Thunderflash is a "love letter" to the arcade games of the 80s. It is a Run 'n Gun game inspired by gems like Ikari Warriors, Commando and Heavy Barrel.

Game is nice. Very old school, for one guy who produced it, it is good work. Controls are relatively tight. It´s an oldschool game, could be a late C64 release, definetaly a NES release for sure. It´s not as good as M.e.r.c.s. or total carnage, bur for 1,99 it´s nice and good enough to kill a couple of hours.

Seems strange to give a negative rating to a game that doesn't have any big flaws, yet I didn't enjoy Thunderflash. The movement and shooting are slow, the line of fire at times stupidly narrow (so you may turn to shoot an enemy coming behind you and still miss him), the levels unexciting, some sections overstaying their welcome (the jetpack, the ladder before the final boss). Bosses too are nothing special, with the final two being oddly easier than the earlier ones; some also look way too different and better than the rest of the graphics, to the point of making me suspicious of where they could have been lifted from. Even the extra survival mode is nothing to write home about. I get it's a deliberate choice to imitate the earliest of the games they took inspiration from, but no ability to shoot in a direction while moving in another feels awkward nowadays, and could have been achieved without some twin-stick control (many old games did that by simply holding the fire button). It's not like they didn't try: besides those bosses, the graphics look like something that could be from an arcade game made in 1987 or so to cash in on Ikari Warriors, 4:3 aspect ratio included, and there are appreciable attempts at mixing things up with shmup sections. The extra part of the ending reveals more of an already clear connection with Dragon Climax. Not enough to redeem the game in my eyes; maybe I had too high expectations after the previous SEEP release, the hidden gem that was Katana Soul.
ONE OF THE BEST SEEP GAME FINISHED THE GAME IN LESS THAN ONE HOUR IT WAS VERY FUN TO PLAY
Thunder Flash'ın yapımcısı Seep Games'in geliştirdiği oyunları çok severim.
Seep is a wonderful little group of peeps dedicated to making great little retro romps , you can never go wrong with, and this is another great one!
