This game when it first came out was honestly somewhat of a disappointment. It had some great ideas but it just wasn’t quite there. However in 2026 it has truly become my favorite total war game. If you love the three kingdoms period this is an incredible game! I highly suggest people if you do get it play it with mods (check out the new general collection). While a lot don’t have English support honestly the sheer level of quality and enthusiasm the modders have is incredible they have completely changed the game! Just an example with the new general collection it adds tons of new characters/events/skills/models/units/difficulty it’s incredible. It reminds me a lot of the DEI mod for Rome 2 with its scale. I just started a new Lu Bu campaign and it’s become my favorite campaign so far. I’m constantly desperately fighting to survive, having to make real strategic decisions every turn and trying to use Lu Bu and his retinue under constant pressure to desperately hold on. It has been so much fun actually having the ai gang up on me and make smarter choices both on the campaign and in battles rather than just steam rolling the ai every campaign. Incredible game and incredible mod it’s awesome I highly recommend it! While the mods in the playlist do not have English support it really is fine 70% of the game is still English and most of the Chinese is recognizable sentences after a few turns. For the rest just use a translator (I use the one on my phone) for the events and such. Can’t recommend the game and the mod playlist enough. If you love the three kingdoms period, or want really fun unique characters that actually form relationships with the rest of the characters based off of how you play, or just want a great rts/strategy game this is the game for you!
어떻게 하는지 하나도 모르겠음
One of the best launches of a Total War game, and then CA killed it because 1 DLC, of an era people didn't care about and when all of the romance characters you knew and loved were all dead and gone, didn't sell well enough. Shame.
Three Kingdoms has, in my opinion, the best campaign mechanics in the Total War series. Diplomacy actually matters. Characters have personalities, relationships influence politics, and building an empire feels just as important as winning battles. Every campaign creates memorable stories rather than simply painting the map your color. The downside is that campaigns can become very long, especially once you've established a strong kingdom. If you mainly play Total War for constant battles, the pacing may feel slower than games like Napoleon or Shogun 2. But if you enjoy strategy beyond the battlefield, Three Kingdoms is easily one of Creative Assembly's finest achievements. Highly recommended.
CA showed their dedication to historical accuracy by making Cao Cao inarguably the most overpowered faction in the game.
heroes ruined total war
just get lu bu, then take the horse and spear and give it to Sun Ce, u get your China. 9/10.
