The Voice from Heaven (Match-3) Game provided for Curator review Options include separate sliders for SFX/Music, Tutorial and Timed/Relaxed mode. There doesn't seem to be any benefit to playing it timed, and there are no achievements, so only choose Timed if you like the challenge of possibly having to start the level over :p Gameplay: Standard swap-to-match 3+ mechanics, with 100 levels to complete. Five different areas with 20 levels each, and improvements you can purchase every five levels. Upgrade areas will glow, and those that you can afford will shine like a star. Collect all of the gold-rimmed tiles on the screen in order to progress (you do not have to clear every tile.) Easier said than done when there are two gold to collect on the same square, PLUS they can have two chains on them, making for a grand total of four matches on the same square(s) to get all the gold! Adding to the difficulty are the maps, which get more and more tricky as you progress, requiring you to lean heavily on... ...The Bonuses: We have six kinds of powers at our disposal (once we unlock them in early gameplay). The top two help a lot, two are semi-useful, but the others - ice blast and fireball - are underwhelming. Why? They will not affect any special tiles on the board. Not boxes, not chains, certainly not the gold tiles. In effect, they're glorified shuffle tools. I expected the remove-like-tiles power to affect ALL of the like-pieces on the board, but not so! If they're chained or gold-rimmed, they won't budge like the rest. :\ Charge your six tools by making matches with the corresponding elements. The tile that charges them will change with each level, as you'll be working with a different tile set each time. We have a few bonuses that we can earn by making matches of five or more. Match-4 bonus? Doesn't exist, and matching more than five is really difficult when you're working with six different tile-types at once! I only managed to match-6+ four times in 100 levels! :o Sights & Sounds: The music ranges from nice to gorgeous, and the sound effects suit the game very well. I was surprised to find that the narrator and heroine were very well-voiced, though the rest of the cast weren't quite as good. Story: Ahh, and this would be what kept me playing 'til the end. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is solid, but I personally like collecting bonuses and blowing everything up that I can all at once. Sure, the game is more challenging the way they have it, but I wanted EXPLOSIONS, thank you very much ;D Back to the story at hand. Our heroine and her power to make everything around her better by being unwaveringly positive appeals to me, and I was curious where the tale was going to go. Happily, it did not end in a matter that was boring and predictable... As a matter of fact, there is another segment of story after you think the game has ended that completely took me by surprise. Thoughts & Verdict: I enjoyed upgrading the towns we came across, as well as the story, but I think that devs missed the opportunity to make the game truly addictive. Even the addition of a match-4 bonus would have made the difference for me ('cause you know - explosions!), and achievements would have really upped the enjoyment factor. If innocent purity and unswerving optimism make you gag, then this game probably isn't for you. If, however, you'd like a little more positivity in your life, give it a try!
«The Voice from Heaven»
Match 3 game with beautiful graphics, solid (addicting) core gameplay and a really fantastic soundtrack - really a "Voice from Heaven". Having fun with it.
This is a borderline negative review as I enjoyed most of the game, the story line and the artwork but also found it frustrating. I had problems with some of the game mechanics that ultimately meant if felt unsatisfying - and in a match-3 game where creating matches and clearing tiles is supposed to be satisfying - that is a serious problem. The game was a little insensitive to the mouse, there were several times I was swiping right to left and it animated a down swap and on the left hand side of the board occasionally swapping tiles inadvertently triggered one of the special effects. I also found it irritating to match 5 tiles (creating a special star) as this didn't effect the gold tile borders underneath (removed by matching 3 or 4 tiles) or using the 'clear all tiles of one kind' as this again didn't effect the borders. Half of the special effects seemed useless in furthering gameplay. I also found some of the tile types difficult to distinguish between (especially when covered in chains) due to similar shapes and colours eg. blue circles/blue bottles, apples/pumpkins. In a few of the larger puzzles I was unable to see the top corner tiles due to the header band covering them so it was guess work to match and clear them. By about 3/4 of the way through the game these frustrations led to it feeling really grindy instead of a fun casual game - so I have to give it a negative review.
A good match 3 game with a nice story and pretty graphics. The match 3 play is adequate and easy to win a level even in timed mode - I never ran out of time. The power ups are not that great, though. There are only two for destroying specific areas: a wand which smashes one tile and a bomb like potion which smashes 6 tiles. Two of the powerups all randomly destroy tiles and they NEVER destroy gold tiles nor tiles with chains on them. The shuffle powerup does what it says. The final powerup will destroy all of one type of tiles, but again it won't destroy chains or gold tiles. You can make a puny 4-way bomb (Star) by matching 5 tiles and a row eliminating bomb (orb) by matching 6 tiles. The problem is it is very hard to get these kind of matches. In fact, in some boards finding any matches at all can be a challenge. The time moves slowly, so you don't have to worry about that, but it is just tedious to clear all the gold tiles when you don't really have any powerups or bombs to help you. The goal is to restore the different villages by clearing enough gold tiles for the girl to sing her healing song. At the beginning, the number of gold tiles required to sing is low, but as you move on it gets more and more, meaning you will have to play more levels to earn the gold. Though not a M3 that makes my heart pitter-patter, it was a solid game with a good story and I would recommend it.
Game kept glitching. Often it would crash. Sometimes you would clear the board but it wouldn't register the last point, making it impossible to move to the next board / challenge unless you closed the game and lost all the points on that board. It became too tedious to keep repeating stages just to try and get to the next stage of the game. Guess the land shall remain blighted, the king will die, and the people are out of luck.
Beautiful music and enchanting story... but game can no longer be played as it is irretrievably broken!!!
So this game worked wonderfully for me all the way until recently when I tried to play it again after a long interval. Now, pieces no longer clear even when they are matched up. When you match 3 pieces, a sound is played, but nothing else happens, and the pieces continue to stay on the board! A quick check in the discussion forums revealed that several other players have encountered this same error. And nothing has been done on the part of the devs to fix this. Before the pandemic happened, the game worked fine... so did Covid break it??? LOL Anyway, I would have recommended this game if this bug hadn't suddenly happened. It has some of the most beautiful music I have heard, and gorgeous visuals. There is also a heartwarming story that progresses as you go through the levels. Too bad about the bug! :(
Pros: Lovely Story Smooth game play Cons: Poorly written No variety Low resolution No achievements The game itself would be good when match 3 games first came out but by today's standard, it is very outdated. The power ups are ok but the only item you can make inside the board is if you match 5 or more and all it does it create a small bomb that explodes just by touching it so it is next to useless. If this game were updated and enhanced, it would be great.
