The Whisperer

The Whisperer is a first person horror tinged walking-simulator style game, enriched with the culture and history of the French Canadian fur-trading milieu. If you pick certain settings, historical facts will be displayed on the screen when you come across items/places of import. There is absolutely an incredible sense of time and place to this game, which is remarkable given the limited scope of the project. The graphics range from good to merely decent, the puzzles are largely intuitive (although I did have a difficult time figuring out what to do next at one point, because a part of the game that previously couldn't be interacted with suddenly became active......bad form devs, bad form.....at least indicate that the region may need further events to occur before it becomes useful, don't just have no form of hot zone/hit box around it whatsoever so that you have no idea that it will later become useful), and the atmosphere is ominous as all get-out. It's not a long game, nor is it an overly ambitious one in terms of scope/level design, but it bloody well works! Recommended!

Found a hatchet, read a letter, found a key, opened a door, went inside, found a bed with a small table next to it. Really exciting game. Maybe there's supposed to be something else that I missed, maybe someplace else to explore? Oh well.

Really nice aesthetics and atmosphere, but unfortunately there's just not enough content to it. Beat it in half an hour and I didn't find the payoff satisfying at all, despite hints of an interesting and creepy presence.

Très bon jeu, court, mais intéressant. Un bon moyen de découvrir le gameplay des jeux suivants, mais ne vous durera pas plus d'une heure. Il n'y a pas de doublage dans celui-ci, ce qui ajouterait vraiment à l'ambiance comme avec les jeux suivants. Ce tout premier jeu reste un très beau projet et cela aurait été dommage de passé à côté. Pour un peu plus de contenus je conseil de cocher les informations historiques dans les options, sinon le jeu doit être un peu vide et incomplet sans.

This prologue is great!! The sound design and visuals are good. I really like the atmosphere in general. It's easily worth the money. I think this game would be perfect for someone who is looking to dip their toes into point and click for the first time.

I don't know why people are giving this negative reviews, it's a prologue to something bigger and the anticipation upon finishing this makes me eager to play the base game to find out more.

There is no good reason why this should be paid (especially at such a high price) as it is very short and feels ore like a demo to The Whispering Valley than a full game. Jeu trop court, peu de contenu, il ne se passe pas grand chose. Il n'y a aucun aucun PNJ avec qui interagir De plus le jeu semble assez mal optimisé. À élevé ou ultra vous pourrez vous pourrez utiliser votre ordinateur comme chauffage central. Obtenu pour 2$, heureusement. le mode historique (qui donne des infos supplémentaires in-game) est plus intéressant que le jeu a proprement parler.

While it sounds like a good idea in concept, the game does not mention anything about suicide or depression within its main description, only after downloading. After that, I got about two steps into the game and it became unresponsive to anything but the inventory button. Fortunately, I only paid 74 cents, but its going straight to immediate refund. Do not purchase, I do not recommend.

Beautiful introduction. It's one of those very rare cases of classic 1st person P&C adventures with excellent atmosphere, aesthetics and an engaging story. I waited for something like this since Scratches and Serena.
