«Torn Tales: Rebound Edition»
“I scream for everything that has gone wrong. I scream for everything broken in our lives.” ~Marie Lu, Champion
Torn Tales was a bad game. Very bad. Feel free to check my review for more details, but honestly, all you need to know about it can be told in one short sentence. It's short, it feels cheap (the balance there doesn't even exist), it's dumb, there are no towns or NPC, there are no quests to do (they claim there are but honestly, there aren't) and, the worst of all, it's slow. So slow it's unbearable. That's pretty much it. That's everything you should know about Torn Tales. Now here comes a new version of it a-a-and... yeah. That's where sh*t hits the fan for real. First of all, even though technically, it's the same exact game, they want us to pay $14.99 for it. You can get a small discount if you already have the original Torn Tales in your Steam library, but I don't think it helps that much. It's the same exact game. And you need to pay more for it. Brilliant. Just brilliant. But wait, it gets worse. Way worse... First – the entire new content here is just ten new maps (in case you didn't play the game before, the maps here take only a few minutes to finish, there are no secrets to discover and, like I already said, there are no NPCs and no quests). They have also added some sort of crafting system, which actually helps a little since, instead of throwing stuff away (yes, there are no stores here too and the only way to get the equipment is to find it on levels), you can turn it into money and then use the money to make something better. It helps... a little bit... I guess... but all in all, the only real addition here is ten new maps. With no new story. For $14.99. Beautiful... The worst thing, though, is that this game is... broken. That's right. You can't finish this version at all. Just because the fourth chapter (there are five of them here) is broken and instead of properly load the first level, the game... well... breaks. So, let me put things straight. They took a game that was already terrible and, despite pretty interesting motif that allowed us to control Snow White, Robin Hood and Dr. Jekyll in American McGee-like setting, absolutely awful, added ten more maps and a way to get better equipment and then... asked $14.99 for it. Without doing any testing. Because yes, it's not just a game-breaking bug we're talking about here. It's a completely... broken... game. Developers know. Developers don't care. And before you'll ask, no, you can't just transfer your save file to the original version of the game, pass the broken map and switch back. Because save files here are not compatible with the original Torn Tales. Like I said, Torn Tales was a bad game. Now? Now it's broken. You really want to finish something as awful as this? Get yourself the original. It's cheaper and, well, it works. Even though it'll still be the same crappy game, at least you can beat all chapters there. This? Paying for this is like throwing the money away. Already bought it but didn't have time to play? Get yourself a refund. Because supporting the broken products in Steam? It's always a bad idea. Dixi.
This is a fun little party based Action RPG. I picked it up at around $4.50 and I'm enjoying it. Don't go into the game expecting something crazy in-depth. However, the characters are interesting enough to make it fun. I really like how Dr. Jekyll plays in particular. If you're familiar with classic fairy tales, then you will definitely enjoy this game with all of its references and enemies you encounter. I say give it a try if you catch it on sale. It's very easy to pick up and play a chapter or two when you have time. EDIT: I just hit chapter four and there's a bug where the game loads underneath the stage, so you can't progress. I can't recommend the game with a game-breaking bug like this. Once it's fixed, I'll switch it back to a positive review, but I can't in good conscious recommend this game when it has a bug that prevents you from finishing the game.
Fatal bug at Chapter 4, Permafrost Caverns. Game cannot be continued. At begginning of the level, the screen is just distorted shapes. Mouse and keyboard don't do anything at all. Have to kill the game. ***Not recommended till this is fixed, if ever*** Pity cause I liked a lot how the game played till that bug. Also don't like the selling apart both the old version of the game and the Rebound Edition expanded version.
Torn Tales: Rebound Edition
It is the extended version of Torn Tales with many more features present and the possibility of playing it in cooperative with our friends, will be the next teacher in the RPG? Lets go see it. Positive Points •Amazing sound ambience, both in the sound effects and in the music of the game itself. •A fantastic HUD that already many other titles would like to have. •3 types of different game modes: The campaign, sand and hardcore. •The shadows are incredible. •The characters that you do not control will have ways in which you can adapt them according to your way of playing or the situation: Attack, defense or escape. •A mini-map that looks great, making it seem almost invisible but very helpful. •Many skills for each character, having sub-branches of themselves and everything. A great contribution from the developers in the tree of skills of the game. •Many maps to be able to explore. •A number of decent enemies with which we can meet and fight, in addition to what they differ from one another in a relevant way. •With the gold we will obtain, we can craft objects for our heroes. •One touch I saw and what really charms me is that each hero has his personalized HUD, we will see it when using them. •Possibility to play cooperative with your friends. •It is compatible with command. •At any time we can reimburse the points spent on a skill. •A story, of all the missions, incredible that leads us to a totally free world and full of possibilities of all kinds. •A Discord server that will bring us advantages in the game if we use it. •Different temporary increases or disadvantages of both enemies and our characters depending on how we have trained them. •Bosses are marked with a very epic icon on the minimap. •Any computer could run it. Neutral Points •There are not as many graphical preferences that can be modified, but if they are enough. •The scenarios look beautiful while the characters look awful and pixelated edges sometimes. •We can only save a game using the checkpoints that are scattered on the map at the end of an area. •You can not tell the difference between one difficulty and another. •Its price is debatable. Negative Points •The movement of the characters is very rare, making it look unreal to this one. •The combats are full of errors, characters that do not stick (Both on the part of your characters and enemies) or what they walk where they want without paying attention to your orders. •The stage is loaded as the player progresses, so you almost always see a white line that is filled as you go, becoming very ugly aesthetically. •The camera is very poorly positioned, no matter how free it is from the horizontal points of view, it is very high on the character, so sometimes we do not literally see anything of what is ahead. •It is only available in 3 languages, being these companies would have to have more. •Many times the clicks do not react, either in combat or when giving orders outside of it. •Crappy animations that leave much to be desired. •They have not updated it since its departure. Conclusion It is a good game talking about the theoretical (skills and lore), but put to practice has a heavy combat and horrible graphic features. I recommend buying it at your own risk, if you're not sure do not do it simply. The game could not be completed due to a fatal bug in Chapter 4, The Permafrost Caverns.
I bought the full version from steam but receive a message telling me this is a trial version and to go by the full version lol
Whatever, its too hard game, bosses are too strong, otherwise it is poor similiar game like Diablo, Titan Quest or Van Helsing. that point, slash, clash and loot. This game is still else in development, so thats it is so like so. Next time it will maybe will better...
It has some bugs, but game itself is very good. It's simillar to Diablo
