About
[Game overview]
``The Untitled Tower'' is an action game in which the main character struggles to save a princess who is imprisoned at the top of a tower by a demon.
The protagonist meets unique residents, defeats the bosses that control them, and climbs a nameless tower controlled by a demon. Then the scenario takes an unexpected turn.

Highly challenging action game. Various enemies, devices, and bullet hells block the hero's adventure. Part of the barrage can be erased with attacks, and there is an invincible rolling dodge, so you can easily escape attacks and traps that seem impossible to avoid at first glance. Furthermore, each weapon has its own secret tricks (special moves), so by using them, the path will open up automatically.

Bosses with unique personalities.
More than 90 bosses await you at the end of your adventure.
A strange human, a giant caterpillar, a flying tank, and a genie. A variety of gimmicks, such as gravity reversal, action bans, and the sudden start of RPG and block breaking games, also add color to the overwhelmingly voluminous story.

Full of many detour elements!
In addition to the main story, ``The Nameless Tower'' includes 5 mini-games, sound collection, time attack, hidden bosses, and weapon enhancements. In addition to progressing through the main story, you can also enjoy a change of scenery and test your skills.

[remarks]
All work was done by a single developer and it took nine years to complete.
Play time is approximately 45 ~ 80 hours until the ending. If you are good at action games, we expect you to clear the game in about 24 hours.
Graphics, sounds, programs, scenarios, etc. are all made by myself.

When I first started playing this game, I really wasn’t feeling it. The early game is pretty slow to start, the jump physics and controls are a bit jank, the bosses weren’t too impressive. But as I went further and further into this behemoth of a game, it gradually became greater and stronger all across the board. New gimmicks in every area! Hard bosses with cool danmaku patterns! The controls… well they still stay kind of jank. But in the end, after clearing, I think the game stands strong as a solid action platformer with some flaws. And it’s partially these flaws that help to elevate the experience into something memorable. The Untitled Tower is first and foremost a platformer. Every area has tons of jump setups that start out basic but get more and more elaborate as the game goes on. While the early game just has simple jumps between stationary platforms, maybe killing some non-moving enemies on your way, the late game has you jumping around moving platforms while instakill lasers phase in and out of existence and enemies fire a hundred missiles at you. The sheer variety of gimmicks on display here is really commendable. There’s standard stuff like gravity flipping, autoscrollers, black and white blocks where one is solid and the other is intangible and then they flip when you jump off of one… (idk how to shorten that description). The lategame has you dealing with teleporter mazes, blocks that spin and create new paths since they only have openings on some sides, and my personal favorite: a set of three color blocks where one is solid when you’re moving horizontal, one is solid when you’re moving upwards, and one is solid when you’re moving downwards. There’s some truly cool platforming design with these late gimmicks, and even the earlier ones end up getting put to good use. The bosses vary from simple fights that you easily first-try to absolute ballbusters that I spent like an hour or so on. Sometimes you’re just dodge rolling through simple telegraphs, other times you’re trying to parse a bunch of danmaku patterns before giving up and just using your shield to skip the design. It really is the full experience, since there are a loooooooooot of bosses. And while the early ones are a bit forgettable, basically all the ones in the second half are cool, and the final stretch in particular are fantastic. As for the story, you play as a young girl who wakes up in an underground trash heap. You’re guided out by a voice that seems to come from nowhere that leads you up to the Nameless Tower. It’s there you meet a girl named Iris, who tells you about how the Princess of the nearby Kingdom has been kidnapped by the Demon God Evilarch. So naturally you set out on a quest to rescue her! I’m sure this all sounds fairly cliché, but the story certainly goes much deeper than that. It’s ultimately a story about.. stories. About how the characters we write can end up taking on lives of their own. About how we should strive to move forward rather than being trapped in stagnation. The characters aren’t the deepest, which is partially by design. But I still think the plot was fairly entertaining and heartfelt, and I definitely felt a bit moved by the ending. Overall, a solid game with a bit of jank to it.

"The Untitled Tower" is a weird Japanese hybrid 2D retro platformer/bullet hell shmup. The idea is that you're a little anime girl and you have to go rescue another little anime girl in a tower/dungeon/whatever. It's an uninspired mess, and the lack of inspiration ties in perfectly to the lack of quality. What do you do in the game? The game is split into shmup and platforming sections. Both are poorly done and uninteresting, although they do at least appear to be mostly bespoke. This feels like a genuinely, if badly made game. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of 8 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? This is a "nope". While it won't necessarily cost you money, the time and hard drive space it requires could be better invested in one of the many higher quality alternatives on Steam.
