Hard to say this is a game, although technically it is The first trailer for the game accurately shows what it is; You open doors, collect an item that does absolutely nothing, and the server then begins an hour countdown before you can open another The true game-play is you're hoping you'll find the portal door to go to the next floor, but ultimately rising through the floors isn't worth the players time Fun fact, 0.1% of the players have opened 500 doors, which would take roughly 20 days minimum to achieve, despite the game only having released 7 days ago as of this review. I wonder if the dev stuck actually did it legit or just messed with the server tine, I mean it is their server after all :P
Absolutely the worst game I've ever played. Not the graphics or sound, they're actually ok. No, it's the complete and total lack of playability and the concept of the game. I logged on, made one decision and then I have to wait a full hour before I can make one more decision and then wait another full hour. How this game was allowed on Steam is beyond me. I honestly advise you not to play this game!!!!

This isn't even a game. It's a..."click once to get a useless item then wait an hour to click again" simulator. This is probably the worst thing I've experienced in my 35+ years of gaming. Don't waste your time on it.
thought it would somewhat like Garry's mod Elevator Source, its not
It's a social experiment masquerading as a game thrown together with a variety of asset packs.

I am going to go against the grain here and give this game a positive review. Personally, I really like Tower of Aether. Let me explain why: it scratches a very specific niche itch. Remember advent calendars as a kid or adding one link to your red and green construction paper x-mas chain for each day leading up? That same itch is what it scratches. Beyond that, each item has a description so each item is giving you more lore about the world which I find really cool to see combined with what is essentially an hourly advent calendar. Is it for everyone? of course not, but then not many are. The joy of the game is more like archaeology-you find one object and gleam some insights from it, and the more you find the more you end up learning about this particular world. Also much like archaeology, some times you won't hit pay dirt. You will find nothing of interest. That is how it goes some times. So for that, I applaud it. Go in with only these expectations every so often and you shouldn't have any problem enjoying it for what it is. it is not a game in the traditional sense, but if like me you have that particular niche itch, you should give it a chance as it costs absolutely nothing.
I'm sorry, but I can't wait an hour and get empty rooms like three or four times in a row. Is this even a game? The only nice thing is the main menu song, which reminds me a little of "Dalentarth" from Kingdoms of Amalur, but a little more sped up. https://youtu.be/U-Uqmy02XJ8
