There are a lot of bad thrust clones out there... This is not one of them.

Wot and seriously?!! Nobody review this 21st Century Thrust clone yet? Why on earth not?? It's simply GORGEOUS and bloody hard too... OK, let's go back to that word I used earlier being "clone" as that was simply a play on words to get your attention and perhaps lift up an eyebrow or two...this game is NOT a clone but in fact a brand NEW version of THRUST and it is in some ways even harder than the original 1986 Jeremy C. Smith (Superior Software) BBC Micro version. In fact, let's take stock and say it is much harder than the original version but don't let that put you off from buying this game. If you seriously want a challenge then proceed to penetrate the underground chasms in search of the enemy's power pod and lock it under your ship with your gravity beam, then carefully "thrusting", negotiate your way carefully to the surface where you can (optionally) destroy the reactor and escape into space with a resounding scream of pure joy...raise your fist and yell - yay! To be honest, the gloriously retro music is spot on and very memorable. And the graphics with their multiple layers of scan lines and parallax backdrops are the icing on the cake for pure 8-Bit nostalgia. If you loved Thrust like I do and played it back in the day and you have accidentally stumbled upon this Steam store page then grab this game without a second thought. There are oodles of Thrust clones out there and then there is the apex of the genre with THRUST LEGEND. It deserves all the attention and sales in the world as this is a pure labour-of-love for the developer who is clearly a life-long Number 1 Thrust Fan Boy and top marks to him for coding the definitive version of Thrust. 12/10. RECOMMENDED for all Thrust devotees and newbies around the globe. THRUST LEGEND is the best cave flyer ever created...go grab it now!

Best Thrust game I've played in the last 30-odd years. Perfect music, graphics and gameplay. It's a tough little game, but if you like this sort of thing you know you will keep coming back for more. Very happy to have it in my library.
A wonderful remake of the BBC Micro classic. It faithfully recreates the original planets whilst adding little more challenge in normal play and really forces you to use the shields alot more. The scoring system has also been improved. Childhood Nostalgia Peaks!
Old enough to remember original. Feel this has been over-produced; less attention to graphics & more to game play would have produced much better game.
Enjoying this a great deal. Thrust is probably one of the 100 greatest games every made and this is a worthy Thrust game, within the Thrust lineage. Pinback became the greatest player in the world at Thrust. We're all just gunning for second place.
Massive Retro goodness... I played the original Thrust to death on C64 and loved Gravitar on Atari 2600. Incredibly, this game is WAY better than the official Atari Gravitar Recharged. Works great on my Xbox 360 controller too. The zoom feature is cool and the music is not depressing like Gravitar Recharged and Pixel Junk Shooter. Finally a Thrust game worth putting the hours of practice into. LOVE IT!
A great version of the BBC B game which I remember fondly.. Very challenging but certainly warrants just one more go..oh and cheap as chips
EDIT: Since I wrote this review I've spent dozens of more hours with it, achieved all the achievements, took the top spot on the global leaderboard, analyzed it to death, etc. I take back any hint of any misgivings in the below review. The new mechanics and control sensitivities are all absolutely perfect. The new levels are a serious challenge, but not remotely impossible. This is the best arcade game on Steam. ----- Original Review ----- A fitting tribute to a 40-year-old masterpiece. I only recently discovered the original BBC Micro game "Thrust", on an emulator site that still plays is perfectly well. I fell in love, and then immediately came over here on a Steam friend's glowing recommendation (yo, RB!) It includes the original six levels, each of which has been given a fresh coat of paint. The original's "reverse gravity" levels have been replaced by "underwater" levels, which are an amusing and well done re-introduction of the same mechanic. There are a few design choices which may not sit well with everyone. Particularly, after shooting down an enemy cannon, pieces of it fall away, and the pieces are deadly to your ship, so the cannon can still get you after it's gone. Also, the controls are MUCH more finicky and sensitive than the original. Both elements add additional layers of difficulty to an already extremely difficult game. You will either like them, or get used to them, or wish there was a way to turn them off. Also, other than the original six levels and six more "underwater" levels, there are only a couple other sets of levels, called "New" and "Brutal", and they are all so laughably difficult as to be considered impossible to anyone but the most hardcore Thrust-heads and gravity experts. But I'll keep banging my head against 'em, because the original Thrust game is one of the perfect, incredible achievements in the history of computer gaming, and it hasn't lost a step in the 40 years since its introduction. For $3, if you have any interest in the subject at all, or any interest in cave flyers, it is absurd for you to not purchase this product immediately.
Great game in it's simplicity. Much better then the old version on C-64 which I already loved. Thumps up!
