Unfortunately I got burned out on this game very quickly. Everything looks so cute and cozy but once you realize you can only progress with excessive grinding or with min maxing your extremely limited garden space... you don't wanna invest the time anymore. I got to my breaking point when I was around 500 growing cycles in to plant and harvest a spot with a sunflower shine on it. Because in this spot I got to harvest both the veggie and its seed to continue the cycle. So I got a good amount of harvest from all different seeds that can grow on this specific spot. Then I needed to make a new sunflower spot with different soil to grow other crops on and repeat the cycle. And I just had to ask myself: Why am I doing this?! It's not fun. It's just repeating the same thing over and over just to be able to buy more seeds and then have to undo my growing area because the soil preferences would not match anymore. It's a shame but once a cozy game starts to feel like work, it's no longer a cozy game.
Okay, I've only played four hours, and the value for the money is great. However, the level of tedium I'm at with this point is kinda making my head wanna explode lol. You know those merge games on mobile that are addicting at first and eventually get to a point where it feels impossible to get what you need in an endless chain? That's what happens here. It feels satisfying when you finally unlock something but it just gets to a point where the grind isn't worth it. That being said - it was a cute puzzle that I felt happy playing and I MIGHT come back to it one day. I didn't even focus on decorating so maybe I'll switch focus to that next time. For now though I need a break 😅
I grew up playing with Polly Pockets so when I saw Tiny Garden, I knew I had to have it. I wanted to like it so badly but I lost interest after only an hour. It's tedious and I don't like the "chaining" required to grow crops. I'd have enjoyed it more if growing crops produced gold that I could use to buy more seeds. Using crops to buy seeds - having to think increasingly further ahead - all while having access to a limited amount of space just isn't an enjoyable mechanic for me. Even at the start it felt limiting in a way that detracted from my excitement over the PP design and cute graphics. I only paid $8 for Tiny Garden so while it's relatively cheap, it cost just enough that I decided to request a refund rather than potentially waste the money hoping I'd change my mind later. I can't remember the last time I requested a refund for a game on Steam and I'm a little sad that I feel compelled to return this one. If the developer makes something like it with a different mechanic, I'd definitely give it a try. I really like the base idea.
I first saw this game advertised as a cosy garden sim, and clicked. As soon as I saw the 'pocket toy' setup, I had already fallen in love! :D Polly Pockets and Mighty Max toys were a big feature of my 90's tweenhood, so I instantly had to see what what going on. I was not disappointed at all! This is a lovely and wholesome game, with a cute aesthetic :) You could play it purely for creativity, but is also quite addictive as a small management sim, with the game benefits being that you can create your own little home and beautiful garden :) I particularly like the 'tactile' crank mechanism that advances time; I can't explain why but it is very satisfying :) Perhaps there should be a 'reverse' crank to undo some moves? I love this game :D I got it on sale, but even at full price I think it's good value for money. This game would suit a gamer of any age, 9 to 99 :)
I liked this game at first. It's an adorable concept and I love unlocking new terrain and new plants. But the garden board is annoyingly small, and some of the puzzles to create terrain I can't figure out, and I'm completely stuck at this point, so yeah, I'm done.
great little game.
Tiny Garden, developed by Ao Norte and published by Super Rare Originals and Gamersky Games, is a gentle and captivating simulation game that invites players to step into a miniature world filled with endless gardening possibilities. Released in early 2025, the game stands out for its combination of relaxing gameplay, charming aesthetics, and deep customization options, creating a peaceful sanctuary for players who enjoy slow-paced, thoughtful experiences. Unlike traditional farming or garden simulators that often focus on efficiency and progression, Tiny Garden emphasizes creativity, exploration, and discovery within a beautifully crafted, compact space that feels both nostalgic and magical. At its core, Tiny Garden is about nurturing a variety of plants, ranging from vibrant flowers to quirky vegetables, each possessing unique characteristics and interactions. The gameplay encourages experimentation; players are free to arrange their gardens however they like, mixing plants with decorative toy furniture to create a personalized oasis. There are no stress-inducing timers, scores, or failure conditions, which fosters an environment where players can unwind and engage with the world at their own pace. This design philosophy ensures that gardening becomes a calming and meditative experience rather than a task-driven challenge. Additionally, the game includes subtle puzzle elements and strategic planning in how plants grow and interact, adding a layer of depth that keeps the gameplay engaging over long sessions. Visually, Tiny Garden shines with its quaint, toy-like aesthetic that evokes a sense of nostalgia for childhood playsets while simultaneously feeling fresh and modern. The garden itself is a colorful, compact diorama that players can view from multiple angles, allowing them to appreciate the details of each plant and decoration. The art direction strikes a delicate balance between whimsy and clarity, ensuring that the world feels inviting without overwhelming the senses. The UI is clean and intuitive, designed to help players easily access gardening tools, trade resources, and customize their space without frustration. Complementing the visuals is a soothing soundtrack that perfectly matches the tranquil mood, helping to immerse players in the game's relaxing atmosphere. Critically, Tiny Garden has been well received for how it blends relaxing simulation with light puzzle and strategy mechanics. Reviewers and players alike praise its thoughtful design, which encourages creativity and personalization rather than rigid goals. The ability to trade harvests for unique furniture items and decorations adds an additional motivation to experiment and explore, enriching the player’s connection to their garden. The inclusion of a scenario editor also greatly extends the game’s replayability, empowering players to craft custom gardens and share their creations. However, some have noted that the game’s slow pacing and gentle learning curve may feel too laid-back for those seeking more immediate action or challenge, but this is generally viewed as a conscious design choice that aligns with the game’s overall ethos. Overall, Tiny Garden is a standout title for anyone looking to escape into a serene and imaginative world. Its charming presentation, combined with its open-ended and stress-free gameplay, makes it a unique experience within the gardening and simulation genres. Whether you are a seasoned gamer or simply someone who appreciates a slower, more reflective pace, Tiny Garden offers a cozy and endlessly delightful space to cultivate creativity and unwind. It’s a reminder that sometimes the simplest pleasures—watching a garden grow and crafting your own little corner of the world—can provide the most meaningful and satisfying gaming moments. Rating: 8/10
This is a slow paced game that's easy to play, but you will sink some time into finishing it. It's super fun and if there are issues or questions the developers are pretty open and quick at replying which is a plus for someone like me that can't see a simple solution in front of my face because I am 3 levels deep into the matrix computing processes! Great price for what you get especially when games never give you the dollar per hour of gametime anymore (this goes beyond that for value if you complete it), and fun surprises in the game. I probably am missing something here but overall definitely worth a buy if you like this type of game. This is more cozy game, less of a farming simulator in terms of something like Stardew for instance but it's still a ton of fun anyways. Pros - Fun, Relaxing, Cozy, Easy to decorate and reorganize to design with multiple layers. Cons - Some of the unlocking seeds and categories can be a bit grindy but once you know what you're doing it goes quite a bit faster especially when you unlock more. It's only grindy to the point that if you absolutely hate any grinding at all I would avoid this, but if minor "grindy' games especially that gets easier over time with learning and leveling this is great for you.
Pledged for the Kickstarter a while ago and didn't get to play it until now for the Switch release. It's honestly much more fun than I thought it would be! The puzzles just really click for my brain, and I've heard that they haven't really clicked for some other people. I'm really incentivized to go in and unlock everything - there seems to be a lot of stuff to unlock. My complaints: the colors change every single item in the decorating, which feels like a huge faux pas for decorating games. I don't want everything to be the same color! I had to pause playing the game because it was getting too repetitive and tedious to have to convert a bunch of plants over and over. I still plan on going back to it one day. Finished? No Steam Achievements? Grind based. Will take a long time. Steam Deck? Works well! Rating? 7/10 My curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45865425-CozyAriGames/ Full videos on Youtube
