all depends on how much time the knights spen in front of the Queen. For achivements is the same situation as for Sword, with the exception that this game feels WAY longer. Overall, I think is a good bundle, but I do not recommend to try to get all achivements, as doing so has killed a bit of the enjoyment I had for the game. That is not to say that I do not recommend the game, the price is ok, and honestly, just a regular playthrough of both has more content that I expected. It seems that the third game does not work, which is a bit sad.
Both Sword, and Tower of Succubus are solid games. I found it a bit frustrating at first because of some terrible RNG with bosses, and having to focus on too many things on the screen. Then I understood it's old school and some level of precision is required to navigate. Things might seem unfair, one can get stuck around the corner while running away or might get hit from multiple direction or even the hitbox might come off as ridiculous, but with a level head and some precision on timing to hold your breaks can get you through. I have played both the game on all difficulty for the achievements, so 6 times starting with Master(Hard) ending with Original(Easy). And I appreciate all the effort from the devs to make the game interesting and not coming off sloppy. Yes there are some game elements in Sword that is tedious but it is definitely not going to eat up multiple hours. Both games have good save mechanics to allow retries so at no point players will loose progress, unless there is a lack of planning. The game expects players to plan, it is not a casual game mind you and it is easy to die. I have to say this because of some threads referring to the bosses as impossible or worse than any souls games, which might come as true until you come up with a strategy. It is highly unlikely to brute force or cheese through any of the bosses. SoS does have some bosses with exploits to stand in a specific spot to not get hit but you can hit them, no such thing with ToS.
I really like the stuff from Libra Heart but I just really struggle with this gameplay loop. Maybe I’ll try it again and figure it out. Maybe it’s just not the kind of game for me. Love the art as always.
A dirty pair of zesty Zelda-likes that combine a decent sense of adventure swordplay with an indecent sense of humor and fat tiddy action. Sword of Succubus plays much like the original Legend of Zelda, while Tower plays a bit more arcade style, closer to something like Dig Dug or Crystal Mines. Both give you the option of defeating enemies with either your fighting skills or your f**king skills, and even though it takes a teensy bit longer for the animation to play, it's generally more advantageous to f**k your way to victory (you ARE playing as a succubus, after all!). Gameplay is pretty good overall, but very true to the old-school approach, so don't expect much by way of mercy. The boss fights often feel frustrating and unforgiving at first, but they all have a groove to them. If nothing else, the music is straight bangin' (heh) and the sexual silliness of it all make the difficulty feel trivial after all. I didn't quite 100% the games, but even at a casual pace, playing through both took roughly 9 hours combined, so I feel it was an absolute bargain for the price. Highly recommended for people who (like me) think more games should have a "Milk" stat!
goty
2 zelda games and 1 castlevania in one, and you can bang people to death.
