The Tale of Doris and the Dragon - Episode 1

Going to be honest, I didnt care what this game was - I was buying it just for the word "dragon". But I'm really happy I spent that £2.50. Good art, great voices, a little short but we all know size doesn't matter all that much (PLUS it has a dragon). I love the humour and I'm curious as to where the story is going. I found this game while looking through the steam market results for "dragon background", I stumbled upon Norb and I HAD to buy the game. And I'm glad I did. Can't wait for Episode 2.

Out of all of the Point and Click games I've played, I've never experienced anything so creative and so humorous like this. The Tale of Doris and the Dragon: Episode 1 was without a doubt the best Point and Click game that I've played in a long time. The artwork, the characters, the gameplay and the story are all amazing, and I'm looking forward to the next episodes!

Nice and short point & click adventure game. The voice acting is kind of poor (it's obvious the same person made all the voices), but it actually makes it pretty funny. The main issue I had was a bug that required shutting down the game and reloading my save. [spoiler](in order to get eaten by the demon)[/spoiler]

Short, but very good! The voice acting is genius, i personally laughed quite a few times. Soundtrack is great. Great puzzles even though i did struggle a bit sometimes, but the more challenging - the more fun. The text that rolls is honestly a bit annoying because it's really hard to read that way. It's all in all a great and original game, love the creativity behind the game, and it's definitely worth the 3,99€ When is Episode 2 coming out?

Rightio, I know two of the chaps that worked on the game and promised I would give an honest review back about it rather than being nice. However... It's lovely, despite the art style (which personally I am not normally a fan of) being pixelated, they have managed to create a grim realm in the inbetween where nto all is at it seems. I am genuinely intrigued as to who the shadow man is and am looking forward to the next installment, the story so far is well written and presented, it's funny in places, the highlight being the boatman and his random question about Robert Smith. The game plays smoothly on my crappy pc, which is always a lovely bonus for me, the music is dark and forboding, the sounds are excellent. There are however a couple of gripes and I know this might annoy them a little bit. The first is the music puzzle, I am extremely well versed in point and click games having played pretty much every single one I have ever found, including the discorld games and their ridiculously obscure puzzles. This music puzzle ranks up there with the octopus puzzle from the first Discworld game with frustration levels. I can play a couple of instruments myself so have quite a good sense of timing for beats, rhythm etc, but had found it hard to get it right. Doris, at times her speech is spot on, but sometimes it can get quite annoying, (sorry Ben :( ) but mainly when she is viewing objects. Also more annoying puzzles! It's a great intro into the genre and apart from that bloody music puzzle, very accesible for new players to the genre. But please ramp up the obscurity on puzzles for it! That would be awesome for someone with my levels of anger. I need an excuse for a new mouse anyway. Please also have more of the boatman in the next episode, he is brilliant. Definitely check out htis game, it's short but worth the £2.79

I loved this story episode from the second I saw it, while looking for games about dragons. Finally, a story where an old woman gets to have a proper adventure and meet a friendly dragon! I got exactly what I expected: a short, endearing, straightforward homage to point-and-click adventures, with the kind of story and characters I always wanted to see. It felt like rediscovering a favourite little cereal box bauble from twenty years ago. Of course, this retro experience includes all the frustrating little things, like feeling 'stuck' often and clicking and right-clicking and dragging every pixel on the screen to figure out what I was supposed to do. Each puzzle was relatively straightforward though, since there's only one or two puzzles you can solve at a time with your entire inventory. The game also has lengthy conversations that, though amusing, are hard to skip through until I figured out that you're supposed to "use" an item on a person, not "interact" with them, to give it to them. It's also hard to tell when a character has something new to say. I'm sure many of the less fun things will be smoothed out in the next episode, though. [spoiler]The music box puzzle was my favourite because I love music puzzles and bone/fossil xylophones, but it took me a while to figure out because I had sound effects turned off, because after a while the Fur Elise snippet playing every time I clicked on the box reminded me too much of all the times people wanted me to play it on the piano. I sympathize with the demon entirely. So basically I couldn't figure out why nothing was happening when I clicked on the ribs.[/spoiler] I'm very glad that The Tale of Doris and the Dragon is being told. It's the kind of pure, snarky, cute adventure I always wanted, with just my type of humour. Its "clunkiness" doesn't get in the way of the story. I'm very much looking forward to Episode Two!

Good little game ,nice art work ,fun story . Glad i bought it ,didn't cost a lot anyway ,and i do hope we get the other episodes. If ,like me ,you enjoy point n clicks ,i'd say ,this is one you should have in your library. edit: Apparently a new episode is in the works Quote from ArrogantPixel: " We will be attending a game expo this year to reveal the first version to the press and public! They got some audacity charging $4 for what amounts to abot 30 minutes of game. this game was like getting all dressed up and ready to go out on a big date and then jacking off in the bathroom and going to bed. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pointless.

I'll be honest, the voice acting could be better. But it is a neat little game, around an hour or longer.

"The Tale of Doris and the Dragon - Episode 1" is a classic style point-and-click adventure game. We play as Doris in limbo, trying to pass to the other side? Or maybe, there is more than meets the eye?.. Why her case differs? I won't spoil this for you; but you will fast figure this one out. This is the first episode of the adventure series and the second is out as well. It isn't particulary lenghty but it's quite smart! There is a lot of fun to be had here! The puzzles are clear, witty and humorous; just like the dialogues. Cartoonish characters and artstyle make up for its grim theme. Very basic point-and-click mechanics and dialogue options. What isn't basic, is the mix of ideas and how they are implemented. It's strangely serene and the ambient sounds along with the monotonous backgrounds, help with making you feel calm in an unfinished world.. A purgatory.. Limbo..
