I'm giving "The Traveller Tale" a thumb's up not just for what it is, but what it is going to lead to. This is Mystic Dream Studio's first game, and it shows in a lot of ways. Extremely ambitious but not fleshed out in parts, some bugs here and there, and maybe not enough promotion before release. What the game offers in spades is what I enjoy the most in RPG's. Turn based combat, a screen setup reminiscent of Wizardry 8 or Grimoire, and free-form exploration with no hand holding. If you enjoy those things, I recommend giving "The Traveller Tale" a go. If you need your games to be absolutely perfect, then look somewhere else. For full disclosure, I was given early access to Mystic Dream Studio's next game, "Grove of the Seven Stones", which is to be released in December of 2026. I can already see huge leaps and bounds in the presentation, questing, graphics, and overall feel of the game. The developer is extremely receptive to feedback, both good and bad, and has already implemented multiple requested features and fixes into his games. If you are a seasoned RPG player, I recommend playing the game on the hard setting, as the combat does feel quite easy on normal. Spell casting is a bit different here than your typical RPG. You don't have spell points or mana, but cooldowns for spells and abilities that reset after each battle. This makes back to back tough battles much more manageable. There is an overworld map which you traverse that has random encounters, and in dungeons you can see the enemies before you encounter them. You create a party of five characters from Fighters and Barbarians to Clerics and Wizards. You can also recruit optional NPC's along the way which you level up and handle like the rest of your team. While there is nothing super original here, there are very few large scale, open world RPG's that let you figure things out for yourself on the market right now. If you miss the days of Wizardry 6-8, The Bard's Tale, Grimoire, or any other large classic RPG, give The Traveller Tale a shot, but really keep your eyes on the upcoming game, "Grove of the Seven Stones" which has the potential to be a true classic.
For 24 bucks I refunded. The controls are really Janky. At this state is not worth the money. This seems like a 10 dollar game.
I had no idea what I was getting into but the game is amazing. Elements from so many classic dungeon crawlers combined with some new stuff. If you like old school crawlers like Wizardry, Eye of the Beholder, Thunderscape, or even the earlier Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest games... Then you will find something awesome about The Traveller Tale.
I´m really enjoying my time with this game. It has that magical sense of adventure. Great writting and aesthetics too. Recommend!!
Great blobber so far good tbc really like the graphics gameplay is good it does need additional work but the creator is really responsive and sends out fixes and such fast looking very very promising
Peccato......
